Didn't post for either of the previous games, i'll make this my first (sods law says we lose now).
I have no idea what to expect. I keep trying to decide whether i'm feeling optimistic or realistic.

Pro's:
A lot of our side handled themselves at Bramall Lane last season, so the environment and atmosphere won't be anything different.
Novak and Ebanks-Blake up front is infinitely better than what we had last season.
It's not a derby (unless you get nostalgic over clashes in the 80's), but it is a local clash, and owt can happen.
United fans are angry/nervous about what happens next with them. Unsure of Adkins and 2 unconvincing performances.
We beat a Barnsley side that, on paper, doesn't look any weaker than what United are due to start with.

Con's:
Some of United's players are there for a reason, they have that bit of quality that we don't, could edge it.
We've been suspect at the back, relying on Tommy too much.
We have Banks in the middle, will always support the lad, but currently he's bereft of confidence.
We haven't seen how a Saunders side does a proper away game.

I'm going to plump for an optimistic 2-1, in a very close game. O'Shea and Hird. Literally owt could happen though.

Come on town!

At least some teams can win so called rivalry matches, it would seem Chesterfield always buckle under pressure.

A deserved win in the end i thought we looked good going forward again another step forward in progress after tuesday. 1st half i still thought we looked very nervous at the back but 2nd half apart from 2 absolutely cracking balls in from chesterfield which are undefendable i was much more pleased with the defending. Onwards and upwards utb.

I expect us to sell che adams in the nxt 2 weeks

Chesterfield looked a lot better than I imagined after loosing the top3 players and manager. Definitely not relegation material.

Very enjoyable and we bounced back very well. Defended the endless corners very well and even looked good taking our own. Most noticeable change to last season was how we didn't misplace passes all the time like we did last season. Che Adams is a great prospect, if we keep him all season I think the 50/1 I got on him being top scorer was a decent bet. Sammon I expected little of but he was very impressive, hell of a lot better than Rammy 's descriptions anyway.

Sammon is involved in nearly everything going forward he was the other night too. Hes definitely not gonna score you loads but fair play to him he fucking wants it from start to finish

Mate, with analysis like that, it won't be too long before you'll be sat next to Alan Shearer on MOTD. Top stuff.

Please could we have a go at not conceding after 2 or 3 minutes of the start/re-start in the next match? and shit, maybe even try to take advantage of one of the ten + corners we get.

Sammon runs around like a mentalist, and gives 100% every game...but ultimately that's all he is. A mentalist who runs around irritating everyone.

Well done blades frustrating for us but caught napping for both goals. Whilst controlling most of the play we did nothing.

Not good enough that we couldn't score on balance of play.

Che adams just like a young kevin davies good player. Him and Sam morsy for us looked the 2 genuine championship players.

No hard feelings we need to sign a central midfielder though.

Well done United.

Disappointed. But on a day where there wasn't much between the teams, it was a case of Adams having a blinder whilst we're still papering over cracks at full back at midfield. We were unlucky at times, but sometimes it doesn't happen.

Onwards and upwards.

Ps. Did you see how bad we buckled when we won the title and then reached the playoffs in a higher league? No. That's cos sides of a lower league with no success have to brag about individual games, due to lack of long term substance.

Two ordinary sides, I thought.

We enjoyed possession but lacked the quality to capitalise whilst gifting two soft goals. Credit for the finishes, mind. Our right back Talbot guilty for the first and that seemed to effect him for the rest of the game.

Saunders is relying on last season's squad players, integrating recruits and messing around with formations in league games when it should've been done pre-season. A certain recipe for frustrating afternoons like this.

And what's 'StagsForLife' on about? Has something significant happened in their little world? Does it mean anything to us? No? Okay then.

What's the definition of a soft goal? Always see it thrown around as every goal is preventable one way or another, last week we conceded 3 from unmarked set-pieces which to me are truly soft...as opposed to Adams' second with a great 1-2 with Sammon to put him through.

I was referring to the initial tackle which was weak from our bloke. Having now seen the goal from another angle you're right, though - excellent one-two.

No complaints from me - only that I missed both the goals due to us deciding to concede very early in boths halves and I was still in the bar with many others where the atmosphere seemedf to be better than it was in the stands. We looked ok in parts, still a couple players short and don't think SEB, Talbot or Noavk looked 100% fit but hopefully that will come in time.

Onto Tuesday night now, think we can get something there.

Some going that, the timing of our conceded goals for various reasons were awful then it seems!
