Following on from cufc17's thread, who's been your player of the season so far?

Could really nominate 5 or 6 of ours. Smith, Buchanan, O'Toole, Holmes, Richards etc. Really can't split it.

O'Toole has been fantastic and the turnaround from his last years performances is unbelievable, so vital in how we recover the ball and his range of passing is a real useful tool from defensive midfield. Also now into double figures for goals.

Smith kept us in so many games at the start of the year. Won't be with us for very long.

Buchanan is a solid 7/10 every week, Mr Dependable and he doesn't get the credit he deserves

Holmes is a match winner and probably the best player I've ever seen play for us. He just makes things happen in a way I've never seen in a Claret shirt. Doesn't score a bad goal.

Marc Richards is a top striker at L2 level, leads by example and is still scoring goals.

I'm gonna plump foooooooooooooooor O'Toole. No, Holmes. Actually O'Toole as he's played all year.

I'd say Danny Grainger has been our best player this season, but he hasn't been as effective since his return from injury.

Apart from Grainger, Jabo was a key figure in the early months of the season, Charlie Wyke has accumulated a fair few goals recently, and Tom Miller has been a good addition to our side.

Three stand out for me. Danny Grainger, Jabo Ibehre and Michael Raynes... can't decide who our POTS should be but I reckon the vote will be between those three.

From what I've seen I think Roofe is the best player in the League, whilst Boden has seemingly pulled an awful Newport side into mid-table somehow.

So I'd say one of those 2.

No one really stands out except Mal Benning for us. Think we've had a good standard of players this year but they've all been inconsistent. Mal for me has been something else in defence and attack, he's up there with the best LBs in the league imo. Think Clements has had a good season too.

Agree with that SFL. Benning and Clem are the only candidates for me. Pearce and Taff have both been good but not as good as Mal and Clem.

Think we've got a good side who with a few additions can make the extra step. We need a striker to play up top with Green and a right back more than anything else IMO. A centre half when we lose Taffazolli aswell.

Has to be Mark Byrne for us in my view (has carried the midfield by himself virtually all season), although I dread to think where we would be without Boden's goals too.

O'Toole was pretty useful for us I thought scoring a few goals but he was always quite useful with a pint of beer (allegedly..)

For City, I'd probably go for Bobby Olejnik with Alex Nicholls a close second.

Not too much choice in all honesty.

I don't get the roofe hype at all, over the 180 minutes I saw he was totally average at best and he only seems to score against the minnows...

I liked the looks of Wyke and Nichols, both looked sharp and hungry but surely the L2 PotS has to be Holmes, he's been unstoppable.

(Orients PotS has to be Simpson, no surprises there)

O'toole is a massive Bellend with the moral compass of a drug dealer and the loyalty of a Tory minister.
Saying all that, the bloke is a fantastic player at this level and would be my pick as player of the season. He does the work of two players in the midfield and is a goalscorer. A massive reason Northampton have been so dominant.

I'm confused. Is this a thread for League 2 POTS or each team's POTS? I blame EricSabin :animatedf:

Pretty slim pickings for us to be honest but I'd go for Cameron McGeehan. Id like to see him really dominate the centre of the pitch more and grab games but he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time, his goal return even more remarkable given Still thought it was a good idea to shunt him out to left midfield for a fair part of the season.

Mention for Jack Marriott too, really rate him very highly indeed and has really stepped up another notch under Jones.

Krystian Pearce or Ryan Tafazolli by several country miles. Nobody else need apply. Benning unfortunately spent too much time on the treatment table to match those two.

Yep....Tom Nichols deserves a shout for his first half of the season. I also think troy brown has been solid despite our shite defensive record

Yes, both fair shouts. Tom would have this in the bag had he not left.

Because of the impact achieved by providing an alternative to his predecessors, Will Norris is high on my list.

H has even managed to quieten his hypercritical, disparaging whinger in the Habbin at last - so he probably deserves it for the season's efforts but for me Leon Legge is the rock that the team has been built on, especially now he has Josh alongside him

I can't really decide who our best player has been this year, for me no one has really stood out and been visibly better than the rest. However I haven't been to many away games this year, which has been where our best form is.

In defence we've been pretty solid, and Barry Fuller has been consistantly working his socks off, like he does every year.

At the other end all of our strikers have good games every now and then, they seem to take it in turns, and I wouldn't say any of them are really pots candidates.

As an edit I wanna add Paul Robinson alongside Barry, can't believe I forgot him in the first place.

No surprises with that, was surprised when he dropped down to L2. Solid professional who won't kick up a fuss when he's not in the team and will always do a job when called upon.

Despite Matty Taylor scoring 21 goals so far, player of the year has to go to Tom Lockyer! Unbelievable centre half and at 21 years old has already made 150 appearances for us!

Good to see Alex doing well for you guys, awful injury, honestly thought
it would end his career, sooo glad it didn`t
Yeah he's been decent. 8 goals from a wide position isn't too shabby and he's got great movement too.

Considering the severity of his injury I'm amazed he's still got a fair amount of pace. He'd probably get my vote for POTY.

I actually think he'd do well as a striker alongside stockley. He's scored a couple of headers along with some tidy finishes, so that along with his pace and movement would make him a decent striker imo. I understand he played as a striker with you guys?
