Transfer window got a bit better, Austin (Free), Trippier (£3.4m), Haller (£4.5m), Will Hughes (£8m), Stambouli (£5m) and Kasim (Free). Pretty good but will need a couple of loanees I think.

That's a pretty decent effort. Austin turned me down for Everton, and Derby also got promoted alongside ourselves so Will Hughes had no intention on joining us.

I've just picked Stambouli up in January for around that amount. Currently 11th in the league but there aren't many points between us and the relegation zone.

That's quite a big budget for Brentford! Looking forward to a decent one with Reading. Helps this year that it's the first FM i've played where Reading haven't had a ridiculous amount of debt.

How has Gayle done for you? I also bought him for £3.2m and he has been really bad for me so far. Just can't seem to fit him in my team. Wish i'd spent less on someone else, almost all my budget on a third choice striker wasn't smart.

Bet the San Marino challenge cannot be done anymore due to the fuckers getting relegated?

I managed to finish ninth in my first season in the Prem - as a reward the board have given me 57 million to spend and increased my wage budget by 50% :bl::2thumb:

Terrible in the Championship Gayle, quite good in the Prem!

I stretched my budget quite a bit by selling players and spreading cost over 48 months.

Currently 15th with 15 games to go. Had an insane number of injuries so quite chuffed with that. Almost all of my points have been draws, drawn over 60% of my games so far. Only 4 points above the relegation zone.

Still finding the game very odd. Just got dominated by West Ham (lost 4-1) and they were down to 10 men for the entire game (red card 3rd minute). Very very odd.

Bought it today. Not had it since 14, what affect does the attributes that you set at the beginning have? What do you guys normally go with?

International footballer gives you the highest mental attributes, and a Continental Pro License gives you the highest coaching attributes. I usually start with both of them, otherwise you're at a huge disadvantage and end up going on courses (in game, obviously) to do them anyway.

Depends where I am managing I guess. If I'm trying to do a rags to riches at story then it'll be best to start off with the worst stats if I want it to be realistic. Thanks. Started as York. No idea why I chose them but we'll see how it goes.

I started with the worst possible stats, am doing the first coaching qualification at the moment. Going to try to time the second one better because it says your influence is lees when you are doing the course.

Nearly halfway through my second season at Barrow, had no consistency at all for a long time, after 13 games I had won 7 and lost 6, but something seemed to click and now am unbeaten in the last 8 league games, which include my only 2 draws. I'm out of the FA Cup after losing away at Leyton Orient in the first round. My striker Ashley Grimes has been incredible for me so far, making 18 league appearances, 2 from the bench and scoring 17 goals, with over half a season left, he could well hit 40 just in the league.

Edit- Naturally I lost the next game, although it was a close 1-0 against Wrexham who are top of the league

Finished my first prem season with 7 wins out of 9 (admittedly all against the bottom 7) but before then I only had 5 wins in 29 games.

Anyway, it propelled me up to 12th in the league, got given a £66m transfer budget. Team should be awesome for next year. Already brought in Vrsaljko (£6m), Veltman (£7m), Martins Indi (£8m), Bender (Free), and Zaza (£12m). Should be quite the team!

Pfff, your Barnet successes are now invalid!

I bought myself a Chromebook specifically so I couldn't play it. Gonna come in here to fail vicariously through you, though.

That's like an alcoholic consciously giving up booze, then spending his Saturday nights drinking tonic water in the pub.

You're a stronger man than I. I was going to kick the habit. Ended up buying it on the day the beta was released. Shameful.

*fondly remembers my Burnley side winning 5-1 at the Emirates to all-but relegate Arsenal, leading to Peter Whittingham's sacking and my installment in the hot-seat, beginning a glorious spell which would lead to the Champions League and Premier League title*

nah not tempted

Taking Stockport to the Champions League title a couple of years after 5 successive promotions. That was very sweet. 4 Titles and 1 Play Off win.

The club's Icons were myself, Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro, Ashley Grimes, Neal Eardley, Phil Jones and Julian Draxler. Quality group.

So my second season at Barrow has just finished, my targets were top half finish, FA Cup 1st round and FA Trophy 4th round. I somehow got a playoff place, finishing 3rd, got to the FA Cup 1st round and FA Trophy semi finals.
Grimes got dropped when I got Billy Sharp on loan in January with no loan fees or wage contribution, and then had an injury only a few games after winning his place back. Despite this Grimes still finished the season scoring more than 25 goals. Sharp scored 22 goals in 21 games and my other 2 strikers both managed 15 goals apiece.
Whether promoted or not, I will be going for a season long loan of Sharp, my main concern after that being defence which at this moment is mainly young players I brought in for their potential.

2 red cards in my final game, and 4 injuries mean the playoffs will be a tougher ask than normal, but just reaching them was an over achievement

Lost in the playoff final, Wrexham won 2-1, my goalkeeper scoring an own goal. However Wrexham had been top of the league for 37 weeks before we beat them in the penultimate game of the season so it's fair to say they deserved promotion more. Going to start my second coaching course and I think the aim will be promotion next time

Edit: new season expectations are to reach playoffs, 2nd round of the FA Cup and to win the FA Trophy, my transfer budget for this is £0

Is it true that they've updated the Beta to what the game will be on release, after a patch tonight?

They've updated to what they're calling release client one, although they've stressed that it is still a beta version. Apparently the match engine has changed a fair bit since the original beta release.

In other news, come to start the new season and my first four fixtures are Man City (H), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (A) and Liverpool (A).

Managed four points which I'm pretty pleased with.

About to knock it on the head with Tranmere - it's ridiculously easy with my coaching badge and past playing level.

If someone could please recommend a challenge in either the Conference or Conference North/South that'd be greatly appreciated - and will set my badges and playing experience to suit the club!

Start unemployed, worst badges/experience and take what comes up. A proper challenge. That's how I've gone in my career in the careers thread, unemployed>Grimsby>Crewe. Obviously you can start off with a club and stay with them.

Agree with Jase, and it's what I'm doing (second coaching course should finish soon) although it hasn't been too hard for me at Barrow tbh. Have bristol city as an affiliate and been able to get a league 1/championship standard player on loan 2 years running. No doubt at all that if I had Billy Sharp (city bought him and gave him 5 games) for the whole of the last season I'd have won the league with a target of top half.
I've also signed Derick Williams permanently for free after his contract ran out, although I had to talk him into it. Only 4 games in to this season and my target is playoffs, but with the signings I've made from city and triallists I picked up I'll say that if I don't get barrow promoted this season then I will deserve to be sacked

Bielsa's bucket
started with Leeds with no badges experience etc, currently 5th

top half expected

working on badges but I suspect eventually I will get sacked if Massimo is true to form and it will see me around the conference etc, which is usually where I start or unemployed with no badges
