Hmm, certainly done well at Grimsby and I want to say he did a solid job at Shrewsbury too but stand to be corrected. Can’t imagine we’d pay compo this time and clearly if it’s us or Blackpool who will be fresh out of the Championship it’d be them.

You will probably end up with Sean flynn. As you like Walsall managers..
Infact - Clarke might go back to Walsall !
How strange would that all be.

Last I checked Pomlett was still involved in some capacity at Walsall so I'd be surprised if DC would go back while he is there. Don't think it was the best of relationships between them two at the end of his time there (which is why he wanted to leave for us) and DC is not as popular with Walsall fans to say the least as he is with Vale and Rovers. Stranger things have happened though.

As for Flynn I rate him as a manager and my suspicion is it's not all his fault what's gone wrong there but he'll probably end up back at Newport at some point.

It was going well for flynn - 4th round of the fa cup, top 6, then they nosedived when Danny Johnson went back to Mansfield and after that they couldn’t score and he had no idea how to fix it.
Still seems to have a good reputation though so you could do worse.

Not much difference to when DC left Walsall, decent first half lost Jules and Adebayo and nose dive began.

We paid 6 figures for DC and it’s a crucial appointment so don’t see why we wouldn’t pay it personally to get the right man.

Hasn’t Carol been a huge help to their new owners who are similar to Carol in nature so they have a decent relationship.

Not sure. They are owned by Americans now.

We did but on top of paying compo for Hurst we will also have a not inconsiderable compo sum to DC we need to make as I think everyone can now agree there's nothing mutual about this and it is a straight up sacking.

The other thing I believe Hurst is a good mate of DC's (that's how they ended up signing Adam Crookes and Danny Amos on his recommendation) so if he has left on bad terms with the senior people at the club all it would take is for him to give Hurst the heads up on that and think he'd stay put.

Carol has just done an interview on Radio so had a listen.

DC was sacked that’s confirmed on Sunday rather than any mutual decision.

Reason was mainly the performances since the Burton game, whilst before the results were poor we were playing well but the decline in performances was the main factor culminating in the loss of discipline especially against Lincoln which was the final straw.

Felt that despite all efforts with no improvement or turnaround visible they had to take the hardest decision they’ve made to try and change that.

Suppose from a football point of view you can’t argue with that, 2 wins in 18 then the performances nose diving as well very few managers would survive it as much as it does hurt like hell.

Loads of applicants, haven’t ruled out spending money to get the right man, Crosby has a shout if he keeps us up but no interviews or decision until after the season.

Agreed that herself and the board and Flickers share responsibility.

Spoke to many people within football and Rudge as well as DC over the last few weeks to see how to stop the rot but in the end felt they had no other option.

Does seem a lot of parallels with the Askey ending, shocker at Mansfield week after a horrific show against Barrow and throwing a comfortable position against Walsall and players downing tools.

Its still aerial bombardment which with our fans moaning about DC it wouldn't go down well.

Personally I don't care if we are winning, Micky Adams wasn't exactly a footballing purist but he produced a side that scored more goals than anyone in the top 4 leagues in 2012/13 and had us battering promotion rivals 6-2 and 7-1 so i am not personally against it.

Might be a good fit with our current structure.
They never played aerial-bombardment with us. There's a sense on here that their one tactic is to have a beanpole striker that they launch it long to. The Cowleys are studious types and they've definitely tried to adapt their style.

Don't get me wrong, it's still not exactly tiki-taka and it's not always fun to watch. With us they tried to play a high press and always look to get the ball out to the wings and attack from there. They really liked the long diagional ball out to a wide man to try to open up space. What they don't do is attempt to create much through the middle, which can be very frustrating. Our opponents cottoned onto this in the Autumn and we stopped creating chances.

Pom Pom is still here for a year or so more advising the yanks if thats what he calls it the blokes a walking disaster needs to sling his hook. Also we have apparently been turned down by Cowley if you believe the rumour online Phillips is the favourite now.

It doesn’t really mean much of anything. All it would suggest is someone most likely has stuck a fiver down and moved the market a fair bit for one of them.

Philips might be a canny move. If he is backed. Will you get Danny Johnson in the summer ?

How do your fans view that one mate?

I think a lot are expecting it. Problem is when you promote the assistant it does give off the look of being the cheap option. He’s a good guy Croz and covered DC’s absence well last year but caretaker and actual manager are not the same thing. Needs to be sorted before the retained list comes out as I will not be hearing excuses like last summer about the playoffs getting in the way of our recruitment etc.

Personally I’d be chuffed, he has earned the right to have a go at it, some fans will look back at Glover, Foyle etc getting it but this isn’t the same as Crosby has a lot more experience and worked with Adkins.

Plus he currently has managed us for nearly 20 games now over the past 14 months and has over a 50% win rate so over a period of time your deserving a go.

Some fans want the big name or the journeyman manager but look at the likes of McKenna, Schumacher etc. why not give Crosser a go. I don’t see any reason not to.

Denise van Outen was at our game yesterday...filming a documentary for Channel Four about chips apparently...maybe she could do a job if Big Dunc gets the push, would certainly meet Dale's leftfield approach to appointing members of staff!

I thought they were the league 2 Man City? Their fans and players were an embarrassment to their club last year. Arrogant and deluded, I'm glad they're having a struggle again.
Could end up with DC going there, couple of their fans saying they want him on twitter which is odd as they were not so keen on him last May!

I'd be surprised if he took a job anywhere for a little while to be honest. If I was him after what he had been through take a long break with what will probably be a pretty handy compo payout from us. I still think this was idiotic scapegoating by Vale to sack him but you'd say with DC mentally he seemed quite drained at the end so use this time to reset and go again as he says.

In terms of Swindon that'd be a fair old transition from what they've gone for before with the likes of Garner etc. DC certainly no hoofball merchant but he's not the sort of tiki-taka preacher they've had before. Is that lad he had the ahem altercation with in the playoff semi still there though? That could be interesting.

He seems keen to get back into it judging by his classy statement but who knows?

Not sure how Swindon play now, see some beef in socials with their fans and Crewe with the “massive” stuff and things we had last season on there but they’ve had a stinker this season, expected them to push on after a solid against the odds season last year with the cobbled together squad under Garner which worked out well.

On paper it would be a decent location for DC and a good project but possibly burnt bridges like us going hiring Artell for example which on paper would be good with the kids we’ve coming through etc but would never be accepted.

Imagine DC will be watching developments at Field Mill with interest though.

Done a great job for you regardless how he comes across. Not sure how much these contracts are worth in all honesty given we were less than a year removed from giving DC 5 years and sacked him at the first sign of trouble.

Our Sentinel reporter saying he gets the feeling from todays press conference our next manager will be Crosby. Underwhelming if so as well as being just downright lazy and it’s not giving me a lot of confidence we will do what we need to do to improve this summer. Hope I’m wrong.
