An interesting question. At the start of the season, Utd with their investment and new manager combined with Liverpool losing their star player would have made this an easy question to answer.

However, Van Gaal seems to have no knowledge or ideas as to how to set his team to play. The fact they are 3rd is a shocking statistic as to how playing rubbish football can get results. Combined with the premier league is now 4th or 5th in Europe in terms of quality.

You would expect the current Liverpool team to finish above them. Though neither will make great strides in Europe.
