My 'based on a bad hunch, not proper psephology' prediction: the Tories will fall short by 8.

I think the Tories will get a majority of about 30. Again it’s a hunch rather than anything else.

I think Grimsby is going Tory this time purely because of Brexit but then the next election after this it will go back to Labour long term.

Tory minority but this time they won’t be propped up by the dinosaur denying DUP!

The youth have been out voting in force form what I’ve seen on social media so hopefully that will swing a few close seats in favour of labour.

Yeah social media has been full of young labour voters, the problem is that social media doesn’t represent the entire demographic.

Polls predicting a Tory majority. What a disaster that’s going to be.

Yeah either that or the country has just been saved from something catastrophic.

Enjoy election night.

Always going to be that the strong Brexit stance by the Tories would win them new friends in strong leave areas.

Can they maintain their support for the long term though once Brexit is "done"?

No way, I know a couple of Labour voters who are voting Tory this time purely to try and get Brexit through and they said once Brexit is done they will never vote for them again and will go back to Labour.

It’s Labour’s Brexit stance which has fucked them. They couldn’t stay neutral on this and hope to get people to follow them.

If they’d gone definitely leave or remain I’m certain they’d have stopped a Tory majority.

My seat of stoke central (usually a labour guaranteed seat) is apparently going to be lost to the fucking Tories.

This isn't aimed at you in particular, but this reliance on social media as a barometer of public feeling has got to end. With Twitter, as an example, around 80% of tweets are made by about 2% of the population. These platforms are not remotely representitive of what everyday people think, especially the generations who vote the most. I feel like politicians and public figures are using Twitter and Facebook as a shortcut to gauge public sentiment, so most of what they see and hear comes from either people within their own bubble or activists who represent next to nobody.

It’s Labour’s Brexit stance which has fucked them. They couldn’t stay neutral on this and hope to get people to follow them.

If they’d gone definitely leave or remain I’m certain they’d have stopped a Tory majority.

I suspect that only coming out strongly in favour of respecting the referendum result could have saved them. I doubt that conservative Remainers are so wedded to the idea of staying in the EU that they would ever vote for Corbyn over Boris, whereas they could have definitely held on to Labour Leavers I think.

Well as expected a bad night for Labour, interesting that Corbyn and Momentum still insist they won in 2017 and that shows this was a Brexit election not a Corbyn, radical manifesto loss.

Sooner they go the sooner Labour might start being a decent opposition again and maybe even get in power.

Interesting stat from Campbell, if Johnson remains in for full term then Tony Blair will be the only labour MP to win a majority in 50 years!

What's worse for Labour is that in quite a few of the seats they retained, they only managed it because the Brexit Party took a decent chunk out of the Tory vote.

Been away for a couple of days and just got back to hear the news.

Ah well, that’s democracy at the end of the day.

I look forward to watching the next 5 years, this Tory government will actually make my industry richer and myself better off - so thank you to all the working class fools who voted to shoot themselves in the face at my expense.

I’ll have no sympathy for any Tory voters in future because quite simply by voting Tory this time around, you have asked for this shit show that will take our country.

Today is the day we will tell our children about the beginning of the break up of the United Kingdom, good job guys.

Bless, you keep talking about "the future".

We've been under Tory rule for 9 years, now progressing to 14 and dare I say it odds on for 19.

As for Labour, only ONE PM has gained a majority for them in 50 years, Tony Blair. Sort your own house out before commenting on ours.

Not much to say really, gutted with how it’s turned out but proud of Hartlepool voting Labour in again and rejecting the god awful Richard Tice and his Brexit Party racist twats.

Mate, the country has voted and it’ll duly get what it deserves. I’m staying out for the time being.

Still waiting for your apology from before.

But yeah I talk about the future, in case you weren’t aware - this Tory government will be in power for 5 years, so that’s the future. It’s a tough one to grasp, I know

Keep waiting. 5 Years, or so.
No problem for me, like I said - the next 5 years for me will be quite fruitful, so I'm happy to wait.

I guess the funny thing is that while I tried to vote for the better of all people in our country, you didn't, but thank you for your vote.

Seems like the biggest vote share since pre late80's-thatcher missed that, too.

Woke up to the news my entire city has gone blue.

Utterly depressing that a working class city has voted for the Tories. Unbelievable.
