I personally think that this is a preposterous suggestion

I wouldn't be surprised if he came back one day though, he seems to have a real soft spot for Notts in general and is really well liked by the majority of our fan base. Can take or leave him myself, but wouldn't say no in our current position.

The impression he has given is that he has no desire to travel large distances or move but with Allen I wouldn't trust a word he says and he is one of the most slippery characters in football. I wouldn't believe for a moment he has a soft spot for any side, only that he knows one day he maybe looking for a job so needs to say the right things and he is very good at laying on the charm.

If we took him back for a third time, then anything is possible. If it was anyone else then I'd say no chance.

What's with Allen Smith being the favourite with Victor Chandler?

Just that he's already at the club, I suppose.

Allen in to 2/5 now. Strange!
If it is true then it should mean that RT won't be at the club after June.

Apparently Hessenthaler has said the new manager is essentially in place. Gattuso has a Serie C play off game with Pisa tomorrow. Possible announcement after that?

It's Allen, apparently.

We've sacked head of recruitment Guy Branston. That's one of the obvious obstacles to Allen coming out of the way.

Guy Branston. There's a name that doesn't engender a lot of good will towards him from Barnet fans. Still remembered from the 1998 play off semi when he got Devine sent off.

You can have Allen, pay us some compensation, we can use it to put our ticket prices back to a reasonable level and everyone's a winner... apart from Guy Branston. So everyone's a winner.

Not sure, although he is on a rolling contract so I guess he could just give notice and move on.

Interesting our retained list, as well as the stories of Weston and Togwell signing, carried no quotes from him, and previously those kind of articles would be full of sound bites about what good news it is they've signed on again or the boy deserves to play first team football elsewhere. In addition our chairman gave a press release today about our ticket price increase and only referred to the manager needing a bigger budget, but not Allen by name.

Circumstantial I know but there does seem to be something in this.

heard a John Sheridan rumour although that only seems plausible if a) we have new minted owners or b) he hopes to rekindle a passionate affair with Jason Turner that they started at Newport.

Let's hope they are better than the previous 'minted' owners.

If anyone cares - Andy Hessenthaler looks set to take up our position as Head Coach/manager - He will coach the team and train with them etc and the owner Francesco Becchetti will pick the team - Yes, you have just read that right.

Apparently he is going to pay Hessenthaler a fortune to smokescreen it all in front of the press.

Well he should save his money because he's failed already.

I know it, you know it, this whole forum knows it.

A shame our c*** of an owner is taking the fact he has a few quid too far and refuses to admit that he cannot do such things and be successful.

Sheridan then, no idea how we've managed to get him given how well he's done at Oldham and the other clubs he's been linked to. You think he'd be holding out for something better. Feels like there's more to this.

I will however be £60 richer. Yay me.

What an odd move, from an odd manager! Sheridan is fantastic at keeping sides up a la Newport and Oldham (and us a few years ago). But when it comes to the other side and getting promotion his tactical stubbornness and almost lethargic attitude really hamper his teams and get on fans nerves.

There surely must be more than meets the eye on this move!

I think Plymouth fans are overly critical of Sheridan sometimes, he's a good manager and proved himself as one over the last 10 years at this level, that isn't easy. He may have bottled the play-offs once or twice, but you were in a relegation scrap when he took over, and he certainly left the club in a better place.

I'd argue Notts are in a scenario where they need someone to oversee a transition at the club - based on last season they're not in a place where they can seriously think about promotion or storming the league at this point. He never leaves clubs in a worse position, often better, which is an achievement in itself.

Think its a very good appointment.
