Can’t say I’m that fussed. He’ll score the occasional howitzer but he failed to get involved in virtually every game he played for us.
Strange one that!! when he played for us for the first half of the season he very quickly became the best player in this league by a street, and what i remember is he was'nt very happy at being recalled by swindon.

I'm personally a little bit disappointed. He showed in flashes what he could do in an abysmally run, low in confidence league 1 side and as a local kid it would have been great for him to have kicked on in a properly run side a league below - he shone at Newport. Saying with gritted teeth but I think Franchise and Luke Williams is probably a good next move for him. This is the move where he kicks on, or fails in my eyes.

Bit confused as to why he’d make a sideways move like that. Great signing if you manage it like, but I don’t know why he’d go anywhere other than League One.
speculate to accumulate :cool1:

I’d be very surprised if we signed Vigaroux. As mentioned above am sure a League 1 club would at least have some interest in him and when he was at Swindon didn’t Flitcroft end up suspending him from the club for poor discipline or something like that?

White was one of my favourite players in the promotion season - it felt a bit like he was scapegoated a bit for Bolton being a shambles at the start of last season. We know what he can do, he was popular, he won't be expensive and it's only a year if it doesn't work out. Another good signing.
I don't think he was particularly blamed, Comley was picked out more by the fans. Feel like he was unlucky with the fact no-one else seemed to know the system. He often collected the ball from a CB, ended up twisting and turning looking for a pass and being dispossessed. We were generally just being overrun with the system at that point.

I haven't actually looked back to check the accuracy of this but I think he was fined for something or other and ended up paying it in 1 and 2 pences. Which didn't exactly endear him to management. I think he later apologised and realised he was young and stupid.

He appears to have grown up a lot since then. If he had had the right attitude earlier in his career he'd be a lot higher than he currently is plying his trade.

Talking of Swindon keepers falling out with their managers, still remember this classic featuring Di Canio and 'league 1' Wes Foderingham.

Slightly off-topic, but this is a great watch if anyone has a spare hour - it had me creasing throughout. Gives you a great insight into the Swindon-Di Canio days.

Yeah I agree the system was the major issue. We never saw him in the 4231. He was probably struggling because there were no options for him. He could only pass backwards or sideways because the team shape was crap. It looked like he was a hard worker on the pitch and was tidy in possession in pre season.

What a character Simon Ferry is. I'm sure when Caddis retires he'll also be able to tell a load of stories about the times under PDC.

Looks like it was true about Scott Brown going to Exeter in a player-coach role. The very best of luck to him, he is still a really good keeper and am sure will do more than well for Exeter.

Happy with this. Apparently he’s still registered as a player so will be backup to our new no1 (whoever that turns out to be)

hmmm i was only ok with us releasing him as i assumed he'd go elsewhere as a number 1.

could we have kept him as back up but given him some coaching responsibilities? maybe wages/lack of coaching vacancies is an issue.

anyway, all the best, that's a brilliant signing if you are still looking to bring a number 1 in.

Been told we will be making a signing or two by the end of the week.

I am led to believe one of them will be left back Charlie Daniels, whom we had before selling him to Bournemouth back in 2011.

I’d imagine he will rotate when needed with our youngster Shadrach Ogie for the left back spot, Jackett also had him at Portsmouth and Martin Ling signed him for us originally on loan in 2007 and Pernamently back in 2009.

we are looking at getting 2 defenders a midfield hard man and maybe another forward, with a couple of deals near - will maybe be announcements later in the week (or next week) if all goes well.
Still got a suspicion another Carlisle player raid is on the cards....

If including former Carlisle players as well on Barrows transfer targets then Luke Joyce and Mark Cullen are out there still. Joyce in particular lives in the Greater Manchester area so wouldn’t need to travel far for training.

Not necessarily blamed, but more he was the easy one to get rid of because he was on loan - and him being called shit by other Bolton fans seems a bit unfair given the mess that your tactics were in while he was in the team. It also sounds like at Hartlepool he never quite got to play his real game either because he was there to cover an injury to their star midfielder.

Either way, our club has been keeping tabs on him since his Gateshead days and also tried to bring him in last summer (but Dunn said no) so I think they know exactly how he'll fit into our tactics.

Luke Joyce played for us on loan way back in 2008

Crawley sign Jack Payne from Eastleigh on a 1 year deal with an option for a further year.

Seems there are a few Jack Paynes around so in the interests of clarity I copied and pasted the following from the official site.

"Payne spent his last three years at National League Eastleigh, where he made 83 league appearances across three seasons for the club.

The midfielder spent two years with Ebbsfleet United after a successful 2016/17 promotion season with Blackpool, where he starred in a 2-1 play-off final win over Exeter City. Payne also enjoyed one season with Leyton Orient in 2015/16 after four years at Peterborough United.

At the Posh, Payne made 14 appearances in the Championship in the 2012/13 season, before enjoying two full campaigns in League One where he featured 74 times across the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, scoring 5 goals."

Seems a little odd that after winning promotion from league two he dropped to Ebbsfleet but maybe moving back south had a lot to do with it.

Casey

Just re read that statement from our official site and I'm not sure it's clear at all.

Aaron Martin now confirmed, 2 year deal.

We seem to be announcing one new signing a day so looks like a few are done!

Good level of experience we’re bringing in there. Seems from the announcement this is a suggestion from Crosby who worked with him at Southampton.

Presumably we can't sign anyone at the moment because there are still other options for players. We have to wait until everyone down to the Unibond league has completed their summer business and see who's left.

Reckon you'll take Ethan Walker back? Obviously didn't make much impact but still very young.

Hope so, he would have had a lot more impact had it not been for the injury. Looked lively at the start of the season. By the time he returned, although he still looked lively it wasn't really the environment to suit a teenage winger learning his trade.

Moomin- How do Exeter manage to keep their top youngsters long enough to play for them. We are just losing another, England u16 goalie to Leeds.
