So as we know it's pretty close at the top with Middlesbrough and Brighton facing each other on the final day.

Burnley go to Charlton on the final day, where given their recent protests it's possible they could stage something similar to what Blackpool fans did last season. The Football League must be shitting themselves at the prospect of a game so huge having to be abandoned.

Even if they don't go as far as forcing an abandonment, I fully expect protests that will yet again cause delays, and therefore leave Boro or Brighton waiting.

And Burnley won't get a trophy presentation if they win the title either.

They'll just make it 1 for 1 between fans and police/stewards.

Can't see much happening tbh, maybe the odd beach ball on the pitch. Are Charlton actually doing anything for it?

There's also the possibility of there being implications for the play-offs if the game were to be abandoned.

If the game had to be replayed, we could be left in a situation where we don't know who finishes second and third.

Surely Charlton fans wouldn't do that. I think they would understand how much that games means to Burnley and the league. Its also a really really quick way to turn people who support their plight against them.

I think to most of our fans, Charlton is far more important than whether Burnley get promoted or not.

We disrupted games against both 'Boro and Brighton so it's only fair we do the same against Burnley.

Seriously though, I don't think the game will be abandoned but I would expect lengthy delays.

Blackpool's protest last year was excellent, and it really made a point. I just don't think Charlton fans have the same bottle/desire.

At the moment, Charlton fans are more about gimmicks than making an actual stand, therefore I don't see any issues with this game.

What an incredibly ignorant post.

We have a few Wolves fans like you. From reading a various amount of your posts, it seems like you are happy to let your owner destroy your club without putting up a fight against it. It really is quite sad.

What point did it make and/or achieve?

Cheers.

Blackpool have done one protest and then given up (although I understand there was quite a few of them today). Charltons have been sustained every week. What a ridiculous comment.

It's not being destroyed, but merely being restructured

Preserving a fellow club is far more important than anything that happens on the pitch.

Ok, tell me how Charlton is not being destroyed.

Do you think every team who has been relegated has been "destroyed"? The only things people are moaning about is the face we didn't buy good players and went down, and the turnover in managers since he;s been here. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Nothing wrong with not buying good players? Interesting.

I found this on the web:

Usually, English football sides are run by managers, who have a wide-ranging role in team affairs. But Duchâtelet wanted Charlton to be run by a head coach, who would have little say in what players came into the club. So he started interfering with the team behind Powell’s back.

Duchâtelet’s first moves included selling popular striker Yann Kermogant to Bournemouth. He was replaced with the hopelessly inexperienced Piotr Parzyszek; a player so out of his depth, he made just one substitute appearance, three minutes before the end of a match, before being bundled off to Sint-Truiden on loan.

Goalkeeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien was also imposed on Powell, ahead of the effective and experienced Ben Hamer, who later escaped to Leicester.

According to Katriern Meire, this is your clubs aim:
“My proposition would be a real unique football fan experience — and see hopefully the next stars of the Premier League, which we will have play for Charlton in the first team and then sell onto the Premier League.”

So basically, develop young players for the Premier League and sell them off. Don't you think that's extremely negative?

Found of the same article as earlier:

An interview with Belgian magazine L’Echo saw her (Katrien Meire) declare she did not care for the club’s past, mocking complaints from supporters of 60 years “who know everything better than anyone”. Can't you see that she hates you, the fans?

Here's another comment from Meire which shows she knows nothing about football.

“So whenever I get friendly emails from fans they say ‘get out of our club’, so it’s not the shareholders’ club. They say they pay… but they go to the restaurant with their family every week or they go to the cinema, and they’re not satisfied with the product, do they go and scream to the people in charge of it? No they don’t! But they do with a football club, and that’s very weird.”

To add to all of that, she refused to meet with Pete Varney, cancelling meetings at the last minute and ignoring his emails, called the protesting fans "2%" of the fanbase, repeatedly seems to tell off or insult the fans, season tickets going missing, the fans sofa, a couple having sex on the pitch which was leaked for a PR for pitch hire, Roland barely talking to fans, lots of poor signing and obviously relegation, all of that is certaintly not just "not buying good players and good down", there is much more shit going on at the club then that.

Credit to this article for supplying me lots of info: https://medium.com/@darryl1974/how-roland-duchâtelet-and-katrien-meire-are-killing-charlton-athletic-dc8a9ed7e91c#.q6m240hpm

I'm interested to see his reply tbh

He doesn't have one.

I've given him numerous reasons why we are protesting and his reply was 'well like it or lump it'

He's either a complete moron or a really bad troll, probably both.

He's like loads of the horrible Leeds fans who support Cellino. They're not that bothered about the club...just happy to turn up, watch a shite game of football on a Saturday in their brand new replica shirt and go home after the match satisfied regardless.

The only argument the pro-Cellino gang have is "oh but there's nobody else!!!" which is just pathetic. Sadly nowhere near enough of the actual fans who go to the games are vocally against the man. Beggars belief when you consider he's a convicted fraudster, awaiting another football league ban, has just lost 2 unfair dismissal court cases, gone through loads of managers, appointed shit ones, treated them with unwarranted disdain, brought in a load of shite foreign players, interferes with managers/players, and has his two sons on the board - one who has just been banned for calling a fan a "spastic" and the other just been investigated for posing on an Instagram photo hashtagging "ss" and "nazis".

But there's no-one else.

And fans in the ground boo anyone calling for him to go. It's sad, but too many people accept mediocrity so long as they can watch some horrible players kick a ball around on a Saturday, wearing their shirt and drinking expensive bottles of pop.

When Charlton allowed us to have a trophy presentation on their pitch last season, it was a memory I will treasure forever and we were very grateful to Charlton for the way they received us.

However I can understand how the prospect of seeing that for a second consecutive season, after a successive season of struggle and in this case actual relegation, must be pretty bloody unpleasant. And I think any fan base would be protesting given what Charlton are going through, and the contempt with which the ownership seems to hold the fan-base. Must of us have been there or at least somewhere near with an owner at some point in our history.

The question I'd ask is, are Charlton's owners like Aston Villa's in their non attendance? Never anywhere near a match and thus have no idea that the supporters are baying for blood with protest marches and banners every week? Or will there be somebody from the Duchatelet clan around to actually see the protests and give it a chance of changing something?

I think chief exec Katrien Meire is normally there, I doubt Duchatelet himself goes.

She was at their last game next to security guards just sitting there smirking and shaking her head..

Its telling Charlton haven't got into trouble from the FA/FL for these demos - maybe they understand their plight!
