Hey i am not against it completly. The most creative skilful player to ever put a Bolton shirt on had a long throw to rival many but he was as likely to bend the ball into the top corner from 30 yards as he was to throw it in from 30 yards........but Ben Tozer is no JJ OkotchaI take it Ian Evatt considers himself above launching throw-ins into the box. Don't see why it's 'awful to watch' it's just another way of getting the ball into a dangerous area; kick it, throw it, head it, throw it to someone who then kicks it, the end result is the same. We're not average because we're throwing balls into the box, we're average because we're conceding too many and not scoring enough.
Advantages of the long throw are that you have an extra player in the box instead of having to have someone come to recieve the throw then cross it, also it catches teams out who think that putting the ball out for a throw will clear the danger. The only reason I think people associate the long throw with anti-football is because Stoke did it.
