Similar to last season, predict points and results for the coming month.

Bolton (A) - We really should be winning this, massive dampener if not. 0-2 Win
Charlton (H) - Not really sure how good their new players are to be fair, but I think we'll get the win. 2-1 Win
Middlesbrough (H) - Two teams who really should fight it out for promotion and both have added real quality to their sides, will cancel each other out. 1-1 Draw
Birmingham (A) - Could be close and Gary Rowett is a decent manager so I will say draw for this one. 1-1 Draw
Leeds (H) - Looks fairly straightforward on paper, although football isn't played on paper. Should still get a win though. 2-0 Win

To be fair it seems we have a fairly good start in terms of fixtures for this season, apart from Middlesbrough. Still though, if we can get 11 points and be unbeaten I would be delighted.

Birmingham (A) - Will have a lot of first teamers out/not fit. Memories of last season's 6-1 loss.. Loss
Colchester (A) - Cup. Win
Leeds (H) - We seem to always beat Leeds, first home game. Win
Sheff Weds (A) - Another team we have a decent record against. Hard to say as they'll have a largely new team and ours will be a lot different. Draw
MK Dons (H) - Don't think MK Dons have a very good team for this level yet, and new signings might not be in/gel in time for this game. Win
Brentford (A) - Play a style that our defence last season couldn't cope with, despite changes can't see anything other than one result. Loss

Would be 7 points from 5 in the league and through in the cup with that. Not awful, but a steady start. Potentially all of those games could be winnable, a few teams that I would consider bottom half, and many have had big changes in the Summer. Really hard to say until i've seen how our new team plays too..

Sheffield Wednesday (A) 3-1 Loss.

Luton (A) Cup 1-0 Loss. We don't do the Capital One Cup.

Brentford (H) 1-1 Draw.

Leeds (H) 1-2 Loss. 36 years since we beat them in the league. Lost every one during that time. Our cup win against them in 97 was irrelevant anyway as they won on aggregate.

Boro (A) 3-1 Loss. Decent record up there recently but we'll do well to get a result this time.

Burnley (H) 2-1 Win. Ending a torrid month on a high after finally bringing in a few players.

Brentford (A) - Tough game to start the season, I'm hopeful we can get a result but not the end of the world if we lose. Lose
Sheffield Wednesday (H)
- Wednesday seem to be building a strong team, but our home record was excellent last year and I hope that can continue. Win
Burnley (H)
- I don't think Burnley will be as good as two years ago, still solid and hard to beat though. Draw
Preston (A)
- The kind of game we didn't win last season, but need to if we want to push on. Win
Brighton (H)
- Think Brighton will improve a lot on last season, but still confident of a win. Win

If we come out of August with 10 points I'll be very happy, some potentially tricky games there.

Ipswich (H) - we didn't do particularly well against them last season, but with Bjelland in we look much more assured at the back. Also looks like we might lose a player or two in the week before. Tricky game, but I'll go for 1-1. Draw.

Oxford (H Cup) - 2nd string get an easy home win. Win.

Bristol City (A) - their first home game back at this level, so could be tough. Small squad and few additions mean I think we'll win their 3rd game in a week. Win.

Birmingham (H) -
did well against them last year, should continue this year. Win.

Burnley (A) -
not sure what to expect, not played them in a long time. They are tough to beat, and that can be our Achilles heel. Lose.

Reading (H) -
I expect us to win here to round off a decent month. Win.

Like Ipswich then, 8-10 points and going through in the cup would be a very good return from a potentially tricky first month.

Rotherham (a) - 2-2 draw to kick off our first game in the championship, better than losing!

Leyton Orient (h) COC - think we will win this fairly comfortably 3-0 even playing a weakened side.

Preston (h) - we always lose to Preston no matter what. 3-1.

Bolton (h) - first win of the season 2-1 Dons.

Reading (a)
Big loss in this game, think we'll get rolled over. 4-0.

Birmingham (h)
- Another loss this month losing 2-0 with a Gleeson screamer.

So 4 points after 5 league games spelling a tough season ahead.

I've got a lot of optimism after the Villarreal game, so I'll say:

Bolton - 3-0 win - It looks as if everyone will be fit and raring to go, while they look to be carrying a few injuries and uninspiring form.
Charlton - 2-1 win - first home game back. I think Charlton will do well this season, but I think we will put a strong performance in at home - I'd imagine 31+ thousand will be there.
Middlesbrough - 1-0 loss - we didn't do well against Karanka's side last season, and I don't expect that to change. If Rhodes does sign, he also likes a goal against us.
Birmingham - 2-1 win - If we do lose to Middlesbrough, I imagine we will make a few changes and give a few players will get a chance. Darren Bent's first start, maybe?
Leeds - 2-2 draw - I really do think Leeds will do well this season, and I have no doubt they will be underestimated early on. I expect them to get a point against us.

10 points, five games. 9 goals scored, 4 conceded.

Blackburn (a) DRAW - We have a good record against them of late, but I think we're playing them at the worst time whilst they still have Rhodes and Gestede in the team.

Newport (cup (h) LOSE - we always lose to L1/L2 sides in the first round. Pisses me right off.

Hull (h) LOSE - We have a shit record against these lot.

QPR (h) DRAW - Another tough game, can't see much ahead of a draw.

Cardiff (a) DRAW - Starting to get a feeling we will do this frequently this season...

Charlton (h) DRAW - 0-0 written all over this one.

So yeah, 4 points, 0 wins, 4 draws, 1 defeat and knocked out of the cup, leaving us about 19th in the table. Wolves and Charlton have both got some very tough fixtures at the start of the season.

Not feeling particularly optimistic right now with a squad of about 16 first team players, a few of whom are nowhere near good enough for this level.

MKat Dons (H) - Win - Can't see anything other than a win, Mkat will be the whipping boys i reckon.

Cambridge (Cup) (H) - Win - Easy win and into the second round.

Forest (A) - Draw - May seem optimistic but Forest don't seemed to have improved at all this summer and still no Britt.

Preston (H) - Win - Again I've said newly promoted teams will struggle, so can't see anything other than a win, can see how midfield overpowering theirs and their defence is suspect.

QPR (A) - Loss - They've got far too much quality for us to expect anything more than a respectible loss.

Fulham (H) - Draw - Our players will be extremely pumped up for this after Pringle's comments, Evans will make sure of that but Fulham have built a decent side so a decent game and a draw.

8 points on the board would set us up for a good season.

Ugh, here goes.

Sheffield Wednesday (A) - 3-0 loss. Think we'll get battered, sparking a massive overreaction from our fans. This isn't because Wednesday are anything special, it's simply because we're under-prepared.

Brentford (H) - 2-1 win. Just think we'll get off to a winning start. Admittedly, Brentford have a decent side, but I don't think our first 11 is the problem. No injuries until then and I think we'll start off at home with a win.

Leeds (H) - Do I really even need to make a prediction for this game? We all know what's going to happen - exactly the same thing that happens every time we play Leeds. 1-3.

Middlesbrough (A) - 3-1. They have a very strong squad, and I expect them to challenge top two this season. I'd be over the moon with a draw.

Burnley (H) - 3-1 win. Don't think Burnley are anything special in this league, and confident we'll get past them.

Extremely tough first month.

Hopefully we can take a bit of momentum in the season and start well.

Middlesbrough H - DRAW - we seem to draw a lot on the opening day, expecting a dour, edgy game.

Crewe A (League Cup) - LOSS - play the kids, lose on penalties.

MK Dons A - WIN - good record against Karl Robinson and i'm hoping it continues, don't think they've strengthened much.

Rotherham A - DRAW - Expect Rotherham to be down near the bottom again and I think we will go down there to grind one out.

Ipswich H - WIN - Good team but don't see why we can't beat them at home.

Hull A - LOSS - One of those standard 2-0 defeats you get away from home every season.

Hard to judge us really, expectation is high, the results in pre-season haven't been very good but i wouldn't read too much into that

(H) Bristol City - Win, start the season with a win get everyone excited
(H) Mansfield - Win, comfortable home win
(A) Ipswich - Lose We've got a poor record at Portman Road i think, back to reality
(H) Reading - Win, We've not had a bad record over the past couple of seasons against Reading, one of the few teams we actually beat at Hillsborough last season
(A) Leeds - Draw, first of the two always ends in a draw
(H) Middlesborough - Draw, they'll be up there at the end of the season, a respectable draw

8 points from the first 5, i'd take that

Ah yes, not exactly sure how we lost that game. Don't think you even registered a shot on target but still won!

Off target free kick that got deflected IIRC.

only remember it as it was our keeper (Andersen) first game and he had nothing to do all game but we still lost.

Sheff Weds (A) - WIN. Fancy us for this. A lot's been made of the difference in our respective transfer windows but think that could play into our hands here, may take a while for some of their new guys to settle.

Luton (A) LOSE. Standard first round exit

Brentford (H) DRAW. Tough one, a very good side but, first home game back and that, reckon we'll get something

Leeds (H) LOSE. Always lose this. Literally never known us take so much as a point off them.

Middlesbrough (A) LOSE. Again, very tough. Adomah to remind us all what he's all about :(

Burnley (H) WIN. End the month on a high.

7 points would be solid enough given our tricky start.

Interesting to see 3 out of 4 Bristol City fans banking on 3 points against Burnley - mind you they were in League One when the Clarets were powering to promotion 2 years ago, so probably don't realise how much stronger we are than the last time they were in the championship.

For a start, Lee "The Flapper" Grant was in goal the last time we played City - now we have Tom Heaton (a member of the full England squad).

Cotterill was sacked by Burnley so he might try to get his players extra fired-up. But we were written off by many when finishing 2nd 2 years ago, so it might not be a bad thing that Boro and Derby are nearly everyone's automatic picks.

Scott Loach was in the England squad recently too, now he's just got a move to Notts County. I like Heaton, he's a good goalkeeper for this league, but being 3rd GK choice for England isn't that much to shout about in all honesty. Barring injuries to the player ahead of him he wont ever play.

I don't really rate Burnley to be honest, without sounding disrespectful. Nearly half your team (5 players at last count) are made up of Wolves rejects so to speak of. I can't really see where your goals will come from this season, and losing Trippier/Shackell will leave a big hole in your defence. Now the novelty Blackpool effect of being in the Prem has worn off, I think you'll be somewhere in midtable with a bunch of clubs (us included).

I'm sure you'll give me a statistic that Burnley had the 14th highest goal to game ratio last season to prove me wrong though...

Just because you had such a good season before doesn't mean you'll do equally as well now you've come down. It doesn't always, and tbh doesn't usually, work out like that. Also, Ings, Trippier and Shackell - that's 3 key players missing from that promotion side.

Don't get me wrong I don't think it will be a pushover, you've still got a good side. I just think we'll get a win from one of our opening home games and that seemed the most likely candidate

We all know how good Tom Heaton is. Didn't stop us conceding 80 goals in 44 games with him in goal mind. 7 of which were scored by you in 4-3 and 3-1 wins.

Charlton away - loss. We have a lot of new players and we had a pretty poor pre season so I do not expect a quick start to the season.

Yeovil away League Cup - loss. Purely because it's a cup and we cannot buy a win in any cup.

Cardiff home - I can't see us losing but not sure of a draw or win. Should be a sell out so I'll go with a close game but a qpr win

Wolves away - loss. They always beat us.

Rotherham home - win. On paper it's easy but this is the championship so anything can happen, but I'll keep faith with a qpr win.

Not many (or any) people saying they'd lose to us in their predictions.

Hard to tell how well we'll do this year, especially if one or two key players leave before the start of the season, but it definitely suits us to have people underestimating us again.
