Got to admit I found it quite amusing how annoyed to commentator on eurosport seemed to get when they did a flyover the power plant.

Not nearly as amusing as him referring to the cooling towers as chimneys though.

Apologies K8. I am a low functioning sociopath when it comes to gawping at sporting horror shows.

And yes Creg, that amused me too. I love an idyllic hill top town as much as the next person, but some thrusting concrete and soaring autostrade to leaven all the rusticana is no bad thing, is it. Italy is the home of Futurism after all, and it was born the same year as the Giro...

Super shit luck for Porte.

> Docked 2 mins! This fucking sport. Multiple dope positives from a filthy team? Months of litigation followed by nothing done. Act of sportsmanship? DOWN WITH THAT SORT OF THING.

Gonna shoot myself in the head if I have to hear any more about Porte's bus.

Carnage. Poor old Porte can't catch a break here.

> Contador owes Tosatto a drink for that super fast bike change.

Amazing Brad.

Hope Tony Martin goes for it now. Not sure if he can touch that but I love Martin too much.

Good win for Froome and impressive ride from Simon Yates to win the white jersey.

Got a feeling Nibali has been bluffing in this Dauphine, he looked too comfortable when he was dropping back. Tearing apart the peloton today was probably just a little "I'm still here" message to Froome (I think Roche will pass it on).

It's going to be an interesting Tour this time out. I'd imagine one of the favourites will come out on top but not sure which one.

It was the British Cycling Championships in Lincoln over the weekend and I watched some of it on Saturday evening in the Bailgate before heading off into town. Wonderful weekend for it, weather wise, and on Saturday and you almost forgot you were in Lincoln and not in a foreign country.

Being from Lincoln, I probably take the that area for granted but the finishing line was on a 'square' between the Cathedral and Castle and it must have been very impressive for those who haven't been to Lincoln before.

Must have been a gruelling circuit as well, because it's basically uphill and cobbles!

Team Sky have announced a true workhorse team, setting it up for Froome if he can stay on his bike this year :)

Now I've picked my team, you can all be rest assured of the first nine riders to retire this week...

Though I am hoping to build on the success of my Dauphine team.

Dowsett will be in with a big chance of winning todays opening stage. It's a good 3/4 way battle at the top and I can't imagine the winner won't come from Froome/Contador/Nibali/Quintana.

You're sticking your neck on the line with that bold GC prediction.

Obviously, I hope for a Quintana win and this may represent his best chance. There are some decent odds knocking around for a Contador win though.

Chesterfield, We're Fucking Shit and Conference North Bound!!
I'd like to see Nairo win too Piez.

Definitely between the 4 mentioned for me. Don't think the likes of Van-Garderen and the other also-rans have enough to challenge.

Not at all surprised at Vinokourov making Lars Boom ride yesterday!! Wants all the support he can get for Nibali, although I can't see him defending.

Nibali put a strong showing in yesterday but if Froome and Contador stay on the bikes this year I don't think Nibali will be close to them.

I will mostly be supporting Thibaut Pinot but I think Froome will actually win with more comfort than most will expect.

I think it'll be close until the final few stages then we'll see Froome romp it up the nice, big mountains.
