Massive result tonight really, another big cock up from Spennymoor who only draw 1-1.

that means 7th spot is wide open on saturday between 4 sides....

7. BPA 60 points (+9)
------------------------
8. Spennymoor 60 points (+3)
9. Blyth 58 points (+7)
10. York 58 points (+5)

Boston must be kicking themselves for flogging it at Nuneaton midweek.

4 games only matter these are the ones.

Brackley vs York
Kidderminster vs BPA
Nuneaton vs Blyth
Spennymoor vs Southport

very hard to say because all 4 could easily lose them games.

saying that Gainsborough vs Tamworth could still be interesting with the fact Nuneaton may currently go bust.

Its a resounding NO to the extra two play offs for me. Neither Chorley or whoever get 7th deserve a play off spot?

that i agree on, have said it a while now and no offence meant to the sides in those positions, but Chorley fans seemed to want Jansen out for large chunks of the season and now he's a chance of promotion and well......7th place has been a ridiculous battle for sides having horrendous chunks of form. i don't see what purpose it brings at all, it is as if they tried to design it to allow Stockport a play-off spot to get them back into the National and then in season it comes in they finally finish in top 5.

So we're probably playing BPA. Should be an interesting game on Saturday. I'd prefer us to rest some key players but the psychological effects of potentially losing to the team we'll end up playing a few days later could be something to consider.

Also very much agree with AndyPark. Spennymoor's April has been laughable. So many dropped points in "easy" games.

Spennymoor :fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl::fl:

As i recall they won the league three consecutive seasons (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12), they didn't even bother to apply for promotion. So comes as no surprise that they've bottled it. Groves as had a rethink of going any higher :ds:

Fancy dress at Leamington for Salford City supporters with a large number planning to go as Roman gladiators, as they plan their assault onwards and upwards towards the National League Colosseum! :hail: Neville!!!

It would be laughable if we somehow managed to scrape into 7th place now. There's no way we deserve any chance of promotion after this abortion of a season.

Do you think Brackley have taken too much on with the Trophy as well?

The Trophy shouldn't really be an issue now you wouldn't think - as since the SF a club should just be able to put it to bed psychologically as the final isn't happening until May 20th. No-one would swap a Trophy win for promotion would they... so no excuse to be 'distracted'.

I think we've got a few injuries, some knackered players who've had to fit in too many games in too short a period (which cost us a playoff spot last year when the same thing happened) and perhaps have not been 100% focused / mentally tired. Pitch is shocking, which isn't helping.

Certainly wouldn't fear playing us at the moment...

Brackley's pitch is shocking at the moment. On any other week of the season our game vs Chorley would surely have been called off. It has rained non stop today - pitch will be a complete mess - yet I presume we can't postpone a game on the last weekend. Doubt the pitch will be anything but a mess come next Saturday either, so Stockport / Chorley players should pack their wellies. Our groundsman has frequently won awards for the quality of the pitch, so its not incompetence / lack of investment - just endless rain (mind you allowing our 'feeder club' and occasionally MK Dons U23s play on it hasn't helped).

Just so you know you'd be playing us or the tbd 7th place on Sunday 6th May not Stockport/Chorley

Sorry to any Spennymoor, York and Blyth fans who were hoping we'd put up a fight. We've got a lb and a very young and inexperienced cb partnership for us today.

Full time club spending out of their means is the short answer.

To be fair, their budget is no more than 250k and I don't think they are even *really* full time? I think I read somewhere that they train 3 days a week rather than 2 evenings?

That said, a club with their gates can't afford even 250k as a budget without a benefactor.

Are Kidderminster full time?

I see BPA are having to cut their "unsustainable" budget next season.

Meanwhile Darlo fans have raised 73.5k to boost next season's budget so hopefully we can have a decent budget but without eating into our sustainability (for once)

Darlo baggsy Adam Boyes first.

I've seen many a bad performances home and away this season, but tonight's was one of the worst I've witnessed. Apart from the first 15-20 minutes or so where we looked pretty comfortable taking the lead through a brilliant effort from Josh Gillies, things were looking good?

Instead of moving forward and getting stuck into Southport. We somehow for some strange reason went back over with some shocking defending, a rare Josh Heaton mistake cost us big style. That gave Southport the upper hand and gradually took control of the game.

Southport played very well and grabbed hold of the game by the scruff of the neck, and were gradually just increasing their goal advantage by adding further goals and possibly could have had more, overall can't complain best team won on the night.

Too many of our player's just weren't at the races tonight, probably a game we wanna forget. I thought the pitch had a terrible bobble that made it tricky for the player's to control the ball.

Bit disappointed with it being the last home game of the season, need some fine tuning with our squad during the summer with one or two more additions and obviously move one or two out of the club?

Biggest problem is who is going to take the likes of Caton, burgess and Marrs considering the money that they are on (thanks Martin Gray)

It'll be even more hilarious watching Gray (who, with a million pound full time budget in a part time league, and having lost more matches than won as manager) taking credit for achieving the play off goal.
