I think your sarcasm is lost on most on here. Although I doubt if many have had the pleasure of a trip to Didcot?
The view of the power station from the "stadium" is a site to behold!

Keep up to date. The power station was shot at dawn a few months back. All there is now are the remains of a pile of rubble that used to be cooling towers.

Not all the cooling towers were destroyed, it should still be a site to behold!

Nice Friday night on BBC Two to disgrace ourselves. Trying to get a ticket will be fun.

I just hope Plymouth let us win, then there's a proper tinpot outfit left in Round 2 for us to get, because the FA cup wouldn't be the same without that, we thrash them to set us up with a round 3 visit to Anfield to settle the score.

Their ground only holds 1,400, so we'll have 210. God knows how they're going to try and prioritise that.

Ah, not easy at all then! I imagine it will sell out from a home perspective too.

Hope you lot win to be honest (and its rare I'll back the 'big club'), can't stand Salford.

A midday kick off on the Sunday for our trip to Diddy. Doable by train so I'll probably go.

Pretty much all of the pitch at Didcot Town is visible from the train station!

I'm surprised they haven't televised our game... I mean what else embodies the magic of the FA Cup better than an all League 2 tie in the first round? I mean without the FA cup throwing up these little gems we would have to wait months before we get to play Plymouth again. The atmosphere as a handful of Carlisle fans pack into an all-seater stadium will be electric. A real treat for the neutrals who get to watch as the two teams put literally 45% of their guts and passion, at at least 6 players who played in the last game, or the following game, or 75% of games this season, into the quest for the ultimate prize of avoiding an unwanted replay. I just hope we don't see too many half-and-half scarfs at the game though, hate those things.

Our game at Halifax has been moved to 2PM on sunday because the BBC said so,they'll only show the goals if there are any so what's the point? That's what highlight shows are for. :dk:

Every sympathy with you- the same has happened to us. Furthermore the TV Fee is somewhat reduced on the BBC program than the live matches.
£67,500 to each club for live matches. Only £12,500 to each club for BBC matches.

Also - our paint-pot match v Daggers the following Tuesday has had to me moved to the Wednesday.

More apex tickets lost by those that use them.

Don't worry Mowgli, there'll be plenty of goals to show! Halifax are a poor side this year, and they look to be heading down unless they bring in a couple of new players in January. They also concede a LOT.

Our game too appears to have been moved to the Sunday.

I imagine this also means our game vs Southend in the JPT on the Tues will be moved

FC United are indeed kicking up an almighty stink over their game getting moved, despite, as was already pointed out on this thread, their tinpot policy against moving games meaning nothing in the face of the FA. I've no sympathy for them, I don't like it when games get moved to inconvenient times either, but we've all got to do it, and we all need the TV money too much to make a huge fuss about it. I don't see what makes them so special that they can abide by their own rules. Ironically it's this same inflated sense of self-importance that's the reason why they're on telly in the first place. I'm sure Chesterfield would be delighted if they decided not to televise it after all.

Do they not want TV money or exposure then?
If they don't want it moved, fine. Give the money to another, equally needy club. There are 40 ties in this round to choose from.

Luton have agreed ticket prices for their game with Crawley - a £4 reduction on the league game. £16 seating and £12 terracing. Sensible prices.

Can't you just tell people what time the ticket office will open and have them queue up?

a club should be allowed to refuse a game being shown at their ground.

whether I like FCUM or not, I detest the corporate clap-trap of football

but if forced to do it all FCUM need to do is tell their fans to not show up to the match and play a youth team......they won't then get picked again if game had an empty stadium and a ridiculous game.

but ALL clubs sell out.....the day Wimbledon decided to play MK dons and treat it like a derby game instead of just pulling out of game or treating it like a face was the day any last point of decency in football died a death........from clubs to fans they all will sell the soul for money and TV.

Certainly don't want to be another of those threads. But...

While it wasn't necessarily our finest hour I'm not sure the club itself sold out. They sent the minimum number of club representatives possible and didn't take any of the boardroom / corporate stuff. IIRC the chief exec didn't even watch the game on TV. We also sold out tickets at our own ground to watch it on big screens

We did sell out as far as I'm concerned and there are still plenty of people like me who didn't go and never will. But lots of our fans have never seen us as a crusade to change the way football is run anyway, just as putting right a very specific wrong. In that respect we never were about the general principles as much as FCUM who chose to start again to build something better rather than having it forced on them.

I was one of those who watched it at Kingsmeadow. Like iWomble, I've never been there and never will.

In addition to other comments already made, a resolution was submitted to a Dons Trust meeting that we should refuse to play franchise should we ever be drawn against them. This was (I think) when we were in the Ryman/Isthmian league with little chance of actually making the 1st round of the FAC but it was more forward thinking and planning ahead. We were told (the club had checked with the FA) that the penalties for such an action were without limit. The FA could kick us out of every competition - league and cups - fine us an unlimited amount, etc., etc. The resolution duly failed.

I know what Dave means though about our fans. Those who went to that first franchise game claimed the frannies had prevented us watching 'our' team, as well as the more obvious stuff, and they could do so no longer. Personally, I disagree, out of principle (I don't recognise them as a legitimate club), the revulsion I'd feel and a sense of 'owing' the fans of umpteen clubs who boycotted their own fixtures against the scum out of solidarity. If that makes me sanctimonious, so be it.

As for FCUM, despite us often being bracketed together, we were formed/re-formed for different reasons and with different aims. Fair play to them in this instance. They know they have to abide by FA rules, i.e. you play when they (the TV companies, not the FA) tell you, but they've told anyone who will listen why they disagree. Can they really be expected to risk their future, especially as they're a lone voice?

Last year when travelling around UK, I even made sure that the trains I was going to use, didn't go though scum town. I didn't want to go anywhere near it, I might have caught the pox or something.

To be fair I struggle to get on a train going through plymouth. I'd rather drive to avoid the place. Also at least I can lock the doors of my 4x4 if I do have to venture into that particularly unholy pit of rancid depravity.
