Macclesfield dirtiest side I've seen in the Conference. Misogyny by their manager in the away game, now racist abuse from Turnbull on Smith in the home game, as well as professional fouls throughout today's game. I hope they have the book thrown at them.

Not having any of that. Macclesfield's supposed dirtiness is irrelevant, you can't lose your cool like that.

I'm also fed up of "he must have been racially abused" popping up every time an incident such as this occurs. There is no evidence of that, and as far as I'm aware not even an accusation of it. If someone's found guilty then I'll change my mind, but until then, pointless speculating.

As much as the one on Taylor from what someone has posted on last weeks match thread. I was behind the goal so too far away from either to give a proper opinion. I don't think any highlights have been released anywhere for some reason?

The thing is last weeks game wasn't dirty, and there were no lasting effects from either decision which saw the game turn rotten. It was just well fought out all across the pitch.

Today's sounds the total opposite.
If it was then fair enough, but you're northern, I'm afraid you're just going to have to accept that you're the dirty team here ;)

Getting away from the sour notes, how was the actual game of togger?

Broken up horribly by the amount of fouling and balls being kicked out but still one of the more entertaining games this season, probably because we're still well matched sides. Yours were handy putting aside all ill will, had one stride more than us and were more decisive, whereas we seemed to have more time on it I guess. As the scoreline suggests the first half was Macclesfield's and the second was the Shaymen's.

Finally, a decent Halifax poster on this forum.

He's been around for a while, you've been blinded by your obsession with me.
I think the reverse is true if I'm being quite honest with you. Remember that time you dedicated a whole thread to me?

It's ok, you're not the first person.

Ta.

Sounds promising that we've put 2 relatively decent performances together back to back. Could have done without Fairhurst's moment of idiocy though. What triggered it? I've read storied from just a general foul on him not being given, to being purposely tripped, to a pretty nasty challenge where your lad could well have been redded for?

The whole incident was directly in front of the lino, who saw fit to flag only for a Macclesfield throw. It may well have been a "robust" challenge but it's supposed to be a man's game after all. If Fairburn doesn't like it I suggest he takes up netball. :box:

Are you just simply not able to give a straight forward answer every once in a while?

If Fairburn (no idea why you call him that but i'll amuse you) is to take up netball, I suggest Adam Smith takes up some sort of barbaric cage fighting. He'd be up in front of a judge for what he did after the final whistle in any other walk of life.

So would your number two who connected with his fist 3 times to Smith's face. What isn't straightforward (one word) about my answer? No foul given because no foul was committed, hence the lino who was on the spot only flagged for a throw in. You might have a more valid take on it if you'd actually been at the match, rather than relying on hearsay.

Great win for Rovers today and I have to agree with what Gassy said; we didn't play to our best, so in some ways 5-1 was perhaps slightly more than we deserved.

Having said that, we didn't have to come out of second gear against a Chester side who in the first half were very, very poor. They weren't exactly decent at any stage during the game, but they were brighter for a spell in the second half and score a good goal. How McConville missed that sitter from 3 yards at 0-0 I'll never know, mind!

We cruised into a 3-0 lead and were as steady as you like, but in typical Rovers fashion we sat back a little too much at the start of the second half. What impressed me most, though, was our response to conceding a goal and we went on to reaffirm our dominance with two more goals. Worsnop should have saved Monkhouse's second, without doubt, but the fifth goal was superbly finished by Harrison after a great flick by substitute Nathan Blissett put him through on goal.

All in all it was exactly the type of performance we needed to ramp the pressure up on Barnet and Grimsby, as well as reinvigorate Gasheads' hopes ahead of our trip to Kiddy on Monday. Excellent all-round from us.

Over to you Bees and Mariners...!

Edit: Great home attendance - the highest in the Conference this season. Well done Gasheads. Huge credit to the Chester fans who made the trip too, a great number of you considering the distance and the fact you have nothing to play for.

I asked the question because I wasn't there. All I needed was what happened, not some childish comment about netball.

Hadn't realised teams were playing today. That's a very important win for Rovers, we've already got a big-ish attendance lined up for tomorrow apparently and we very rarely turn up at home infront of a big crowd, so more pressure on us, not to mention the goal difference getting tighter. Absolutely 100% vital that we win tomorrow now or it becomes too difficult I fear.

Decent set of results today. Cant be a bigger incentive for us to win tomorrow surely?

Especially as it is officially our favorite away ground and the away ground in the Conference we have never lost at.

I think he'd perceived McManus to have gone for him rather than the ball in the challenge, felt provoked and lost it. If Adam Smith were sent down for what he did, Fairhurst would get the same penalty and Halls slightly worse for his running windmill thuggery.

Yep Andy Halls will be getting at least four games because of sticking up for Holroyd. He's held his hands up and apologised but not much use now. Will be interesting to see the level of punishments dished out to both parties.

This is "kind of" funny actually, because people on our forum were joking that we wanted a draw and 6 red cards. Looks like there'll be a fair few suspensions at this rate.

Theres sticking up for someone and theres being a fucking idiot. Deserves everything he gets which should be more than 4 games. He's a footballer not a boxer which this video just proves even more especially when he falls over at the end.

He'll get punished, but after a hot headed game like that, if you don't want to be punched in the face, don't put the nut on someone who is coming over, seemingly just to shake hands.

At ours as well, ages ago, back in 2007 I think.

Match ended up being delayed by a good hour!
Kicked off at 9.00pm. 1-0 Chester, Tony Dinning penalty iirc.Never heard anymore about that either.
