As you'll probably understand, being a Latics fan at the moment is rather depressing. Can't even be arsed with Crewe away tomorrow, and that's always a decent day.

Instead, I've been reminiscing about the joyous times I've had following us, not that there's been many since 1985 that I was old enough to experience in all its glory, so I thought I'd have a look at past upsets we've handed out in the cup.

My mates, the usual United, City et al supporters, instantly assume our 1-0 win at Goodison a few years back, or even the 3-2 win over Liverpool at BP, would be my faves - which is probably the PL arrogance playing out there, but they don't come close.

Forest away a few years back, under the managerial genius that was Paul Dickov (bigger off, Donny), is hands down my most memorable one. We were in terrible form leading up to this game, and the first half was absolutely atrocious from out point of view. I thought it'd end up a good 5 or 6 nil by the end. We came out for the 2nd half and instantly improved. Our crowd, which at times, was superb and extremely noisy despite the performance we'd put in during that woeful first half, and we ended up witnessing a magical 7 minutes by smashing 3 in.

The video below, which is taken from the forest end during the build up to our 2nd goal, gives me goosebumps every time.

I'm sure you've all had those moments yourselves, so I was wondering, whilst I'm on my own pursuit of happiness, what games stand out for you?

To me, it's days, and moments, like this, that remind me why I support a team that fucks me off so bastard much.

We usually win at Elland Road and Hillsborough.

Visiting small clubs grounds such as Bristol City and Port Vale is also great fun. :2thumb:

Winning 0-4 and 2-4 at Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers respectively when they were both in the Premier League was good fun, especially as at the latter we had our biggest ever away turnout, a 3,500 sell out with 20 or so in the home end.

Other than that, Carlisle United is always good for a day out (it did help that we won 1-3 and were top of the league when I went the other year) and Sheffield Wednesday was enjoyable on both occasions I have been despite not winning on either occasion.

Easy one for me. 4-1 down at Elland Road to come back and win 6-4. Magical night.

Reading away last season, holding on to a 1-1 draw with only eight men.

Sending Shrewsbury all but down last season in style, best day at work ever after that. Under Dull Davis, I'd say that, Preston away in 2012-13 and Vale away last season were our best awaydays along with the playoffs at Southend.

Before that, loved beating Bradford 5-1 on the last day of the season when we actually played exciting football. Remember crushing Stockport in our 2002-03 season as well, a complete performance from us. Also the 2-0 win at Elland Road in 2004-05, Dean Ashton's last game for us!

Winning 6 - 4 at St Andrews after being 4 - 1 down with 25 minutes left, queue Hoddle coming on to join Mickey Hazard in midfield and the rest was a master class.

Me too. My mate went to move the car at 4-2 down.:ffs:
That made I chuckle and this guy must still be reminded of it, surely?!

That's a dark memory he'll have to live with ;)

Had quite a few, especially in league one. With Coventry being as bad on and off the field as they are, an away day win is something very special.

Beating Man United at Old Trafford with 12,000 Coventry fans there was special. Seems like madness that we don't even get that at home any more. Seems crazy, but with being born a few years after our FA Cup win, that day at Old Trafford was probably the only success many of our supporters have seen. It baffles me to this day that Gerard Pique has gone on to become one of the most successful centre backs in football history after he was literally tore apart by Michael Mifsud and bloody Leon Best.

There has been some brilliant ones since we have been down here in League One. The annual trip to MK is usually good, but for me the best away day was at top of the league Doncaster when we smashed them 4-1 in December 2012. That is one of the only times that I have felt Coventry could achieve promotion, we were incredible.

I will never complain about the away days in this league, they are superb.

How Michael Doyle, Robbie Simpson, Dele Adebola and co beat United I will never know. What a shocking side that was. We should have gone down that year, Leicester were so unlucky.

Haha. "20 or so in the home end"

I love this guy. Cracks me up.

Well there was about 20 or so. I'm not a real fan so I don't use hyperbolic statements such as 'we had hundreds in the home end' or 'we had more fans than the home team'.
