...and the silly thing is, we have someone at, or in and around the Club, who knows Gary Mills well.

I guess the problem is Gary Mills has someone at Lincoln who knows the club... ;)

Mills is a very good manager and when it clicks into place we play some beautiful football, but he has a few noticeable flaws which have seen us come unstuck this season.

He's not great at recruitment (seems to have a 1 in 3, maybe 1 in 4 success rate) , pays no attention to the opposition (a Keegan like philosophy of we'll just out football them), is a slave to 4-3-3 (We've only setup differently in 1, maybe 2 matches) & seems to like to play players out of position.

The noises he's been making yesterday pre and post match all point to him staying, but this is football and you can't believe everything you hear. I hope he doesn't go as I have no idea who we'd get.
Didn't you sell a player to Peterborough for £250k and been average since.

Sounds like Mills hasn't decided on his future, as another club has come in for him aswell as Wrexham, no idea if that means he'll be in charge tomorrow untill all is confirmed at the Gateshead press conference.

He's said he's still open to staying at gateshead so I'd have thought he'll be in charge tomorrow. I'm guessing tranmere are the other side

Yep, according to the editor of the NLP, we have been granted permission to speak to Mills but are yet to actually speak with him. I'd imagine we are waiting until we are officially relegated (which could be tomorrow :jones:). I don't know though, I wouldn't write Wrexham out of the hunt yet. They want him, they know the league and he will know their squad and they are probably the only club in the league with a better stadium than Prenton Park.

How the hell have Wrexham got a better stadium than Prenton Park?

Wrexham would have the better ground if the Kop was open. Not much between the two really.

I think it comes into it, yes. Under the bracket of 'available facilities'.
A bit like choosing a big car to drive to the corner shop I guess. Most in the conference are happier with a smaller and more financially affordable model so they have more money to spend on other things.

I'm not convinced your stadium is going to offset the problem with your finances for any ambitious manager

I think Mills would be an astute managerial appointment from Tranmere if they were to go for him/get him.

We're no worse off than any other side in the Conference and should be more than competitive at that level. Title winners? Maybe not, but a top 5 budget has already been promised by our Chairman. We are slowly getting our act together off the pitch.

We dont have any problems with finances. Off the pitch the club is in a healthy position (ex chairman wrote off the money he was owed, new training ground complex on the way, new ambitious owners, good crowds despite being constantly shit), its just on the pitch that's causing us problems.

Fingers crossed you don't go down then. If your finances are good I'm surprised you've ended up where you are.

Not sure Mills and Tranmere in L2 would work? He was shit at York wasn't he?

Mills and Tranmere in the Conference, though...

EDIT - Mind you, he's not done great at Gateshead this season.

Looks like Mills' agent has been quite busy this week spreading the word around that his client is available. Leaves a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth if he goes elsewhere now after talking so positively and coming down for talks and a deal being on the verge of agreement. Not to mention what a right headache for our board this will be if he goes to Tranmere now.

You only have to look at the second half of the season to see how much money we've wasted. Micky Adams signed a ton of new players, the majority of who were terrible, which he then insisted on playing despite better options from the previous regime being available. It's been an absolute disaster from the date the January transfer window opened.

We need a complete clear out and a manager with the contacts and experience to pick out a few gems from this league then build a team around them.

I personally think that he will still join Wrexham. Just wants to get today out of the way

Although the appeal of the parachute payments that Tranmere will have plus any monies from their summer clear out (Max power?) He would have considerably more to play with than us

That's Mills' mind made up in the last few minutes I imagine.
