When I open OFF and see a Stockport fan as the last post on this thread I just assume you've just signed another midfielder...

We are well stocked in midfield and have brought in three more this summer. It appears Grimsby have brought in three in too though? Two for a fee?

Hartlepool fans ever stop whinging?

They've paid fees for a couple of players, signed about 10 players and are looking to try at match Leigh Griffiths' wage demands.

I know they think I just get on their backs but never stop moaning do they.
I stopped moaning on Saturday 13th June 2021 around about 16:55

I assumed the internet geeks would have voted striker as that's the 'sexiest' position. The cynic in me suggests that everyone did vote for a striker but the IT Crowd just said the result was midfielder anyway, as they already have the league's leading scorer from last season, Dom Telford playing for them. I doubt they want to fork out for another 'prestige' striker as they already have one.
Funnily enough, when it was announced the poll was going ahead the fans forum also put a poll up and that came out overwhelmingly for a midfielder too.

That is my fear for these type of things though. We all want another striker and the temptation to go for one regardless will be an issue. However, the "Internet geeks" paid out far more than season ticket holders to gain access so you would hope they would do some research if only to protect their investment.

Fair play, I'll give you that one. What's the current Elliot Hewitt status? Played a lot for you last season, didn't he?

Hewitt played most of last season at RB for us, he’s solid if unspectacular but did a good job. Clough is considering going to a back three with wing backs which may put his position under threat, especially considering he’s missing some pre-season now due to a injury.

overall though I like Hewitt think he’s a good option at RB at this level.

Do you know who these geeks are? From what I've read about your crypto bros their aim is to sell football to crypto investors rather than the other way round so are actively going after people who know nothing about the game and are making a small side-bet on Crawley. That would terrify me, to have a bunch of people who know nothing about football taking decisions like this.

I've got a decent chunk of shares and bonds in Wimbledon but wouldn't dream of thinking that gives me either the right to choose players or the experience to do so despite watching the game for 50 years. Strategic steer through elections to the Trust Board are one thing - and I would fight tooth and nail to keep that ownership model - but the illusion of influence over the team and deciding what sort of players to buy is an absurd gimmick which, as has been pointed out, failed miserably at Ebbsfleet.

League Two is not Fifa Career Mode. I've got a Playstation for that.

Bradford fans, what’s Alex Bass like? We’re linked with him. Frankly, at this stage, any signing will do!

Will pull off a worldie of a save and then throw one into his own net ten seconds later. Widly inconsistent to be honest. I didn't think he was much better than who we already had: Richard O'Donnell.

Hmm thanks. Not sure how I’d feel about him coming here then. Perhaps he just needs to be a regular number 1 at a club to get those inconsistencies out of his game.

He’s inconsistent but has potential, I suppose some of his mistakes could be down to not having regular game time. In the 95th minute against Swindon it completely summed him up, pulls off a great save, ball goes out for a corner from which he charges out and gives away a penalty to lose us the game. I’d probably want better in league 1, but he could be one of those if he cuts out the rush of blood that could play higher.

I don't think we'll play that way, though I wouldn't be against it if it works. Sure, Hudlin's height gives us a target but by all accounts Davison doesn't win anything in the air. Assal (5 ft 6) will be playing alongside or behind one or both of them and the last thing he needs is hoofball. If he gets protection from refs (big 'if') he'll be at least as big a goal threat.

Leigh Griffiths didn't turn up to his Pools medical and the club want to call it off but Hartley is still pleading the case. Griffiths can get in the bin for me.

Not really convinced getting the lad from Walsall on loan is good business. If he performs they can recall him (maybe something agreed that not between transfer windows?) Hope this doesn't mean that Magloire has cooled on the interest.

It does genuinely sign a terrible idea IMO. His hearts not going to be in it at all is it?

Surely you're offering him a decent wage for even to get this far. Money best spent elsewhere as on outsider looking in.

I thought you can't recall season long loans? Or is there a rule change I don't know about?

Leigh Griffiths is a waster. Forfar Athletic recently considered signing him and changed their mind. I really think Pools might struggle massively this season based on recruitment.

Happy with this one. Seems a no nonsense kick it and head it type of player. We appear to have added some height this season. May actually threaten from a corner now!

Like most on here I’d have killed to be a pro footballer I hate stories like this, what a twat doing that to a club willing to give him another chance. If I were a Hartlepool fan I wouldn’t be happy with my manager still wanting him either, someone like Phil Parkinson when he was with us would have told a player to fuck off if his heart wasn’t in it. Something he did to the likes of Davante Cole which his daddy wasn’t happy about…

I'm not sure I think you can put a recall clause if both agree?

No I'm not happy that Hartley still wants it if that's true. I'm not convinced by him yet based on his interviews and other bits and pieces but aye if it was me I'd call him and tell him we tried to help you but your career is finished

Quite possible mate, the business we've done will either be a masterstroke or completely bomb. I'm more looking at the latter.

The thing is according to some Walsall fans, Flynn does not like or want him.

Could be the same as when we play Walsall, A player CANNOT play against the parent club, UNLESS both clubs agree he can.

One or two players may well surprise more than a few.

Yeah it's often the case they can't play against the parent club.

There's a possibility it could be agreed he could be recalled in January maybe but I doubt at any time. Doesn't every team have to name a squad on the 1st September?

I'm wondering the same about us loaning Barclay to Carlisle. Got a feeling he's going to be a good player, just not fallen for him here.
