Don't think that will have any bearing to be honest, they knew they were basically down when they approached him. They want him for this league, not League Two.

Interesting turn of events as it appears that Mills is now off to Wrexham. Not sure how take this really, is it an indication that our financial situation isn't as good as we initially predicted or did he just use it as a tactic to negotiate a better contract with Wrexham? Back to the drawing board for us it seems.

Genuinely think he's gone for the job with less pressure. Yes Wrexham will expect significant improvement from this season but Wrexham would be very happy with Top 5 and they wouldn't call for the managers head if they just missed out on 5th. Yes he's got to do a rebuilding job but there's a lot of potential at Wrexham next season if they retain their best players and sign up a few up and coming lads.

I think Tranmere fans would be bitterly disappointed if they didn't even make the playoffs next season, but Mills would have to build an entirely new squad on a smaller budget than Tranmere's in League Two. He also might find it hard to offload some of the misfits that are contracted to the club next season.

Less pressure at Wrexham IMO.

Wrexham won't be as bad next season as this, so it's almost a win-win for him. Tranmere will be expected to be up there and halting a slide after two consecutive relegations isn't ideal.

I'd be surprised if Tranmere didn't offer him more money, but you can see why he would go for us.

Wrexham fans do have high expectations, but the pressure would have been more at Tranmere. Maybe he feels he has a better chance of doing something with us anyway, rather than at a club freshly relegated, even though our playing budget will be smaller. Maybe he just prefers the set up at Wrexham. He might even like the idea of managing a club owned by the fans. And, of course, we've got Louis Moult.

And £10,000 for his assistant Caskey apparently. We will have made a bit from the FA Cup and FA Trophy this season, but I'm not convinced that compensation to get Mills and Caskey in is the best use of the money.

I'm sure I saw you (or another Tranmere fan) posting some figures around budgets and so on the other day in the League Two thread only to be told that it wouldn't be top-end competitive in the Conference. So yeah, perhaps that is an aspect as well.

Surprised as a fan owned club Wrexham can afford north of £100k for the two of them

I think it was expected that we would make a profit of around 75 grand this season back in January and that was before our run to the FA Trophy final, so we will probably have a bit of money to play with even after paying off Kevin WiIkin.

We are fan owned and run sustainably, but also debt free, so any profit that is made can go straight into the budget.

Well done Kevin Wilkin for taking us on cup runs that have helped pay for your departure and then subsequent replacement. Top work.
