That's more like it. 2-0 is the least Liverpool deserve from this performance.

It should really be many more though.

Is Herrera injured? United must have SOMEONE who can control and pass a ball better than Schneiderlin and Fellaini.

Also what type of full-back is Varela supposed to be? I've seen nothing to suggest he's a good one so far, but also don't know what his strengths are supposed to be.
A slightly better one than the gutless Darmian.

United have been bad but Liverpool have been very, very good. Think they'll be good next season.

Firmino starting to show his worth, eh. Scousers' looks like one of the better in the league with everyone fit and firing.

Great showing by Liverpool, enjoyable to watch also.
United were completely shit, almost Villa like. Can't see Liverpool slipping up at OT

We were absolutely awful. Quite how Liverpool only managed to score two (with one being a penalty) is beyond me. It shouldn't matter though as they've probably done enough to progress already.

Liverpool really deserved to win that by 3 or 4.

Can't see United turning it around at Old Trafford.

Wow What a fucking PERFORMANCE! Every single player played fantastic tonight. Disappointed we didn't win by more though.

The state of this. Eh, I suppose you better enjoy it because you're going to be there for a long time.

Outplayed in the first half and clueless* in the second. LVG got that massively wrong, couldn't believe it when I saw Fellaini was starting, fuck knows how he stayed on the pitch for 90 minutes. And playing Rashford out wide was pointless as was playing Carrick at CB. We couldn't getting at all in attack and we had to wait until it was 2-0 before we made a double substitution.

*What was our formation in that second half?
Smalling-Carrick-Rojo
Varela Schneiderlin Blind
Mata Fellaini
Memphis Martial?

I think it was...

Smalling Carrick Rojo
Varela Schneiderlin Fellaini Blind
Mata
Martial Depay

... until we got desperate and Fellaini moved more forward kind of like how you've set it out.

Whatever it was it was shit.

Am I surprised by this result? The answer is no.

'They just don't understand'Chester United have once again been proven for the footballing frauds they are. You see, they sell their budgets, the money they spent, according to their 'fans' they'll have Ronaldo and Messi in the summer. But when asked to prove their worth when it matters they come up second best to the superior team.

My question to 'heads in the sand'chester United 'fans' is this: do you 'support' United for the same trason

One of the worst away performances I've seen from us. Completely disjointed. What was our game plan tonight? I genuinely had no idea what we were trying to do. Fellaini should have been sold a long time ago. Disgusting we're playing hoofball after spending over £250m. Something seriously wrong.

The managers summed up the different attitudes to the game I thought Pre-match.

Klopp saying "its the mother of all games" whilst Van Gaal sort of waffled on about the past not meaning ,much...

Am I surprised by this result? The answer is no.

'What they don't understand'chester United have shown the world once again that they are merely an illusion of a club, smoke and mirrors to hide the atrocities they commit on the pitch. Despite the boasting of big spending, record revenue and 'fans' claims they'll sign Messi and Lewandowski each summer they fail to prove their worth when it matters, against a superior team.

My question to 'Heads in the sand'chester United 'fans' is this: Do you realise your 'support' for a club so hung up on theatrics is the same as watching reality TV? Ironic though, considering you can't accept the reality of being a mid-table side.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I understand there was unpleasantness in the stands?

They are still above you in the league though..for now.

(Albeit hardly playing like a side fitting of 5th in the Premier league for most of the season)

Fantastic result and great performance! :D

I thought it was going to be one of those nights even after Sturridge's pen especially when De Gea was once again on fire - fuck me what a keeper - and Coutinho missing that sitter. However they stuck at it and were creating good chances all night though Man Utd were absolutely woeful and how Fellaini stayed on that pitch I'll never know particularly with a card happy ref. Happy Liverpool got the second and a 2 - 0 is perfect going into the away leg - surely Man Utd will show a bit more there?

Great night, I'm going to have a celebratory dram or three tonight! :woo:

I'm having a few drinks myself.

It's the same end product regardless of the result so why don't we skip the whole football part and just spend our time drinking?

We really could have scored more if Real Madrid's fax machine worked properly.
