That's the problem is the testing. We are not testing anyone. We are operating a if you don't feel well you don't come in policy. We haven't been affected by Covid this time to date. Possibly because we are not looking for problems with testing

I've resigned to the fact its stopping for 2 or 3 weeks very shortly. I just hope it does stop and we don't have to go back to the ludicracy of behind closed doors at non league level. Outside the brotherhood noone can afford it.

So you could be playing with positive asymptomatic players week in week out, putting other clubs players in potential harm?

Came from 1-0 down to beat Kingstonian with two comical goals. First one we literally blocked a clearance and it bounced into an empty net, second one their defender inadvertently lobbed their own keeper while trying to clear it away from Whittingham.

We were off it today, but got the win. Two months ago we would have (and actually did) lost that game

Best thing about the day was the final whistle. Apparently a really good game but one I just couldn't enjoy.

Curzon Ashton 1-3 Alfreton Town

Well we were very abject for 80 minutes. Curzon missed some golden chances to put the game to bed, before we scrambled an equalizer and never looked back from there as goals from the excellent Ceesay, and Hobson sealed the win in a remarkable turnaround.
Through to the Fourth Round for the first time since 2004/05

We are due a home draw to say the least.
However if it is away please not Boreham Wood. Id like Southend away.

Attendance.... 1 1 3

Good job that was only the tinpot trophy nobody cares about, because its becoming increasingly harder to defend Hurst, but the players also have to shoulder the blame and start to figure what has gone wrong since October.
9 Defeats from 10, Reported decent budget in the summer, and there are still Grimsby Fans defending him.

He's the worst manager we have ever had, which probably explains the above.

NL regulations are that clubs test their players 48 hours before a match. And as the tests are free cannot see why clubs wouldn't do this

Wild has claimed we don't test our players as there is no requirement to

Do you stop forever? It’s not going away if we stop for two weeks. You’re just delaying them getting it and causing a fixture backlog.

Potential harm for a young, fit, and if they have any sense, vaccinated professional footballer is incredibly low risk.

Vaccine obviously makes a difference on this, but it’s not that low risk. We lost Roberts for basically a year and he’s not quite back to the same level even now all because of injury problems we think are down to Covid.

Abomination of a referee at The Hive today. Bought absolutely all of Wood's dirty tricks. A red card given out for an off the ball incident he didn't see and then a ludicrous sending off at 12:00 on the below video for a perfectly timed tackle.

The FA have strongly recommended that clubs test but it is not a regulation. So technically Wild is correct but why wouldn't clubs follow the recommendations when the tests are free?
National League is regarded as elite sport and should therefore act like it

Couldn't give a shit about the FA Trophy. Don't care that we won today, I'd have swapped it for a win last week all day long.

Re: Covid. Just can't see how Grimsby who are riddled with it won't have just passed it on to us today. I don't see us watching much football over Christmas to be honest.

The problem is the testing. It clearly shows up as mild symptoms in a massive percentage of young fit, vaccinated people.

If you tested for the seasonal Flu or who had the common cold, you'd never get a match on over the winter period.

Probably, Hurst said after the game, more were positive yesterday and even more testing positive this morning, he didn't know his team until leaving the hotel and he wouldn't be surprised if some who played today test positive tomorrow.

Said they are testing daily and the info/rules coming from the authorities is too vague, and he has to continue as normal with players that test negative.

Says Maidenhead were forced to play against Solihull, and the he didn't bring the youth player of our bench today because if he did that would then make the national league say he is another player who can play for us in the league when "he's not really available." No competitive integrity forcing teams to play with so many players out, and also cost a youth player a chance to play first team football because of the vague guidelines and rules from the national league.

Completely got away with it against Dorking, they were the better side other than not taking their chances.

The positive out of the game is 18 year old keeper Ndi appears to be more than decent. Made a finger tip wonderful save just after we went 1 down, saves a penalty, commanded his area really well and was generally outstanding.
And the winning goal, just a superb effort, top corner, best goal at Roots Hall for bloody years.

A word for the refereeing team, dreadful. Oddly though thought the ref got the big two decisions right, two penalties (both missed, Murphy's capped his day, awful from first whistle to getting hauled off.!) Otherwise, just a bizarre display of random decisions from ref and linesman. At one point the ref just blew his whistle, stopped the game, nothing had happened, all the players looked confused. A crowning glory was the 4th official who put up 20 minutes on the board for added on time at the end of the first half.
Easily the worst set of officials I've seen at this level and I'm pretty forgiving having seen what's served up at steps 5 and 6.

On this Covid chatter, listening to BBC Essex on the drive home they had the Billericay manager on. Over the last two weeks they've had 13 players test positive. They still had 7 out today, he said the National League told them they had to play. He questioned the decision, in his words 'Premier League teams with squads of 75 are getting games called off with a few cases, we get more than a third of our squad out and we're made to play'

Interestingly we played Grimsby away last week and now have 10 players out with covid. Suppose we could’ve given it to their squad or vice versa or not at all. Seems a coincidence that both sides are riddled this week though.

Wouldn't mind Alfreton away. Some great looking away ties to be had, Boston, Larkhall, Cheshunt, York, Needham Market, Slough, Morpeth, Stourbridge.

I'm sure we'll get something like Boreham Wood at home though.

Beleaguered Wealdstone.

Totally shambolic first half of football with no pattern of play, players out of position and then slipping at every opportunity. The Youth GK we had in goal today was just not up to scratch, Needham Market’s first is saved by any competent keeper.

Better second half and we really should have equalised but all the credit to Needham Market today, they wanted it more than us. Hope they get a good draw on Monday.

Little bit of pressure on Stuart Maynard now, fans were not happy at the FT whistle.
Even at my age , I would have saved their first. Not entirely the management’s fault the lad was in goal, as Bournemouth recalled our cover loanee for Wickens who was sent off v Bromley, to protect their Covid bubble, but to even have him as second choice, when he was Barnet U18s reserve keeper, is a joke.

We were pathetic . Dross. Players lucky that the coating they got wasn’t even that venomous. A couple of years ago, there might have been people over the fence .

You've got far more faith in our ability to win cup matches than me! We'd better get a Northern team before we're condemned to the confines of the National South.

It's near Bath, Larkhall and if I could do the draw myself would probably be the tie I'd pull out for Southend, that or York away.

Larkhall (Scots: Larkhauch,[2] Scottish Gaelic: Taigh na h-Uiseig)[3] is a town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, around 14 miles (23 km) southeast of Glasgow
Nice local trip there
