I’ve no heard any decent rationale as to why you can go to a sweaty gym or a busy pub, yet you can’t sit/stand in a 3/4s empty football stadium?

Are the people who represent gym owners and the pub trade just better lobbyists than the FA and NL? Cos that’s the only thing that makes sense to me.

Halifax have bought some streaming equipment that’s being installed Monday. I highly doubt we’d do that unless there was a valid reason behind it. We are very tight money wise when it comes to things like that.

Suspect the season will start behind closed doors despite the national league saying it wouldn’t. They don’t really have a choice if it could be a 6 month wait before spectators can be back. It’s live streaming or bust at this point

I don't think this is right. The furlough scheme was universal and applied to all private businesses.
I’m pretty sure clubs below 2 couldn’t furlough players. Full time staff, possibly.
Perhaps someone in the know from lower leagues could give us some info. I do know that small sports clubs and social organisations were entitled to £10,000 to tide them over. My local bowls club has never had so much money

The Chancellor is considering replacing the furlough scheme with something modelled on the German Kurzarbeit. We wait to see what is announced, should be this week.

Solihull are the latest club to come out now saying they want a restart on Oct 3 regardless, adding to Notts, Maidenhead and Boreham Wood.

Any others come out that I’ve missed?

If the players had employment contracts, which they would have done, then they would surely have been eligible.

Shots have not made a club statement, but have technology for streaming in place, thanks to Chelsea’s use of pitch for U23 games. Same applies,of course, at Boreham Wood, host to Arsenal U23’s.
For a season to take place, every club has to participate, of course. Might be to much for some without help.

Barnet haven’t expressed a preference but the latest statement implies that we are happy to stream if behind closed doors.

Our Chairman is going to make a statement in a couple of days. It'll be interesting to see what he says given he's on the National League board now. Our manager said in his post-match interview last night that unless there is financial support and/or fans allowed at games "football will die". That's not much of a hyperbole IMHO.

There’s clearly going to have to be some kind of significant financial support, but not starting the season and getting some kind of income in would be a wild step to take.

By lobbying successfully for elite status, they got their hands on furlough money, and effectively could hibernate. I guess if they repaid the government, they might be able to downgrade . But it ain’t gonna happen.

Exactly

Not an official club statement but our manager has said on Twitter that a 3rd October start is what he wants - in fact he thinks we should have started same day as the EFL.

I’m sure this will be the club view as well as we’ve invested heavily in the hope of getting back into the league ASAP.

You don’t remember Fylde hosting a massive Brexit Party rally last year?

Shit yeah how could I forget. 10’s of thousands of people roaming the streets around here. Wasn’t safe to leave the house. Cars getting toppled over, vans getting burnt out. All doors locked. All windows locked. Hope those days don’t come back

Streets?! Wesham isn’t that big!
Anyway, most of those Brexit Party subscribers were too old and decrepit to do any of those things.

We’ve confirmed we’re in favour of starting (albeit was obvious from Ardley’s interview last night).

Excellent statement, to the point, and completely in line with my own thoughts. A number of people are wringing their hands in despair, but through adversity a window of opportunity has opened, but every club must be prepared to grasp it. If we truly are “Elite” then we have to emulate EFL. by streaming of all matches.

Or the chairman telling all the fans to vote for Bojo or his businesses would lose out and have to withdraw funding in one of his video addresses.
