Christ Stockport you’ve ballsed that up. No idea on the other two but McGhee is an arrogant, condescending prick who will alienate your squad and your fanbase. Im not quite sure how he’s twisted you into giving him an interview let alone a contract.

He really is a proper toad of a man who no one deserves associated to their football team.
We didn’t interview him - he’s the new manager’s choice and he’s assistant manager so he won’t be doing interviews or anything so won’t get chance to piss off the fans.

Just shite appointments all round.

Handed this Rusk guy a 3 and a half year deal too. Mental.

Seems like a real punt by the Stockport board. You were doing well so it's not easy to improve and if Rusk gets off to a moderate start the pressure ramps up very quickly.
I've watched Notts sack managers doing a good job in the false belief that they weren't and we've always ended up with a relegation scrap within eighteen months.

3 and a half year deal bloody hell!! Managers can go wrong in 10 games, madness. Any clubs signing new contracts right now manager or players is sheer stupidity as the season could be gone by next week and you’re all on furlough, bar the newbies which is not allowed.

Nah, he’ll just piss off the players!

Did not see that coming, hopefully the fuller statement that is due to follow will give clarity on his reason(s) for departing the football club.

Genuinely wish DB all the best, the football we played last season was comfortably the most attractive football I’ve seen a Wealdstone side play.

That is a surprise, Tim Flowers must be looking over his shoulder now.

If Wealdstone have sacked Brennan that's madness. Surprising that the official statement makes no mention of resignation.

Very very unusual. Are there any clubs in the area looking for a new manager? I’d say us given the history but I doubt that we’d back Flowers like we have if he was a stop gap (and we already had DB in the door when we surprisingly went to the second choice of TF).

I know things haven’t looked rosy at Wealdstone for the last few weeks but that doesn’t really explain this.

Surely going somewhere else? Would be a completely bizarre sacking, particularly as they’ve been on such a wild signing spree.

Maybe been caught out tapping himself up to another club and they got rid to save face?

Seems odd.

There is a post on Instagram in response to the official club announcement, from Dean Brennan’s wife

”the snakes will be in charge on Saturday. You live and learn and karma is a bitch”.

Been a few rumours recently about the dynamics at the club, now this shock news and this post. Will probably become a lot clearer in the next 48 hours but that doesn’t sound to me like someone who walked or someone offered a job elsewhere..

I am at a loss as to who you can afford who might do a better job.
Only Dean Brennan has gone, so maybe we stick with Stuart Maynard.

There will be plenty of applications, as there are lots of managers out of work, both your last 2 managers are available.

No point appointing anyone now until the vote is decided, if there is no relegation or no football.

Jesus Christ you do not ever want to advertise that Beadle is available for a job at your club.

Please do not do it to yourself.

Currie would be a tremendous appointment (I can’t express how great he was to have around the club for us) but he left us to not work with the appalling budget that TK said he’d have to work with and so I do doubt he’d be willing to work in similar situations. I do also think he should be looking at league positions. Wimbledon wouldn’t be bad for him actually.

Stonesnet would rightly go into meltdown if Peter Beadle was appointed as the next manager.

Let's see how Stuart Maynard gets on first, he's always been an assistant but could seamlessly take on the role and we wouldn't need to bring anybody in externally.

Wonder if SM is who Brennan’s wife was referring to as a snake on Instagram?

Don't suppose you've also got a Director of Football who's looking to get his mate a job?

Nope, we have a board of Directors mostly fans for over 40 odd years, chairman has been in place about 2 years. He was appointed after a money man and ex supporter Peter Marsden was ousted, though he had invested and wasted an extortionate amount of money.

Marsden is ex Accrington Stanley chairman, he was appointed but as he was putting the money in would not listen to other board members. Was giving out silly contracts and also made all the decision. He sacked our manager of over 20 Years and appointed the Hungerford manager, not interviewing or looking for anyone else.

Once our present Chairman Rory Fitzgerald took over the writing was on the wall for Bobby Wilkinson. He was replaced by Dean Brennan after interviewing a lot of good applicants. Exceeded expectations and got us promote, but recently has continually mentioned we are part time can’t compete. He has signed a lot of players but not played many of them, though most on non contract expenses. We have been poor defensively and that hasn’t been dealt with.

Something has gone on as this came out of the blue and his assistant Stuart Maynard has been put in charge for Saturday.

Update from the Stones board on Dean Brennan's departure. Board were unhappy with some "controllable aspects" of the first team in the last couple of months, so much so that they wouldn't consider offering Dean a new contract this summer when his deal ran out. Dean therefore decided he couldn't continue in his current role and left.

His assistant Stuart Maynard remains. A coach and GK coach leave with Dean.

Sounds delusional on the part of your board, and crazy that his job was even considered to be at risk at this point.

Who is going to do a better job on your budget?

It depends what the "controllable aspects" were. Its all a bit cryptic. Lots of rumours flying around about the dynamics on the playing side which if true, will no doubt have contributed to what the board felt Dean should have been controlling better.

I do agree he and Stuart Maynard did a fantastic job with the budget available. But we know from when we recruited Dean, there will be huge interest in the role with the quality of applicant even higher now given the level we are at.

At least we have a board, that interviewed for the position last time. As opposed to an owner who just grabs the cheapest option.
remind me how many managers you’ve been through in the last 25 years.
