Certainly see us improving with our better players returning, but until Evatt changes his mindset we are going nowhere
until he changes his mindset from planning ahead to the next Bolton game to checking his CV before sending it out it would seem. Lucky equaliser last night surely saved his job.

Still seems really early to call the teams likely to be in the promotion mix, but I've been surprised and impressed by Cambridge so far.

We do have a small squad and play a very high energy pressing game, so we might find injuries an issue later in the season. When we rested both Hannant and Hoolahan in the EFL cup we struggled. That said, we just beat Salford with a defender playing in midfield as we have three centre mids out injured.

What's been interesting is that many of the teams this year (Tranmere, Walsall, Bolton, FGR, Newport etc.) Seem to aim to dominate possession and this suits our game plan. We're really good defensively and will bully your centre backs and midfielders into mistakes. *Zero obsession with possession", as Mark Bonner says.

I'd be delighted with a play off place tbh. If Bonner gets this squad promoted he will have done an unbelievable job.

Small squad? High press? Defender playing in midfield? Don't dominate possession? Are you us?

Other than his goal against Newport which was a beaut, he has in particular stood out for being shite. Keeps passing it to the opposition like he’s actually employed by Viking Magpie.

I can't find information on whether he played a lot for Southend but there is something in his body language too which suggests he seems very used to losing.

They were very lucky to play us so early with our new team still just trying to gel with each other.

We're quite interesting this season in many ways.

We have the youngest average age of matchday squads in the division
We had the highest turnover of players in the whole EFL in the summer
We have the lowest accumulated experience in the EFL of any side (i.e. lowest total number of EFL games by our players)
We've have the third lowest total posession in the division
We take the highest number of shots per game of anyone
We allow the second lowest number of shots against per game of anyone

We have a genuine good manager who knows what he's doing and unlike Curle and Pressley, he doesn't seem to talk shite and complicate things for L2. None of that 'Earn the right to play, then we go and play' non sense.

It's been ages since we had a team that presses the opposition which is not totally reliant on loanees like it was under Sheridan for a bit.

Anyways, at Gatwick Airport now. 5 pints deep. Won't be on here till lockdown is over so crack on and enjoy your lefty chat and Masi's trolling.

Exeter will be top by the time I next check in with ya all.

Enjoy the peace and quiet in my absence.

Nobody takes me liberties away, not even BoJo.

Boarding now so adios, hope you all do well and when I revisit I expect the Bolton relegation thread to have confirmed next to it.

Where you off Cyprus?

I feel like you watch one side and just know they’re going up as Champions, I’ve 100% not seen that side yet.

20/1 is generous for Carlisle. If I did work for William Hill I’d probably have us at 200/1.

Even if we were 10 points clear at the top, I know come January the club would sell our best players and weaken the squad so that we fucked it up.

Very lucky last night. Nothing will change until he implements change, by the time we play Salford a week a friday
he can have a new keeper, a more solid back 4 decent midfield and forward line. With Gilks Gethin Jones, Lloyd Isgrove, Shaun Miller, and Eoin Doyle all returning, but i fear Evatt wont change much

You do realise that they have WiFi overseas nowadays don’t you?

i suspect that mum has found you looking at a dodgy website and has taken all your devices away from you for a month.

Poor kid, loosen up mum, we all did it

ps that last line is dependent on what type of filth he has actually been looking at and I reserve the right to deny any knowledge of numerous types of websites along those lines!!

What you doing at Gatwick ? Thought Exeter had a all dancing singing International Airport.
Magaluf is a bit quiet at this time of year, hope you have got your hankie for your head and your Exeter full football kit for the strip..

I get ya.

I think some of our signings will improve especially under the new manager, Rawson shown some proper defensive attributes last night.

We desperately need Ollie Clarke back in midfield.

Problem with Rawson is that he tries to head everything too aggressively. He makes poor decisions on when to attack the ball and has no composure, so he's constantly out of position or giving the ball straight back to the other team. However, that could be coached out of him. I also disagree with those saying Menayese is our poorest signing. There could be a player in there.

This isn't close to true. Paul Farman (31), Rod McDonald (28) and Lewis Alessandra (31) have all played over a thousand minutes this season.

We, unfortunately, have the youngest average age at 22.5, our oldest player that has been in the squad is 25. Carlisle have the 6th youngest average squad. You can find the full list here - League Two - Average age of formation

Although Crawley are showing we've used older players this season it is somewhat skewed by Dannie Bulman (41)and Tony Craig (37).

We seem to have gone for an older spine with younger players around them. Having said that, its not how youg/old the players are its how good they are.

That's the way I would prefer. Sadly we have zero experience and it's showing.

Think we have the youngest by some measure though. Match day 18 or full squad or something.

Can’t beat experience.... Oddly we have some fairly young players in the squad but do have Pope, Robinson, Worrall, Brown, Joyce in their 30s now.

I think we have the right youth/experience balance for how we’re trying to play. As mentioned in the thread, we don’t dominate possession, but boy do we work hardto win the ball high up the pitch. We have the experience of Alessandra and McDonald but around that is a lot of youth and bags of energy that run and run and run.

All in all it’s the total opposite to Steven Pressley’s unfit team of headless chickens.

Never thought I'd see the day you'd be so bullish to have Carlisle as low as 200/1 to go up!

You must be fucking good.

Yeah I think we've benefited so much from the endless energy that Mellish, Toure, Kayode, Patrick and when he comes on, Reilly have. We're comfortable chasing the play and then when we get it, making good use of the time we have to get it forward, almost like a rugby team, setting up without the ball and shepherding rather than dictating the play. The opposition get the ball but then are constantly backpedalling.
