Basingstoke looks like an easy draw, and we should see them off, but I'm always wary of the smaller sides as they always raise their game when playing a league side. There's also the little fact that we never do things the easy way.

Well same goes when you played man Utd, the gap between you boys and man Utd is many, many times bigger than that between you and Basingstoke and look what you did. That's the beauty of the cup

Apparently they can't in the FA Cup, one of the conditions of entry.

That so? I wonder if the change of sponsor did for it. Interesting one.

Lots of decent games on tv though.

after being drawn against Oldham twice in the last 3 years it makes a refreshing change to get them again when there was the option of another 78 teams.

away to the permanent quagmire at Braintree. Odds must be on the match being posponed if it rains in the few days before this tie.
We are rubbish on churned up surfaces.
Not looking forward to this one and fear the worst.

How are Braintree still on that pitch? You get a cm of snow in Sweden and Braintree gets called off

I don't care if we got Plymouth away, we will go down there and stuff em or even better get a draw and make them come up here on a Tuesday night in November.

I should be able to make the Plymouth game, look forward to seeing Jervis score an 82nd minute header to win the game 1-0. Big up any fans who go all the way from Carlisle to see this one, that is the very definition of dedication.

Fucking Oldham. Winnable and at least we're at home.

I don't think it's a bad draw really mate. More interesting to test ourselves against someone from the league above than play just another game against another L2 side.

I instantly thought of that 4-0 against Huddersfield back in the day when I saw the draw. :animatedf:

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I don't think Carlisle can argue with a bland draw since we've as such had our money draw for this season. I just feel sorry for them 50-100 die hard fans who go to every game as they are getting it awful this season since we got QPR away, Port Vale away and Plymouth away added to an already horrible away mileage.

I think key is to probably try and keep it level until the 75th minute and that will be when Plymouth will open themselves up completely as they will in no way, shape or form want a draw and would rather go for it and lose than have a replay.....that should be when we may capitalize.

Agree that it's a good test and will be interesting to see us up against a L1 side. It's a very winnable tie but I'd of prefered a Semi Pro outfit at home to start a run to hopefully a money maker in R3. Hopefully Oldham continue to be shit until at least the 7th.

Would be nice to see JR make it £15 to get in so we could potentially get 4000 home fans in, Especially if we beat Wycombe this weekend.

Whitehawk can best be described as a holding pen for the Jeremy Kyle show.
Good luck to either of Tranmere or Lincoln who end up going there.

Oh aye, that would have been nice too, for sure. Both have their merits. As said, it's the ties against other L2 sides that bring the least upsides so just glad we avoided that more than owt.

Hmm, Maidstone away. Ripe for a giantkilling, we've lost all our last 5 games against them (although the last was in 1989).

It wouldn't be that much of a giant killing if we're being honest ;)

I'm looking forward to it, and the inevitable whining about the pitch.

I wouldn't worry about that, one thing we are actually good at is blaming ourselves and not anything/anyone else.

Wasn't it Exeter who lost in the first round to Worcester City last season? Wonder if the same will happen at Didcot.

Warrington. Lowest ranked team left in the competition away, again.

So an almost identical cup draw to last time! Just imagine if Exeter got knocked out again..,

That said, we've had a run of average sides several leagues below us at home, and not faired well.

I'm looking forward to the game, will be a good test

Staines at home. Oh, the weak pun opportunities.

Still, will be nice to ease into the second round and then draw Scunthorpe away as schadenfreude for my chuckles at the Gimpers last night.
