All teams have fans who like to cause trouble, very few sides are worse than the majority, and naming small incidents is always stupid

That being said it's well known Swindon have always been a joke in this regard

Was their any proof the Inn On The Green incident was Rovers fans? City has always had more of an issue wit Swindon than the gas

Anyway pot kettle and all that as I remember years ago Swindon fans throwing bricks over into the away end from outside the ground when we were waiting to leave the County Ground.
Bollocks we do! Just the sheep and your lot as far as we're concerned but between us, we managed to have a good laugh with Swindon during our promotion season.
I don't like violence but love the atmosphere when it's a rival and the atmosphere at the Swindon game at the Gate was venomous, nearly as good as when we play your shower.

So you don't have more of an issue with the roundabout lovers but the atmosphere is always venomous? Sounds a bit contradictory to me.
Incidentally the only time I remember us being attacked with bricks at an away ground whilst waiting to leave the ground has been the County Ground and Ashton Gate.....:dis:

Well, apart from the delightful bunch shouting 'Rovers' I think it's safe to say yes

'Always' is not what I said BRFC and you know it. We don't usually have much of an issue with Swindon but a rivalry was 'manufactured' during our promotion season. It made for an exciting match at the Gate when the atmosphere was brilliant, at that game.
Our only rivals are yourselves and the sheep worriers with Swindon a very distant 3rd.
I always thought there was more of a rivalry between Swindon and the gas than there was between Swindon and ourselves TBH. We always travel in numbers there but my understanding was that it was yourselves they weren't too fond of rather than us? I stand to be corrected though.

You were doing so well and I was going to like this as your first sentence is spot on.

I'm curious as to how Swindon are 'well known' for being a joke in these incidents?

I do know that we have some absolute wangers for fans so you won't get any arguments from me there.

For what it's worth I think all violence at football is unnecessary. I get that the passion can sometimes overflow but for me I can't stand to hear of knuckleheads having a scrap whilst innocent people get caught up in it.

I remember that day well. They must be the same fans who were asking us where the away end was. If they were gas surely they would know that already?
Personally i've been watching Rovers for over 30 years and cant recall us ever having much of a problem with Swindon, always seemed to be worse with you and City.

How old are you as I always remembered the rivalry with City and Swindon being quite bad, maybe not so much of late?

Long term gains.
Oxford will always be Swindon's main rivals due to proximity, after that it all depends on amount of games against each other, importance of games, recent history etc. We haven't been in the same division as reading for fucking years so that's died a death, Rovers are generally shit and the games between us recently have been meaningless, so the rivalry with city has grown mainly due to last seasons shenanigans. Gillingham just need to fucking do one.

For the record, Town-City matches are the biggest for me. Live closer to Bristol than Swindon, friends and work colleagues are city fans whereas I don't know a single Oxford or rovers fan.

Could be in for another feisty year I reckon. This season hasn't even finished yet and there's already a 10 page thread of Swindon-Oxford-Rovers bickering.

Worst thing is I reckon there are more posts by city fans than anyone else

The rivalry certainly isn't dead, but has fallen off a lot. Naturally would though with so little game time between Reading and Swindon (and Oxford).

Must be near 15 years since we played each other. Every year it does seem to get further away, Reading v Swindon was always the big one for both clubs until Oxford eventually got out of non-league in the 60s. Then there was about 20 years where Oxford and Swindon were generally a league above Reading, and in the last 20 years Reading have generally been above those two clubs. So realistically now you'd have to be at least a 65 year old fan of either Reading/Swindon to even know that rivalry at its peak.

We'll be down in League One in the not too distant future I'd imagine, so could rekindle the rivalries somewhat.

Just a shame for us that the main club that consider us their fiercest rivals are Aldershot, who we're furthest from playing, and we don't have as much history with as Swindon, or probably Oxford.

Reading are a weird one for me, was genuinely wishing them well when they got promoted to the Premiership first time round. Didn't start going to Swindon games till 2003 so I find it hard to muster any real dislike for them. That will surely change whenever we meet again.

Dislike City equally as much as Oxford because we've spent more time with them in my lifetime than any other rival.

I couldn't care less about Reading, as we've not played them in my time, and even if we did I think it'd be more a local game against a side who have been in the Prem in recent years, rather than a rivalry, I think it'd need us being in the same division for a couple of years to really get any bad feeling between the younger generation

What is fucking wrong with some of you?

Reading, you're a league above us, but very much second best in the rivals stakes.

Swindon, you're scum, and also a joke on and off the pitch.

The rest of you, I couldn't care less about.

I'm devastated, I thought we'd made an unbreakable connection at Wembley.

Then why fucking post, numbnuts.

Christ, there's always one fucking dinosaur who thinks it's really important - and it's always you.

Just fuck off and keep on wanking yourself stupid(er) until the games come round - and nothing fucking happens as per usual.

My dad's bigger than your dad - what bollocks. Fucking grow up you cretin.

Obviously they weren't proper out and out Rovers fans, they were just violent bastards who take an interest in Rovers but more of an interest in violence. I heavily doubt they were City fans.

Pretty stupid discussion really. Think you've probably got it spot on. As OUFC Dan also says there are always clowns who have no regard for others and just want something to kick off, it happens up and down the country I'm sure.

Oh dear, the inbred brothers seem to be upset.

What's up children, you like to dish it out but you don't like me having the right of reply? Never mind, it's only the Internet, you're safe to call me all the names you like on here, and nobody will hurt you. It's about your level though, as you never say boo to a goose when (if???) you come to Oxford.

You would have shit yourselves in the 70s and 80s.

Come on, then Eric - or would you prefer me to call you Paul - what is your acceptable level of violence? Be happy to see a fan or 2 killed?

Be good to have a Swindon family without a father, husband or son? I know who the fuck you are
