I think it may become very complicated! Even if the worst scenario happens re Covid Politically Boris is so weak at the moment I am not sure if he could get "lockdown" through parliament. No lockdown no furlough scheme. Covid passes should mean some fans being allowed to matches even in reduced numbers .
If football stops it self I don't expect the Government to bail them out anymore.
Trouble is, it's not just a football thing. Many small businesses, especially those in, and connected with, the entertainment/catering industries are going to go tits up with no hope of recovering from yet another knock back. Covid passes mean fuck all in my opinion.... 10,000 and under = safe, 10,000 and over = unsafe. What a load of bollox.

I couldn't give a monkeys about who's vaccinated and who's not... it should be a personal choice and be respected. But we need to get on with life and stop fucking everyone around as soon as a new variant rears its ugly head.

On a personal front, football is the only thing that has kept me sane throughout all this (well, that and my lovely family) and I just want to get back to some sort of normality where Mon-Friday = work (with the odd game thrown in on a Tuesday night) and Saturday 3pm is all about the football...

'But people are dying' I hear... yes, and they die from cancer, from strokes, from heart disease, from getting run over by a bus, etc etc but that hasn't stopped us living a normal life ... up until now.

I don't think Tuesday's game is in doubt at all personally, it's most likely that following yesterdays news about Maidenhead pulling out the trophy, JR and the board thought that would be our most sensible action to take considering we've got a stretched squad as it is. Any further injuries in a pointless Trophy game like this would be a killer blow whilst were in the middle of a run of difficult fixtures.

Our statement provides very little detail, doesn't even imply that the covid issue is even within the playing squad.

I thought that and said similar on bobs board re. Playing squad. Could be a member of the backroom / coaching staff and an isolated incident.

I heard we don't fancy this poxy trophy and just want to be fresh for this title decider on Saturday #evil
*Tuesday. Rumour of furlough on the horizon probably the real cause of the cancellation.

James Rowe threw a wine and cheese covid event last night where himself and the CEO have lined up multiple £500,000 bids for just after Christmas. 13 injured players all going on furlough for the foreseeable to free up the funds.

Names I’m hearing are Wooton and Mullin.

This period is going to be fucked across the board.

Omicrom is raising case numbers big time across the whole population, footballers are no different.

Can't see much happening until the new year.

Makes complete sense, with the title and play offs now over for Grimsby - Hurst focusses on the FA Trophy.
Hahaha, Hurst needs no encouragement to focus on the trophy. He loves it. Lost in two finals and one semi (back when it was double legs too) in his first stint here.

EFL have just announced ( and I think National League should follow) that if a club has 14 fit players including a goalkeeper they will be expected to play. Staggering that they have released figures that 25% of players have had no jabs! No wonder Covid is spreading so quickly

And so it begins, Chesterfield have bailed as well.
How convenient. Maybe we should consider clearing our fixture list of this Mickey Mouse cup. This used to be called the FA amateur Cup, participation should be optional for the REAL football clubs. :bdick:

Was interesting to hear Eddie Howe saying yesterday that whether or not a player is jabbed may well be a factor when he starts signing players in Jan.

Some record that. In all honesty I fully expect our game against Notts to go ahead on Tuesday and for some backlash from rival fans about us forfeiting the FA trophy.

And we were all devastated by that second final loss to Halifax apparently, B2TF said so.

I think the backlash would be fair if that's the case. Play Saturday, declare you've got COVID in the ranks the next Thursday so you can't play Saturday but then play on the Tuesday? Hard for the club to be able to justify that. I did initially write "hard for the club to justify that being anything other than a fiddling of the rules" but fuck knows what the rules are.

Yeah I’ve no idea what the rules are either.

Apparently 25% of current EFL players don't intend to get vaccinated, and only 59% are double jabbed.

We’re two semi-final defeats from two, our reserves love this competition but we promptly lost twice having decided we’d got far enough to put the proper team in.

Probably.

Although it's not confirmed that the covid is at our end, we have forfeited the tie which suggests it is.

I'm hearing talk that Mark Drakeford will be detailing tougher restrictions in Wales from tomorrow including sporting events with more than 500 people must be played behind closed doors. Rule of 6 and all that as well.

Funny how 12,000 of you made a 400 mile round trip to watch a game you didn't give a shit about. :dk::fl:
We made the 400 mile trip for the playoff final the week before and were just still out on the lash in London after winning that.

Getting to the semis of it and losing is the worst. All those extra matches and none of the Wembley money. Was genuinely more annoyed about losing to Cambridge in the semis than I was to Halifax or Wrexham in the finals.

Silly bastards. Putting their own health, those of their teammates, and the future of their clubs at risk.

As for Tuesday, wouldn’t mind it getting called off, it’s a rubbish week to play such a big game.

Was happy we lost both in the end, first final got played behind closed doors and the second with an allocation of 1,000 each I think.

We did miss out on what was set to be a very fun week of hostilities against Harrogate, though. When Covid first hit we were 2nd and 3rd in the league and about to play each other in the Trophy semi-finals on consecutive Saturdays with a league match against each other sandwiched in the middle.
