There's no should have won in here, there are a couple of Barnet fans saying they would have won if they had different players on the pitch, but we or any other team could say the same, hence the Messi comment further up. At least Barnet fans are admitting that a draw was a fair result.

Oxford fans the other week however, yeah they were on cloud cuckoo after that match, saying they deserved to win because they hit the bar near the end. Bull shit, they didn't deserve to win at all, anyone could see that.

That really should have been a comfortable home win. I'm sure Matt Stevens would have put away a good portion of those chances Batt squandered. We did everything else right, though I was surprised Hackett wasn't shown red for his kick.

Carlisle were never a threat. Whenever they got infront of goal they decided a pass to Tim Peake was the safer option.

I'm just disappointed that the Sky Sports highlights (only 30 seconds long!) didn't include any Batt comedy moments..

So, again, if you scored all your chances you would've won. Bearing in mind we had more than twice as many shots as you does this not seem a slightly weird stat to bring up. If we'd scored all our attempts then we'd have won 13-0, so maybe the Football League should just promote us now.

So both teams got in front of goal but wasted the opportunities to score or at least test the keeper. The only difference being you should have won because someone not involved in the match might have scored them for you, where as we shouldn't have won because someone not involved in the match wouldn't have scored for us.

I totally agree.

The 3 yard miss from that Barnet striker is hilarious! He put it wide and nearer to the corner flag than the goal and I doubt that Akinde would of scored it either as I remember him missing a sitter as well in our meeting at home.

No one is saying both sides should have scored all their shots.
Yes you had more shots but in terms of quality of the opportunities I felt they were poor and on three occasions we had a player unmarked in the box with only the keeper to beat who failed to hit the target.
This is not saying we deserved more than a draw and is more about our frustration that a week ago we had Kevin Lisbie, Aaron McLean, John Akinde and Matthew Stevens who are all quality strikers at this level only to discover at 2pm that not only have Lisbie and McLean been allowed to leave but Akinde is injured and Stevens had been allowed to play an U18 game in the morning so wasnt available. To then discover that Gash wasnt fit , Tomlinson had not been called to play and Batt was our only fit striker available was a nightmare that pretty much destroyed any chance of us getting more than a draw.

So I feel we have a fair point if we say given our first choice strikers then we would've been more likely to score, but (repeat) that does not mean we deserved the win yesterday

I don't think we'll be blowing Oxford away any time soon to be fair. Even at home I'd take a draw against them whenever we play them, unless we desperately need a win of course.

Oh yeah, I'd forgot about that. It was probably the worst miss I've ever seen live.

That's Batt all over.
I'm sure how anyone can say that Matthew Stevens is a quality striker at this level. He has made one substitute appearance at this level! He has scored a hatful for the U-18s but it remains to be seen if that means he can be a success at senior level.

Nope. My point is we would (not should) have won under normal circumstances with Akinde playing or trying out Stevens or Tomlinson instead. With someone other than Batt up front, I'm confident a proportion of those chances would have gone in without affecting how our defence played.

This is a point about Martin Allen's team selection. He chose the team that he did and as a result ended up with no more or less than we deserved.

Sooner he gets the chance the better, 57 goals last year and over twenty already this season. I know who I'd prefer to have been given an opportunity with just the keeper to beat.

See Carlisle fans were given the choice of the terrace, as well as chance to sit. Another set of fans who had taken less than us and given the option whereas we were only allowed to purchase the more expensive seats.

Nice one, Barnet.

Yeah, sounds like Stevens is a finisher. Would he have created those opportunities Batt fluffed though? I'm hoping that Hackett will get more into future games as we're sorely lacking creativity and we're very reliant on Luke Gambin (who played well) for any inspiration.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
sounded a drab game in the radio but I think that sometimes depends what radio atmosphere is like, we sounded like we created very little yet again from open play which is very worrying....3 games now and only goals we're scoring at set pieces.

how did we do play wise, was it an all out long ball or did we go back to mixing it up?

solid point for both I suppose, but we need a win soon to get back on track or midtable is looming.

As much as Batt has shown himself to be completely useless, I think some Bees fans in this thread are going completely ott about Lisbie, McLean, Stevens and even Akinde.

I wasn't at the game but I'm happy with another point and clean sheet. We are clear of the drop zone and that's all we need to focus on this season. If we stay up, I would expect us to be far more competitive next season.

Less direct than recent, but toothless.

think we need to drop Wyke, I don't think he's that good (or maybe not developed yet), Ibehre is being marked out of the game a lot of time (as you would expect) but it therefore needs his partner to be the one who now is finding space and taking advantage.

wyke finds the space but at moment doesn't do much with it.

Batt has scored 2 goals in his last 50 appearances. I think it's a fairly safe comment to say our other strike options this season would be more likely to score.

I've seen nothing to suggest we will be better next season than this. Expect we will be our usual selves, lose key players and struggle to replace them.

Wyke is not as good as Curle makes him out to be, he hasn't scored in a few now and that is concerning.

I agree completely. However, what was repeatedly said in this thread was that we "would" have won had Akinde been playing.

I'm a big fan of Wyke; his record with us is pretty good considering he's still only 23. Having said that, I don't think Jabo/Wyke works every game.

I think you're right, Wyke and Asamoah together never seems to work much either, but in my opinion Asamoah works best on his own up front with someone playing a bit behind him.
