Yeah I’d go out on a limb and say we’ll be top 3. We’re improving and the games I’ve watched only Boston really have somewhat stood out. They battered us first half, I remember commenting at half time on here. Second half we took control and won the game. I don’t want to come across arrogant but anything other than promotion and we’ve underperformed. I mean how many teams in this division are full time. Our budget got slashed but should surely be top 2/3 in this division. I’ve heard York’s is a lot bigger but that’s it
Steve Watson is on record saying playing budget is a lot lower than last season and looking at squad I would def believe this,he also said their is a lot left in budget to add when a player he wanted became available.

It predicts that we will finish 8th. Btw I think that's bollox. No way we will finish lower than 7th.
A month ago you said on here that we'd be lucky to sneak in to the play-offs!

Well we're currently 2nd in the table, but 7th in the PPG league. If the season completes I'm guessing that's around where we'll finish. We are currently 2nd in the 6 game current form league and have 3 very winnable games coming up, but this is Chester we're talking about.

Gavin Cowan must be on thin ice at Telford another poor result on home to day.

I cant believe either cowan or heath are still in a job. They are both useless managers.

Only a year and half ago some Harriers fans were calling for us to go for Cowan and I think we made an approach

Jason Gilchrist and Gabby McGill signed today to help with fixture backlog.Happy with Gilchrist from South Shields hopefully will play instead of Cassidy.
McGill striker from Dunfermline can’t wait for forum to crash chairman’s son.some are totally anti McGill.

Those will be pointless. Season will more than likely be stopped at a minimum in a matter of days

Could go either way,if clubs furlough all players it would cost the government more money or give grants out, either way not ideal.
Gateshead have also signed 2 South Shields defenders and Guiseley taken a few from Hyde,so not really a risk and players will go back to parent clubs.
My view is league should be played in full, tinpot trophy should be scrapped.

You lot can feck off? Played in full? Who with? 75% of the league`s clubs cannot afford to continue? You wanna play with yourselves? Idiots.

I can't see it continuing. Our club has caught it probably from Steve Watson as he tested positive days after our game. Wouldn't be surprised then if Gloucester have potentially caught it from us.

I would like it to continue as right now football is a break mentally but I think for the safety of everyone it can't.

Someone on Deva Chat has posted that Chesterfield have applied to the National League hardship fund despite signing 9 players and some of those for fees. He also said they have a first team squad of 32 players.

Wind your neck in and read my post.
Which bit did you not understand?
If Clubs furlough players would cost gov more money than giving a grant like I said.that’s why I put could go 2 ways leaving it open to fulfil the season.

Had big shoes to fill with Asante going and didn't really impress that much other than a hat-trick against Maldon. Seemed keen to impress but that resulted in him holding onto the ball and trying too much alone. But there's a good player there, probably needs more game time.

Our chairman has said we will be voting to finish the season, he said today that budget was considerable lowered from last season ,for worst case scenario and could stand till end of season without fans.
Mind boggles how much squad last season were on.

Does he mean finish, as in complete or finish as in end it now.

Play on: York City can survive season without fans says chairman Jason McGill

“I don’t want the season to be curtailed,” McGill said. “I want us to continue to play because we’ve started the season, we’ve signed players and we’ve put a budget together. That budget didn’t take into account having any supporters through the gates because that’s the worst scenario. Anything else was a bonus."

Very easy to say that with the Ben Godfrey money and and finance left from the completion of Bootham Cresent sat in your back pocket. But also the owners at the likes of York, Fylde, Brackley etc have soaked up losses for years. What about clubs where there is no single money man stood behind them to fund them to the end of the season? No club should be forced to take on debt to complete the season when that wasn't what was agreed when the season kicked off.

I'm torn personally.
  • The sensible option is to curtail the season. More than 75% of this league is semi-pro. Lads are working a day job potentially mixing with others then going into training / matches and mixing with a new group and then going home to their own families and mixing with more. All with no testing. Its not safe for them and their families and its already resulted in a league that is mostly well behind in its fixtures. Darlo have 30+ games to play by the end of May. We only have 1 spare Tuesday left in the season. After that it will have to be Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday games which effects the integrity of the competition.
  • The financial position is now on a knife edge. You can't ask clubs to take out loans to complete the season when they have no idea how or when they will have the income to pay them back. Its the definition of trading insolvent and puts the directors of clubs at risk in the event of insolvency.
  • But I can't deny I hope they find a way to get grants and keep it going. Football that I actually care about and am invested in (none of the premier league VAR crap) has been a very welcome escape. I live in the Southeast for work so my attendance at games is limited but this season I've been able to watch every single one which has been a huge plus personally.
Its not an easy decision and you will displease people whichever way it goes but for once the National League needs to show some strong leadership and take charge of the situation.

Pretty sure our dumb govt said that the NL money was in the form of grants. If they had made it clear that it was via loans, can`t believe the season would ever have restarted. Crazy, duplicitous, but sadly exactly in line with how BoJo and his incompetents have handled every issue they have had to deal with. One moron leaves office today, pity the one in Westminster isn`t following suit. Political rant over, no idea how the NL clubs will fix this. Brackley Chairman one of the twelve who co-signed the note to reinstate the loan principle. Let`s wait and see.....

Crazy entertaining game played played in a Gale we led 2-0 playing with the wind then in the second half with the wind picking up we struggled to get the ball out of our own half and they got two back, we then put two forwards on and the game flowed from end to end. We scored in the 89th minute and they equalised in the 92nd.

He is son of York chairman, came through our academy and Middlesbrough paid a fee for him before going to Scotland.
Hardly ever works having relations in the team.

When we had the gangster Steven Vaughan as chairman he played his two lads: Steven jnr and James. Both were sh1te, but amazingly they had been in Liverpool's academy.

Last season finished for us with a defeat at BPA (who finished the season with only a handful of wins) and this season could end after another disappointing result albeit 3-3 at BPA.. I honestly thought we'd win it when we were 2-0 up at h/t, but we've got this habit of chucking points away at the death.

He'll be outvoted, but his counterparts in the National League might not be.
