Everton taking Moyes back would be better than Martinez, but we should be aiming higher than a manager who openly admits he doesn't go out to win every game

From what I remember, Everton were a top 8 side under Moyes and had quite a bit of fun in the EL. The games against United were often 3-3 thrilliers (or something like that) and he won at places that you wouldn't fancy Everton to win at.
The underlying truth in all this is that I don't think there's someone out there suited for the job better than Moyes. The lack of decent managers is becoming a serious problem that is forcing club owners to stick with what they have unless they find someone better (which is becoming a more uncommon event as years go by).

Much as I think Moyes gets a hard time, isn't this the exact opposite of the truth? They were terrible away to big teams and he didn't get a single win at Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or United in his decade or so there.

This is why I don't want Moyes back. He was just too cautious, he took us as far as he could. Bill, give Pellegrini a call, no harm in asking.

I'd rather like Everton to get Moyes back - would be good to know we're winning the derbies.

Some tabloid/internet rumours flying around that Pelligrini's interested. That'll do me.

Dead wood for the new manager to get rid off in the summer:

Howard - already on the way out
Robles - Sadly not the answer, prone too to many mistakes
Hibbert - Baffling the loyalty shown to this man, should have been shown the door after the 2009 cup final
Gibson - Intelligent player when fit, however likes a drink too much and has done fuck all in the last 2 years
McGeady - Why on earth did we buy this fella in the first place? Can't beat a man, can't cross, can't get a game a sheff wed on loan.
Oviedo - Positionally inept, still living off a goal against Man Utd 3 seasons ago.
Kone - £6m down the drain and injuries have killed him. Shown decent glimpses with Lukaku, however couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.
Mirallas - A player whom I like, however blows too hot and cold. Also played about 20 minutes all season.
Niasse - I'm not even prepared to give this fella a chance, signed for £13m in January and not able to get himself fit to have an impact.
McCarthy - Simply not good enough, doesn't get stuck in doesn't run forward, doesn't pass.
Barry - Player of the season and only one who hasn't disgraced himself. Too old however and needs replacing.
Osman - See Hibbert.
Pienaar - Lost all his pace, doesn't play yet still earns a wage. No room for sentiment, so time to go Steven.
Coleman - Been found out majorly and has little impact on games anymore. Plays knock and run football, no longer good enough.

Players who will get sold:

Lukaku - Terrific player and needs time to grow. Had awful service all season and has still managed to score goals.
Stones - A good manager would have enabled Stones to push on to the next level, I fear he is at risk of regressing whilst at Everton.
Barkley - One of our own, who has been destroyed by our fans. Barkley is a confidence player and has had shit all season which is sad to see.

Either way, whoever get's the job has got a hell of a job on their hands. Hopefully Moshiri will put his money where his mouth is and give the required financial backing.

Kenwright - Let go of the club now. Your time as custodian has been the worst in the history of the club and you have seen overseen abject failure after abject failure. Time to go. Ridiculous that he still has influence even after selling 50% of the club.

I'd expect you'll wait til the season is over. As with LvG I'd expect it's cheaper to sack them after the season is done.

Benitez needs to be first choice. Following Newcastle's relegation, he's almost certainly going to use his get out clause so Everton should swap Spaniards over the summer.

In hindsight Newcastle left things too late, they should have bit the bullet with McUseless a month before, they would still be in the top flight if they had.

I'd be surprised if Valencia weren't in the running for him though, which might be more appealing.

Fans wouldn't want Benitez either. I think we will end up with Koeman

Why would Koeman leave Southampton? Currently a sideways move at best unless this new part owner indicates he's willing to put millions in for purchases. They're going to finish around 15 points ahead and last season was no different.

Barkley was terrific until xmas so a bit harsh, i agree with rest except i don't think Stones will go unless we get a ridiculous offer.

You won't get Koeman. De Boer is your best bet as I've said before. I agree on Rafa that the fans wouldn't want him, I also don't think he'd want to go there. If he'd had the same accolades on hs CV with a different premier league club then he'd be first choice, as is it'd make things too tough. If Everton got off to a shaky start or a mid season blip all the agent Rafa stuff would be peddled about and it'd turn sour very quickly.

I'm not so sure about him not wanting to go there, although I agree most Everton fans wouldn't want him for similar reasons as Chelsea fans, even if things were going well as per Chelsea.

If it were the only job available then I think he'd want it, as it is I think he's got better options. Not even sure if he'd want to leave Newcastle to go to Everton. If he stuck with the Geordies and got them promoted he could do well with them long term. If he failed to get promotion he can leave without too much fuss made as most people will look at Ashley as the problem and stroll into another job.

Writing has been on the wall for a while now. With the players they have and the fact that the league has been so open this season, they should have been competing around the European spots

Torn between thinking it's a bit shitty to do this before the final game of the season, and thinking they're putting him out of his misery by sparing him some abuse on Sunday. Shame it's happened like this. He's a nice man. But 100% the right decision to sack him.

My mate works at Finch Farm, he told me they've been having practice games against a set of dummies lined up in formation.

We lost 3-0.
