He just seemed dismissive of everyone and everything - club, players, fans, whatever. I mean the state we were in he was probably right on the first two, but you’ve got to try and get people on side and he just didn’t seem to have any intention of trying to do that. Came across as extremely arrogant and distant.

I remember him making some distinctly odd decisions as well. Bury away stuck in my mind for some reason so I just looked it up - he played Enzio Boldewijn, Lewis Alessandra and Nathan Thomas as part of a four man midfield in a 4-0 defeat. Baffling
Sounds very reminiscent of Lawrie Sanchez. Not encouraging.

The flipside is that we were a mess when he came in. We were favourites to win the league at the start of that season, so when he took over expectations weren’t really were they perhaps should’ve been with what happened afterwards. I think he’d have kept us up if he hadn’t been sacked, but I was in favour of it on personality alone. Just didn’t like him.

He did a better job at Crawley where expectations were a bit lower, I think. He tries to play nice football too. I don’t think it’s necessarily a terrible appointment - you’ll obviously be much better than you were this season - but of the two ex-Notts managers who seemed a possible fit for this, Ardley would’ve been a much better bet. As would just making Brennan manager quite possibly.

Kewell was sacked three days we lost 4-0 at Barnsley in the cup, his post match interview was fairly disastrous. It started fine but then he became increasingly chippy at the line of questioning then provoked a fan meltdown by asking the interviewer: “Where was yous (he said ‘yous’, not ‘you’, or even ‘we’, or ‘Notts’) when I took over?” The die was cast from then really.

You can watch said interview here. Starts getting chippy about 4 mins in, ‘yous’ bit is about 5.40

I thought he was very reasonable, I'm surprised he carried on talking to the reporter who was goading him.

Mark Hudson now 1/10 with Skybet to be our new boss, and betvictor have suspended betting on him.

Two spells as Hudds caretaker doesn't exactly fit the Going For It profile. Any suggestion of an older head to assist him?

Not sure, but I can imagine he won't have the final say on who he brings in, it'll be more of a 'head coach' sort of role I'd imagine.

Didn't you hire a similar sort of manager?

I think it would be more his leadership qualities and experiences as a player, and the things he's picked up working as a coach under people like David Wagner and the Cowleys that would appeal. He's an unknown quantity but as a head coach with a well resourced back room? I can see it working- although I'd definitely prefer to see some experience coming in as assistant etc if its someone like him. We definitely won't be getting some old head whose knocked around non league for years (sorry Jim Gannon) as some fans seems to want, that definitely doesn't fit the profile.

Yes, a peon for the Director of Football, with an older head (McGhee) alongside him.

I can see us going down a similar route. It seems to be the order of the day at the moment.

There are loads on social media going absolutely berserk, hahahaha.

I think they actually expected us to prise the Cowleys from Portsmouth.

Similar with us, although we don’t actually have a Director of Football or anything like that. Or a proper assistant for that matter any more. But still a head coach.

I'd be a bit underwhelmed with that tbh. Thought they were going for Casey Stone?

Not much wrong with his interview there. The BBC Nottingham interviewer was a bit of a plonker imo.

Following the Notts and Stockport route of hiring unknown randomers. It’s worked for them to be fair.

Barnet could be the place to watch football next season after Kewell had Oldham as top scorers and worst defence in League Two. He was sacked after the 0-0 with us, utterly unacceptable to not score a goal against Southend last season so clearly the correct decision.

Stockport County's position when Jim Gannon was sacked: 4th
Stockport County's final position: 3rd

Notts County's position when Neal Ardley was sacked: 5th
Notts County's final position: 5th

If your ambition is to improve, I'd suggest looking elsewhere than the management-by-committee approach we've taken

So you’ve improved then.

We were actually 6th when Ardley left

It’s ok they’ve got Dean Brennan to sort the defensive side of things.:ffs:

Latest odds for the Wrexham job:

Dave Challinor 6/4
Mark Hudson 4/1
Chris Powell 7/1
Rob Page 7/1
Stephen Frail 8/1
Phil Parkinson 10/1
Daryl McMahon 12/1
Graham Alexander 16/1
John Askey 16/1
Mark Hughes 16/1
Michael Flynn 16/1
Nigel Clough 16/1

One of the Wrexham podcasts have now claimed Hudson is no longer in the running, and I cannot see it being Challinor now as well. Chris Powell has just entered the frame but I don't know a great deal about him, but has experience managing in the football league. Rob Page at 7/1 is wild.

Rob Page, fresh from Euros success with Wales, to turn up in non-league football?

Still, I suppose we bagged Sven in L2 so anything is possible.

We will be announcing the manager next week. It’s absolutely watertight in terms of names and nobody has even a ‘solid’ rumour of who it is.
