They could be an early shout, along with Scunthorpe, to find themselves in a relegation battle next season. Don't know how things are behind the scenes there but they've made some poor decisions over the last twelve months and have some important decisions to make now becuase on the field they've been pretty awful.

I feel it was very much a case of Pomlett really liking Dutton, so he gave him the 20 games as an extended trial period to be appointed permanently in the summer, but 3 wins in 20 later and it was painfully obvious he wasn't up to the standard. Was very much a case of cutting costs from Feb to now, and then hopefully building with a fresh start from today with a new manager, a DoF that we appointed a couple weeks ago, and releasing a lot of the dead-wood. Rip it up, start again and try and get rid of the smell that billy big bollocks Clarke left behind.

Kind of bizarre given they had a bad start to the season and Hill came in and got them into the playoffs. I know the Tranmere fans have been complaining about his style of football almost since he was appointed but results speak for themselves surely

I know Tranmere fans have been critical of Hill but their dip seems to have coincided with the loss of Vaughan. Take any top scorer out of any team and you’re going to struggle.

Suppose the good news is Dawes did a really good job as caretaker before so if he repeats that then it’s all good for them.

I can sort of understand it - seems to have lost the dressing room and fallen out with fans. He'll have had a break in his contract to allow him to be sacked for free at the end of the season (like Jolley with us), so would've gone anyway. May as well play the play-offs with a bit of a feel-good factor and hope it's enough.

I can understand the confusion from the outside, but i have never known a manager to completely wipe a club off all optimism so quickly. Take a look at his post match interview from Saturday and it will give you a jist of what we have had to put up with the last few months.

Awful football, constantly berating the fans in interviews, signing players to never play them.

The whole mood of the club has changed this morning. As others have said Dawes did a great job as caretaker and many wanted him to get it full time before Hill was appointed.

Keith Hill did as exactly as Keith Hill does. Good start, says the right things initially, then when the pressure is on he has a full-on meltdown. And I mean full-on. Blaming players, blaming fans, blaming the colour of the kettle in the dressing room. Well not quite, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

It probably seems like odd timing but you don’t need that poisonous attitude around the place before the playoffs. Right decision, 10 games too late.

Of that list would say I’d be avoiding Swindon like the plague until know more on their ownership situation. With Salford it’s just a case of negotiate a good severance package. Orient would be a job that should interest a lot, good owners, a decent enough squad with a few additions and London will always attract some players.

Wouldn’t rule out adding Rochdale and Scunny to this list either. Haven’t bothered to check but the latter of them has been through a few managers under this owner already.

I'd have Hill here. He's not the cup of tea for someone with aspirations of promotion but for a club like us that need to establish ourselves he's probably exactly the type we need. We tried two 'experiments' of relatively inexperienced coaches and it almost ended in disaster. Besides, a club finishing 21st gradually improving their infrastructure isn't exactly an appealing proposition for a successful league manager.

He criticised the supporters and called us fickle. 3 seasons in non league with average attendances never falling below 5,000 is hardly fickle.
He clearly fell out with the players big time.
He always referred to the club as 'them' and 'they' and never us and we.
I have nothing against him personally because i do not know him but as a manager of our club he wasn't right.
The timing was due to a lot of supporters saying they would seriously consider renewing season tickets if he stayed. Its a business decision as much as a football one. Fan power won.

That's often what fans say after a disappointing season, there's not much more entertaining though than success and not many fans will say if they get promoted that they'd rather have played more positive football and stayed down.

Grimsby fans the only ones I can think of after getting promoted from the Conference who were keen to get rid of their manager, and look at the appointments they've made since then, and who's managing them now.

Wow, I was unaware of the ill feeling and the other points you made. He must have been seriously unpopular if the season ticket thing was real and not exaggerated. Good background and makes it a bit easier to understand for fans of other teams

In Hills case he has taken Rochdale up a couple of times so he can do that role. As with almost all managerial appointments it’s about the right fit and circumstances more than anything. Look at Accy with Coleman who anyone would say has done an incredible job there. Rochdale fans would tell you rather differently what they think of him I guess.

I could see him being the right sort of manager for Barrow assuming you don’t give it to Kelly (which I’d be wary of doing).

I am lead to believe we have spoken to Neil Ardley, Kenny Jackett and Paul Tisdsle.

I think it is likely to be Neil Ardley.

Would love us to take a punt on Jackett, but I think he will stay in League One.
