Absolutely buzzing, we rode our luck at times, some sloppy passing at times gave swindon the initiative, fortunately there finishing was poor and when it did click for them Fielding was there to foil them.

But what fantastic finishing from our boys, Joe Bryan's being the pick for me.

All in all a good game from both sides bar one player who'd be more akin to all in wrestling, how Branco stayed on the pitch and we didn't get two penalties is beyond me.

On to preston to finish the job we started in August.

Ok a few thoughts having calmed down a little.

Firstly, you cant knock Swindon's midfield. I like Kasim, Luongo is clearly a very good player and I personally thought Baldwin was their best player, went to pot for them after he went off.

However, having had probably 75% possession for the first 30 mins of the second half, they really did not create anything of note in that spell

You did, but we still had numerous close calls. Gladwin forced a brilliant save, we hit the bar and the post. Tight margins which eventually decided the game.

We took the game to City tonight. Expected us to lose but the performance was tenfold better than Saturday.

We need to use our final games to work out our best team and how to be more effective against teams parking the bus like City second half.

We have no excuse for not being well drilled and ready for the play offs now. In many ways we are entering our own mini season.
I was on about the 2nd half tbh. With no space to play your intricate little passes into, I think you ran out of ideas. Just my opinion.

Secondly, they have a nasty, niggly, self destruct side that has shown through clearly losing 6 0 in 3 days, which is certainly not the sign of a good team. Very poor defensively, with and without the ball, the playing out from the goalie was bound to cause a problem against our high pressing approach.

We arent the best 'footballing' side in the division but we have great quality at the right moments and have deservedly been top basically all year.

Few quotes from the radio, Cotterill- we win with dignity, second in the fair play league. Fans- we werent three goals better but we put the ball in the net and that is what counts.

Onto Preston, draw.

Swindon are one of the best footballing sides to watch in the league but it seems to stop at that, they're toothless in front of goal of late.

Nice of the Swindon fans to stay behind to wave Flint off, they lack class. Very happy no City player saw fit to jump around like a twat after our second biggest win of the season.

Finally, the atmosphere was fantastic. Wish every game was that like.

Fair enough. I agree. We looked less likely to score as the game went on. Think we need to speed the play up at times. A few looped balls over the top on occasion wouldn't go a miss either. We have to be so precise for the way we play to be effective. Fine in an open game (ie first half) but trying to break down a very good defence sitting deep is hard for any side in League 1.

As I said we've got a few weeks to perhaps implement some new strategies for breaking teams down, otherwise we're likely to fall just short.

Not sure what TTOCS stands for but you are a muppet. I wish other City fans well but you probably have P.ness tattooed on your forearm. Enjoy your promotion

didnt think it was a 3-0 win, but certainly deserved the win. Swindon were better first half, and if it wasn't for fielding they would have led.. A few fantastic saves.

The second half, swindon had basically all the possession but I never once felt they would score.. Like someone else said, end product was poor. Think they went close when we were 2-0 up but that's it.didnt see Flint celebrate in front of the away fans, but not surprised he did.

As for Branco. That man should never be allowed near a football pitch again, an absolute joke of a football player.. He was more interested in elbowing Flint and ripping his shirt off his back than win the ball.

I think that win has got rid of any niggling doubts about getting promoted, just gotta go get that title now.. A win against preston will see to that.

Bye Bye Swindon :fl:

Now we have to shrug off a inform MK Dons side, not going to be easy.
All depends on Saturday, if you beat City I think our current high will go and some poor results will probably follow given none of your remaining fixtures look like ones you'll fail to win. Regardless of what happens though I'm expecting us to drop points against Fleetwood who nearly had us in the home leg so I think it all depends on how Saturday goes if you can settle it now or let the gap narrow and pressure grow on you.

Have to say that was an odd game. Swindon were the better side for long periods and missed some big chances at 0-0 and 1-0 down. I knew we would sit back - we have been doing it all season when Cotterill thinks we can be hurt by the opposition.

One thing that puzzled me about Swindon was the mucking about the keeper and the defence did. Cost them the first goal and almost others.

Other than that, they have a good chance in the play-offs if they become a bit more clinical.

Yeah i believe if we beat City we are unlikely to drop 5 points in the last 5 games, so it is a huge game. But city know by avoiding defeat the title is theres.

Cracking day lined up Saturday.

Was it just me or was Branco fouling Flinty at every single set play? He wasn't even looking at the ball most of the time FFS.
The straight arm on him in the second half was plain thuggery.
BTW, Swindon are a good footballing side if very cynical, but desperately need a plan B as we've shown tonight that plan A can be stopped.

Well, all I can say is that justice was well and truly served (well, maybe the three pens and a deserved red would have been fairer, ah well). Oh God, that couldn't have gone any better.

Aden Flint. You are the man.

Also credit to Agard for a great performance. JET's weighted ball to Freeman about a minute after coming on was also lovely, so everyone was a winner.

Joe Bryan loves a goal in the top right corner of the Atyeo in a derby game, eh?

Football. What a game.

Sorry lads, the title has already been won...

Why do you still feel the need to post that. 6 months have passed and you're flying towards promotion. Laughable. And apparently tonight was our cup final. Give over.

Lol, as if your fans haven't been laughing and making avatars/signatures of that moment for months. Maybe not you personally, but it's not as if it's some preposterous notion.

Fair play to Swindon, played some good football but lacked a clinical finish (or a bit of luck), we did enough to soak up the pressure and took our chances when we could. Branco though.... some choice words, missed what happened live but seen it now. Think the ref lost control of the game especially in the first half.

Flint after the game in the interview

Don't think I've seen a better footballing team than Swindon in a couple of years down at Ashton Gate. Gladwin was class and Byrne electric. But my god, what a vile bunch... How on Earth the referee missed at least two penalties and an assault on Flint. No wonder there is clear bad blood between the two sets of players.
