Awful, one of the worst strikers I've seen play for United. Yesterday when he received the ball in the box and tried to lay it off rather than turn and shoot summed his United career up.

His all-around game was never excellent. His scoring rates in the past certainly were, but as he declines physically, that lost millisecond of reaction time hampers his effectiveness as a fox in the box. Not to mention his Porto scoring rates were achieved in a significantly weaker competition. His time at Atletico is certainly admirable, but I maintain peak RvP > peak Falcao.

I'd love to see United's true cost of bringing him over for the season. Hopefully United don't come sniffing around Arsenal for their needed improvement at CF—Giroud's physicality is perfect for winning hoof-balls up the pitch.

The ACL injury seems to have finished him. LvG has given him many opportunities, but he's failed to really impress in any of them. His touch and composure has been awful for someone who is supposedly one of the best in world footbal. He seems finished as a world class striker, thankfully we only have him on a loan deal.

United need to spend another 60 million to get a good striker. RvP Falcao is done. Rooney isn't getting any younger, and you can't depend only on him.

Welé can't even get a first team football at Arsenal now most of the injured players are back.

I expect him in the starting XI for big away matches—and he's started 2/3 matches since returning from injury, even with Giroud being in excellent form. His end product is erratic, but he works diligently and his athleticism is top class. He did brilliantly to create Özil's goal at Tottenham, though it isn't reflected in the stat sheet. Our attacking depth is superior to United's, anyways, so not fitting in our XI isn't the best gauge for whatever point you were trying to make. Welbeck would be a Rodgers favourite, I imagine. High-press up the pitch and he tracks back. Play him in a trio with Sturridge and Sterling.

United could do with his effort and mobility given the static play of Rooney and Falcao. He has Yaya Sanogo's chaos factor with superior link-up play and dribbling. They'd be better off financially and have another homegrown player for the quota, too. Welbeck has still scored more than Falcao or Balotelli. Some are down on his scoring rate, but he's an important part of our squad going forward.

I agree with all of that. Welbeck is excellent at holding the ball up and starting an attack, something we've missed this season.

Incredible how a player as good as he was can suddenly play as poorly as he has been doing.

He thrived on crosses. While he was never particularly quick, his movement inside the box was precise and his timing was perfect. His finishing technique was immense and he could score from a variety of angles. He offered little in the build-up play and didn't run at defenders much; a static, but lethal forward. For my money he was never the best #9 in the world, as some will claim, but he was an incredible goal scorer. Losing agility and timing from his prolonged absence probably contributed significantly to his loss of form.

There are certainly other variables involved, but I think replacing Falcao with Costa contributed to Atletico's improvement as a team.

I agree with your last paragraph, Atletico could be quietened a bit if falcao was having an off game. When Costa came in as the main man, they became much more of a team going forward and harder to stop. Falcao was very effective in what he did there and at Porto, and there was a genuine case for a few seasons of him being the best out and out #9, but there is so many different types of those now as well so its impossible to say whether he was. Still a great though for a few years.

If United would of kept him on - they wouldn't of scored.

Can't see why they'd want to sign him in the summer..

The question is, who will? I can't see United signing him and Monaco will struggle to keep him under FFP. So where will he go? My money's on Qatar/UAE

I'm not sure if it's a confidence thing, but since the media started picking on his lack of goals he's definitely gone backwards...he's actually getting worse with every game.

If he doesn't massively improve by the end of the season, I don't think he will be at United next season.

His agent mouthing off at every chance won't help his case either

Well I personally like to stand up for the "little guy" against these big corporations who think they can just pick and choose and drop folk when the going gets tough. Why can't United put an arm around him, sort out some in house training to support Falcao both mentally and physically to rekindle his previous form?

With any luck this is one of those loans that has a contractual obligation to complete a full transfer at the end of the season. It's about time the individual had some protection against big business.

If you're going to compare Welbeck to a player from a different position then you might as well slate a goalkeeper for having a worse scoring record than Welbeck this season.

Very unfair to single out Rooney given he is now deemed a midfielder (albeit a shit one)

Must be the injury, he was quality for Atletico Madrid. Don't get some of the arguments saying he hasn't suited to English football. I remember the Super Cup where he scored a first half hat trick against Chelsea in a 4-1 win, destroyed them.

Aged 29 now so probably just past his peak too.
