Can you let the resident village idiot from Halifax know that they weren't mentioned on the list please?
Left out in the cold by fellow Brothers.
Maybe something to do with being a tin pot phoenix club.

If Halifax were on the list they’d get my vote, if for no other reason than the most excellent Three Pigeons pub.

Stockport and Wrexham. Two decent-sized clubs with decent fans.
I dont want a decent sized club. I want a tinpot club who we haven't played before. I dont think we have played Sutton, that'll do. Add Torquay for someone local to play*

*Assuming we dont go up

If we stay up, guess Notts as it’s a good away day (local for me) even if they seem to shithouse results against us in recent years.

Stockport was always a decent one for the Vale travelling and we have had some good results there, plus they’ve been through the toughest times going right down to the NLN for a couple of years plus.

I do enjoy new EFL clubs as new grounds to knock off but despite two newbies covid put paid to that this season and most of the time they are hobby clubs.

[1] Torquay. Always plenty of goals whenever FGR play them. Plus nice to have a day at seaside before match.
Passionate supporters who all flashed opposing supporters with the light from the mobiles whenever Torquay scored. It was almost worthwhile conceding just to watch that display. [I did say 'almost']

[2] Notts Co. For years our away match at their stadium was the largest league crowd that FGR had played in front of.
History and huge support dictate they should be a league club.

Torquay!!! nothing beats a torquay weekender, don't give 2 shites who comes up with them + after living in torbay for 2 years running a pub i have a lot of friends there and it would be great for them if they get back into the efl.

They often give us Torquay on a Friday. Happened with both the home and away matches one season. Thanks for that, FA.

For years Torquay were FGR's 'local' rivals for Xmas & New Year games.
Yep, 'local' at 126 miles distance & 2 1/2 hours travel.
There were many other clubs closer to FGR but at time they were Torquay's nearest.

Sutton, Eastleigh and/or Dover.

Especially Dover if Carlisle don't get promoted. ;-)

This league needs to get a few Southern teams in it. The travelling up north and out west is getting ridiculous.

Erm Dover have pretty much said they’re not carrying on with this season, so that’s a bit unlikely.

Haha yeah, you got stitched up a bit there. I think we got Macclesfield after Lincoln complained to the Conference and requested to not play us twice over Christmas, which is a similar kind of distance.

That's actually what happened? It was a power play from you, in all fairness. I think after being spanked most of the time over Christmas you did the double over us the season after you managed to convince the Conference to not play us twice over the festive period.

Not quite. Before the fixtures were released by the NL, all Club's were asked who they wanted as their Xmas double header (if they wanted one at all (most did), and they were asked to provide three choices). Our argument was that the Xmas/NYD fixture always pulled in more fans so we'd be better off financially by having a usual lower attended game over the festive period and the Grimsby home game either side of it because the attendances for that were going to be similar regardless of when it was played.

The ghost of Craig Disley still visits SB around Xmas, mind.

That was the official line yes, but we all know why you really did it.

Halifax's problem is that their own supporters are excessively aggressively offensive to all and every visiting referee.
Referee's at all time try to be honest and fair but one wonder's if they are influenced to award everything towards Halifax's opponents in 50/50 decisions.

In other news the Pope is also catholic

The question was who would I like to see not who I think will be promoted.

I would just like a couple of more local teams to play against.

Almost every game at the Shay between the 2 teams ended with a fight.
I'd say your not exactly walking round with Halo's on when it comes to your behaviour.

Yeah, they'd get my vote as well but as it's not looking likely they'll be up there come May so I left them off the list. I did however put a 'none of the above' option and by that I meant Halifax, Yeovil, Aldershot etc. I certainly was not thinking of the likes of B frickin Wood or Solihull ;)

Back to the Shaymen, I have often said on here they are (sort of) my second team. I don't care about the PL so it was always going to be a lower league club. Also, and IMO of course, The Shay is the best NL ground bar none, all things considered.

Why are all the Barrow fans going for none of the above? Is it because they want to go back to the connie?

We don't want Barrow back. Long trip up to the arse end of nowhere. Not to mention its fooking freezing at that ground.
Grimsby though. Wouldn't mind having them back. Always good for a good away following.

Except that (I think) most of us would rather keep Grimsby here if that's alright with you ;) You can have Southend though.

Oh yeah I bet you would, you spanked 4 past us twice in 2 years when you came up from the North! I said in another thread that if we went down then going back to The Shay would be a silver lining, so the feeling's mutual.

One of those defeats was even more embarrassing for you because we got relegated at the end of that season. Won at Wembley though after relegation though. I'm sure you remember because it was against you for one and 2 because you went up that year didn't you?

You knocked us for 6 that very same season at your gaff (I want to call it blundell park is that correct)

Southend are they good for away support?
To be fair most of the teams at the bottom end of league 2 are not great for away support. Grimsby being an exception. If they are doing well they can easily top 1,000 travelling. Not to mention home games with them usually add a few hundred onto our home support aswell.

Torquay and Notts, ideally. Nice seaside trip and big historic club with loadsafans.

When it comes down to it, though pretty much anyone but Boreham Wood would be tolerable. Not keen on Solihull Moors either really, not least given how much hassle it is to get to their place by train.

I’ve given ourselves a vote out of pity as it looks like our suitors are lacking with people seemingly opting for a warm weekend trip to sunny Torquay on the south coast as oppose to visiting the famous crooked spire... unbelievable :dis: !!??

I also miss our yellow and blue friends over on the dark side of the M1... honest!
