I have yet to see a single team look better than us over ninety minutes let alone over a season. However so long as Forest Green keep winning we do too and it's tight at the top with over a third of the season to go. Grimsby and Eastleigh are also waiting to pounce if both of us slip up but I think it's a Gloucestershire title.

Also some rubbish being talked about our squad on here, we have one of the biggest squads in this league and one of the biggest budgets. Not sure how many players we will sign in January but we've only recently signed three players so we don't need to panic buy.

Any side that starts Danny Parslow week in week out won't win the title.

Who's Townsend?
Conor Townsend, left back/winger on loan from them mudrats over the water. Best left peg in the division probably.

When Townsend joined in October you were 9 points off the top, now it's 8.
Not fair to say signing him will win us the league but since he's come in, results have improved a lot ( barring the Cheltenham loss). To make us contenders, we actually need a decent CM to partner Disley.

No point in predicting, no team is good or consistent enough to say.

I love these threads.

Promotion thread - "Can't see past us/not seen anyone better than us"
Relegation thread - "We're terrible, we'll finish bottom by at least 30 points/won't score again this season never mind win a game"

At least these comments come from people supporting different teams, would be a bit worrying if they weren't.

Honestly I've become past the point of fed up and no winning run can change that. I don't think Hurst will get us promoted but I'm bored of moaning about it so I've convinced myself we'll win the league despite him.

Either we go up this season or he leaves, either will do. In fairness this is definitely his best chance and we're not far off.

"They are the most consistent side and have the perfect blend of experienced conference players and young talent in their squad. Oh and the best manager in the league".
Sums us up perfectly. Not sure about the journeymen comment !
They are playing well and really bonded amongst the team and as importantly the fans.
The squad is set to be strengthened and the board will back Gary Johnson to the hilt.
They trust him.

Is there a "Our season's over thread" for the teams with no chance of either and are out of all the cup competitions?

Based on current play I would suggest Cheltenham will probably win it. After that you have the same teams who were up there last season in FG,Grimsby,Eastleigh & Macc Town.Hopefully if Grimsby don't win it I hope they go up through the play offs.
Still cannot believe Tranmere have not made a greater impression.

So you don't agree with all your other fans that came on here after our 1-1 draw with you, admitting that we absolutely battered you for 95 mins with the general consensus being that you were all very happy, & very lucky, with your point?

You're forgetting Urban with Barnet last year!

Think you might be right, that was a bit of a blast from the past, I had completely forgotten Urban. I sort of miss the Barnet and Gas fans from last season, they were pretty good value on here.

You didn't batter us for 95 mins at all, you battered us for the second 45 mins (which I'm sure every CTFC fan would agree with). The first half we battered you. I'm sure mine, Barnwood CTFC's and any other CTFC fan's posts would say the same at the time.

In fact, here is my post following the game:

Cheltenham top of the league? I remember someone saying that this league was getting tougher and if you go down from L2 then it would be a really hard job of getting back up. Well it wasn't a problem for Bristol Rovers and Barnet and now Cheltenham are ahead by a bit who were completely abysmal last season by all accounts.

The league is also poor in comparison to previous seasons. It's getting weaker.

You clearly never came to Chester then.
You were extremely lucky to nab a point when Jon Worsnop was going through his calamity period.

It's a weak year, but generally I think it's a more Competative league than it was. Less whipping boys. I'd also still back the top 10 teams to give the bottom 10 of L2 a run for their money.

And Cheltenham haven't run away with it. It's not an unassailable lead yet.

Grimsby for me, needs to be this season really. Best strikers which is what gets you up as champions. Tbh though the Barnet, Gas and Grimsby teams of last season would have pissed it this season.

I said FGR back in August and I'm sticking with my prediction. I reckon Grimsby will finish second, then it's either Cheltenham or Eastleigh for third. Fifth place is a bit tricky but I think Wrexham will make it. I only hope that if my pred is correct, then Wrexham and Grimsby avoid each other in the semis and meet in the final. No one likes seeing a Wembley final played in front of only something like 15000 fans.

I still think Grimsby will win it with FGR, Eastleigh and Cheltenham making up the top four.
5th is then up for grabs to a number of teams including Dover, Lincoln, Braintree, Wrexham, Macc, Tranmere etc but I think unless Tranmere start performing to their true potential, 5th place will be Wrexham's come the end of the season.

I don't think we're much better or worse than we were last season. You could certainly have argue the case for either opinion. Cheltenham have just been so consistent so far and they always seem to win all their matches when everyone else is also bang in form.

From what I've seen you lot are better than results would suggest, our team would absolutely ruin it and akinde would have had 30 goals by Christmas. It's not an exact science of course

Disagree with most of that, mate. In terms of games played, Barnet would have been a point behind Cheltenham at this point last season. I highly doubt you'd have caught up with FGR's opening 9 straight wins yet either. If we're going on last season's points after 24/25 games, you wouldn't even be in the playoff spots. Whether or not that means this league is easier or not, is something that nobody can prove really. The only marker I can really use is our squad which, as I've previously alluded to, I don't think is drastically different in terms of level. Worth pointing out there was marginal difference between us and you lot last season too. With regards to our form, we had a disappointing start, but have only lost in the league once since August (to Cheltenham). Admittedly there are about 6 draws in there too, but they came against some tough sides (FGR, Wrexham, Tranmere and Braintree).
