Outrageous the lengths that LvG and co will go to for an advantage. Worried about using players in what could be a dead rubber match if City get a result ahead of a cup final they've phoned in a fake bomb scare so they can see if it's a game worth playing for so they can adjust their team as neccesary when they know if it's worth trying in.
Disgrace.

Confirmed?

God knows, there's a secondary tweet below. Could be total bollocks, but I think he's live on Talk Sport so he's letting himself in for one almighty storm if he's talking out of his arse.

Stewards here definitely saying device, including phone, was strapped to gas pipe. Not confirmed. MUFC say their own security found it.

It'll be an absolute ball ache for both of these to replay the game, can see them sending the kids out especially with United being in the Cup final.

But is that enough time to re-schedule it?

I see your point, but it doesn't really matter if there's conceived 'time'. It has to be played, simple as that. Whether or not both sides play a full strength team, who knows, hopefully they do, though.

I don't understand a controlled explosion on something that isn't explosive (assuming it was a hoax) do they literally use their own explosives to destroy the object? Possibly adding fuel to the fire? That can't be right.

Don't see how anyone benefits from a hoax like that. It's not funny and just immature.

That's pretty much it, yeah. It's far safer than just assuming its a hoax and trying to move/disable it.

Safest way.

Well, that was a bit shit.
Still had a day out and a few beers with mates. Won't be able to make the Tuesday replay, hopefully can get money back.
Does suffering a bomb scare make us massive? ;)
United stewards were very good.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

Surely they don't know it's not explosive until after it's been 'dismantled'?

Apparently the device at was mistakenly left on the pipe during a security drill on Wednesday.

Well needless to say that was not what I expected from a final day trip to Old Trafford!

What was initial confusion gave way to something very well handled by greater Manchester Police and the stewards; have to compliment them although we were kept in the dark (and in the ground at our end) for long periods. Co-ordinating that many people is no easy task though!

Ah well, a 12 hour trip for a couple of drinks in a pub. We'll probably only take 500-600 on Tuesday which is a shame.

Must say, I haven't laughed so much at a news story than I did today. Thanks to Manchester United PLC for cheering me up.
