Up until Christmas i though both Carlisle and Crawley would fall away especially if they lost one or two players in the window.
I knew Exeter would suffer in the new year because of there cup runs.
My thoughts on this are Carlisle will finish above Exeter but Exeter are a lot better team.......Promotion was a given to Exeter from November onwards but they have put too many eggs in one basket......Carlisle have just gone for promotion and nothing else.

I would be very surprised if Carlisle dropped out of the promotion effort. While they didn't have any stand-out star players, they played very well as a unit and if they had been more clinical would have got something out of the trip to Birkenhead. Agree their heavy fixture schedule as a result of postponements may make it harder for them to make the automatics but by no means impossible, as they're only a few points outside with games in hand.

I thought Bolton won the league in November.

Our team just came back from having Covid and no games for 4 weeks so what did you expect? Yet we still had enough to beat your toothless side.
Just saying you're not a very good side at all, yeah we were crap. Both our main players, Randall and Randell have been injured, we're a relegation team without them, and we still dominated the game against you, just couldn't score. No chance will Carlisle finish anywhere near the top 3. Might clinch the last play off place if you're lucky.

Yes I agree. Dismissing a team when you've watched them once or twice at most seems to me to be the sensible and logical thing to do.

Now that I think of it, Bradford should be top because we couldn't beat them in two attempts, and their back line has got to be the best in the league too. And Morecambe and Scunny should be 23rd and 24th respectively cos we put 10 goals past them. And so on.

You see this graph Devon_Lad? A team who isn't a good side would not have had so many more shots on goal than the rest of the league and also pointlessly passing the ball around and not doing anything with it does not make you a good side.

And (currently) actual goals scored per game:
Exeter 1.85
Carlisle 1.48
"Shots on target" are all well and good, but count for nothing if they don't go in!

Of course, we might have spent so far this season "pointlessly passing around"......into the opponents' net.

Carlisle fans may look at this is a positive graph, however I see it as quite negative. 34 goals scored and your top scorer is on 7. Lack of a decent goalscorer is going to cost you an automatic spot.

Plymouth’s top scorer has 10 goals (so say expected 12/13 if season had finished)

Crewe’s had only 14.

If you get goals from everywhere it can work. Mind you what happened to Melish? He was banging them in early season.

The graph means next to nothing. Is that your evidence that you're going to walk the league? You looked more than awful against us, and on the highlights I've seen. I understand you post on here with rose tinted glasses on, but I'm entitled to my opinion that you're not a very good side, and I seriously cannot see you getting anywhere near the promotion spots.

You're rightly not in them now and it'll stay like that - You'll no doubt say 'BUT WE HAVE GAMES IN HANDS', which is the exact argument you rubbished just a few pages back when you were top and other teams below you had games in hand.

Yes.

That's DAMN RIGHT the graph is enough evidence we're gonna walk the league.

We don't just rely on 1 player banging the goals in like you do with Mulin, because when his goals dried up you went on a bad run didn't you.

We're unbeaten in the last 6 league games and Mullin has only scored in 2 of those games. If we rely too much on one player it's Hoolahan.

Very lazy post Carver. As mentioned above, Mullin has been on a bit of a drought of late. Hadn't scored in 6 until Saturday. Over those 6 games it's been a 14 point return.

Our blip at the end of autumn/early winter was when Boateng got injured.

Joe Ironside also has 11 goals.

agreed on that Hoolahan was a class above anyone else on the pitch against us on Saturday.

We've had 19 different scorers in the league. Twine is top scorer with 6.

We’ve had 18 in all comps.

Only Devante Dave is in double figures though.

Could you drop Boss Embleford an email explaining that exact thing, please?

Oh so it's actually a 40 something year old winger you rely too much on?

Im sure he will keep you right in the league above if you get there.

Where would Carlisle be without their world class center back?

You mean the one who is at his peak?

We were doing fine even before he arrived, we just felt like strengthening our squad, which is the stronger than yours.

Would you swap your squad for Wes Hoolahan, Paul Mullin and Joe Ironside? I know I wouldn’t.
You may have a bigger squad but our starting XI is stronger than yours.

I will be watching at 2.30 to see how you fair today.

No I would not want an old man and a Tranmere reject playing for us thank you.

Whenever we've had any players out injured we had no real worries as someone just as good was able to come into the first team, whether from our reserves or youth team.

When Super John Mellish was out injured and our reserve back up also out, one of our youth players had to step in and he ended up getting man of the match!
