The salary cap won't really affect us, as we're told that we're nowhere near that. Plus we're supposedly a lot better off financially than what we budgeted for - I still wouldn't expect us to cover his entire wages (what will it be, £2k?) but there must be something in it.

L1 striker coming to L2 for a £150,000 will be on more than 2k p/w.

Well exactly - our highest paid player is supposedly on about £1,300 so I can't see us doubling that.

As Barrow fans like myself were saying don't expect instant results with Evatt, as much as he is a hero for guiding us back into the league.

However, the difference will be the seemingly fickle fan-base. Comments suggest he won't be afforded as much time as he was graced with us after a dodgy start.

Nothing wrong in being confident. Just have to prove it’s not misplaced.

I certainly get where your coming from. At Barrow he would have had one aim to stay in the National league that first season and perhaps mid table the second. The board at Bolton paid big money to get him and give him a blank canvess to bring in which players he wanted.
We do have our element of fans who will certainly let him know if things are not going well[no i wont be one of them]

I have time to digest yesterdays match. It will certainly come and the beauty the first four five games will be fanless

If you was a player you would love to play for him. He will get a bigger job than Bolton and when that day comes Bolton will be in a far better state than the day he walked in. Just like at Barrow.
We are the ideal club for him to also improve. Facilities far exceeding anything other managers in this lge work with.
A great owner and he wont be working with players who dont want to improve and move up with him.

Keep your fishing rod for the canal

Genuine question, how do you know he's any good? Never managed at this level and he's just lost his first competitive game to a side in the same division.

We brought in Paul Simpson from Carlisle years ago after he was promoted twice with them and he was utter shite at a more demanding level.

Evatt has proven nothing in the game.

We did the same with Lee Sinnott, think he had a couple in quick succession came to us and we went down from L1.

Most Bolton fans probably didn’t even know who he was let alone how good he is. Time will tell.

From what I understand they’re struggling at the moment to find a style that brings out the benefit of Doyle. That was always going to be the make or break really. If he’s not supplied with fast, instant passes he’s just a passenger.

We've had one competitive game...

If anything the way we're intending on playing will suit itself to someone like Doyle, you'll have the industry of the wing backs and Delfouneso creating for him and then Crawford in behind the front two supplying the little quick through balls and pulling strings. We'll be fine, it will come goals wise.

It's the defending that's going to plague us this season. I know it's early doors for us in this system but for me a defenders first job should be (and I know this is revolutionary) to defend, but we've got the L/RCB carrying the ball well into the opposition half as part of our attacks and leaving the central player exposed in the channels. That's the worrying part.

I'm sure Barrow fans could tell us if that's just an unfortunate byproduct of the way Evatt sets up or if our defenders just aren't getting it yet.

Just because your lot couldn’t get a tune out of him!

Guardiola couldn't get a lower league striker with no pace, strength or redeeming qualities to bag in the Championship.

It's another world for a striker, Jayden Stockley is twice the player Eoin Doyle is and I can't see him ever hitting double figures up here.

You'd know this if we didn't rape you 4-0 in the play-off final.

I think it will be based on how desperate he is to get out, there have been rumours he wasn't keen on coming here in the first place. He started against Preston last week but now we've signed Maynard his playing time could be limited and he'd be willing to take a cut in pay to be happier and playing football.

Our centre backs never really carried the ball forward too much - or at least it was never a problem for us. They were mainly in a three to cover the full-backs, as the wing-backs didn't do much defending at all.

Sounds like White knows the system inside out.

It's hard to say what the weaknesses in his tactics are, because as soon as we went 3-5-2 last season, we pissed it. We probably struggled most when we had to play defensively.

The Carabao highlights looked like he pulled up with an injury in that game?
He does seem to need to be the main man at any club or he loses interest. The link to Barrow is obvious as he's been here so many times before, but it doesn't quite add up - can only see it being a loan if Mansfield want to recoup some losses.

I’ve got a great story about that final - nothing to do with the game, though.

I'm intrigued.

To be fair, the Swindon fans I met were pretty gracious but this is probably the only time i'll be able to gloat about the play-offs. Tenth attempt.

He pulled up after his chance but played on ok, I think he's played for us since so no injuries.
Seen as clubs are now limited on the amount of players over 21 you can have in a squad and us already having 4 other strikers in this category I'd imagine we're pretty keen on getting him out if he doesn't want to be here.

Gut feeling. Managers who do well have a arrogance about them. Atherton his side kick is a decent coach who quietly goes about his work but is well thought of in the game. 90% of people on here could pick a England squad and most of the players would be the same. It just takes someone like Evatt that installs belief.

Respect to Ellison he can give it and take it. Loves to wind opposition fans up but all in good spirits.
Fair play to him and the guy at Crawley who is also still going strong
The guy at Crawley, Dannie Bulman, played the full ninety minutes against Millwall yesterday.
