Playoff semi final 2-1 defeat to West Ham after we took a 1 goal lead from the first leg. (2004)
Plus (inevitably) the semi final playoff defeat to the scummers last season, that hurt, too. (2015)

Getting beat 3-0 in the 93 playoff final at Wembley against West Brom. That season we won the the auto glass trophy the week before against Stockport county. I could only afford to go one of the other, all my mates went the auto glass game.[emoji30][emoji30]

Losing to the gills in Wembley playoff final a few years back. They scored past the 90th minute from a corner that shouldn't have been....

Also relegation to the conference was a kick in the gonads, particularly a painful home defeat to Carlisle - fortunately getting back up at the first attempt softened the blow.

1999 being 2-0 up vs man city in the play off final going in to the 90th minute, with city scoring twice in stoppage time and then losing on penalties

Chorley in the Conference North playoff semi last year. 0-0 away draw in midweek, went 2 up at home before they got one back. Then 95th minute their centre half overhead kicks one into the top corner to force extra time. Goes to penalties, we have a kick to win it- gets saved. Lose on pens.
Would have got a home tie in the final to a side we beat 5-1 earlier on. Chorley then lost at home in the final.
Until we get promoted (hopefully this year), I'll still have nightmares about it

I like how you have resorted to making threads on whatever is trending on BBC's Sportsday

Being conned into going whilst we had one of the best sides in division 3 only to realise 24 months later that we were Infact utter gash and I've not been able to stop going since.

Being relegated from the Premier League. Wasn't very old, but I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

This one.

Also, Bopp '05 ranks quite highly.

I was there for both of these and was utterly inconsolable after both. I actually think getting relegated at Forest hurt more because we had given everything and were unlucky, unlike the capitulations under Stimson.

Play offs in 1987 for me.
We had beaten Sunderland from the division above in the semi final on away goals.
Then the two legged final.
Won the first one at home 1-0 and lost the second leg away 2-1.
Which meant we would have won on away goals, but for the fact that they had decided to do away with the away goals rule for the final!
On to a replay at Selhurst park which we duly lost 2-0.

Worst of all, it was against the inbreds!!

Losing to tinpot Crawley in L1 was bad.

Losing 6-1 to Morcambe wasn't a great feeling either.

Being robbed by David 'c***' Elleray in the 97 FA Cup Semi Final v Middlesbrough.

Jonathan Howard goal a foot over the line, bounced out.....Played on.

That would have put us 3-1 up with 15 minutes to play.

It genuinely still brings tears to my eyes when I watch that game.

Obviously slightly tempered by Jamie Hewitt's last minute equaliser after Boro had taken a 3-2 lead in extra time, which ranks as my greatest moment.

Absolute scenes.

Not really felt much real heartache watching Vale in my lifetime, had feelings of disappointment etc, always felt more when I'm playing in a game and you're actually in the emotion of it all.

Missing out on the playoffs in 2004 on goal difference. Needed to win our last three, beat Notts County, a 94th minute winner v Tranmere then beat Rushden but Swindon and Hartlepools draw saw them both make it on goal difference over us. Was more gutted then than when we went down in 2008.

losing the area final of JPT about 2006? Drew the home leg 3-3 vs Doncaster. Then went to the keepmoat and went 2-0 up at half time, we all thought we were on are way to Cardiff. but in true Crewe style we conceeded 3 in the the last 10 mins, thanks to abit of Doncaster cheating.

The only other one that stands out was losing to Man Utd in the last minute of extra time in the league cup. We played so well and didn't deserve to lose like that.

Therelegations never seemed to hurt as much as just like this one they had all been coming for a few years.
This one.

This probably ranks as the most joyous moment.

even noticed Bopp scored for a non league team Bashford???? at the weekend. what a legend that guy is.
