How good is this player going to be? That goal at West Ham was sublime, the quick feet to get passed the defender showed class, i can see him stick a Hat Trick passed Villa tomorrow.

He is doing well - it will be a massive shame if Rooney waltzes back into the starting lineup at Rashford's expense.

I hope the next Manchester United manager does not ruin his development. I respect LVG in the sole regard he believes in him.

I don't think anyone's getting carried away. Nobody is expecting much more than him to be a good option off the bench and in reserve. He's benefiting from LVG's strongest attribute in giving young players game time and belief.

Yet you know that is exactly what will happen. Be it internationally or at club level, Rooney will always be first choice striker no matter what. Internationally because England managers are too shit scared their decision not to play him will be blamed by the press if things go wrong (even if it's bollocks), and at club level because you can't have a player earning £300k a week sitting on the bench if he's able to play, no matter how shit he's become.

van Gaal played them both in the last match. I think that'll be the way forward from us now.

I can't imagine Van Gaal being happy long term to play two strikers. It sounds too exciting a style of football to me.

Ha, that's true but he'll play Rooney in midfield where Wayne will perform his Paul Scholes wannabe act.

We could potentially play with 3 strikers with Martial back on the left. We'll still struggle to score.

Except, as you know deep down in that dark corner where you're occasionally honest with yourself, he wasn't England's greatest ever striker even when he was at his peak. Now? Even if he's fit there are 2-3 England strikers who should be ahead of him. But we've covered that shit to death, it's boring.

Scored more goals than everyone else as you well know............i will concede Kane should be first choice this summer.........but the rest is a coin toss on who offers more to the team overall.............if Sturridge was fit and not prone to breaking his nails every weekend i would have him too.

that any better for you?

Wonder how many of those goals came in a real tournament against half decent teams. Rooney is lucky he had to compete against the likes of Crouch, Carlton Cole , Defoe, Bent etc for the England forward position.

Been here before, it's boring. To use Lineker as an example, he scored 48 goals in 26 games less than Rooney scored 48 goals. Does having an additional 3 goals in an additional 29 games suddenly make Rooney the better England striker? Not for me.

I can't see anything there that argues against the point I made so I'll assume you finally agree with it.

Kane/Vardy should be the first choices for the summer, the English strikers in best form. Rooney should still go to the Euros but as a sub/squad player who has experience, he'd still be in England's best 4 for me therefore should go. As for Rashford, I'd say it's too early, unless he nets like another 5 in the remaining games then I don't think he should go. Kane and Vardy being the top scorers in the division, Rooney as an experienced option and more than likely one of Welbeck or Strurridge will go as 4th striker (Walcott will be taken as a winger and could act as a 5th striker if required).

There *must* be someone in better form than Walcott. He's been a liability for months.

Probably is, however expect him to be taken for versatility or some reason.

Assume what you want but i'm happy in the knowledge he is England's greatest ever goalscorer there is no argument.

Why not admit it's because he is an Evertonian who played for United :hypo:

i think he is too young he will sink or swim and thats too much of a risk...............still less of a risk than Sturridge's fingernails.

For exactly the same reason I'll not claim Everton won't forever be in Liverpool's shadow. Namely that it would be a lie. :hypo:
