Utterly deserved win for Sutton, best team from first to last whistle, it would've helped if we had put up any sort of resistance but we were awful, really rotten, not a single player can come out of that with any credit.

Congratulation to the champions, enjoy the football league, over the course of the season you've deserved it.
Utter dogshit a hugely underwhelming performance in a big game. If that's an indication of how we'll be when we inevitably play Eastleigh in the PO, another big strong physical outfit, then just forget it.

Question marks over team selection for me, Donaldson awful but he wasn't the only one. Angol looks not a patch on Ferguson and the two keepers we have available aren't experienced enough. Johnson looked like a carthorse and Liddle struggled against their pace. We have too many horror show performances in us.

Credit to a strong Sutton team who barely gave us a kick. They looked like they wanted it more. The most effective side we've played and the league reflects that.

Barely any reaction from the Sutton fans, a smattering of polite applause from most in the ground.

On the two occasions I visited GGL pre-covid I barely noticed their fans. Very quiet bunch.

They fully deserved the title though. They have a reputation for bottling games under pressure but with all the pressure on them today they made no mistakes. So much for the pitch conspiracies!

Does that mean you will not be bothered if Dave Challinor leaves?

Odd comment of course I'd be bothered but I wouldn't blame him for leaving. The club is an absolute shell thanks to RS and it's all down to him that we're even challenging.

Shelton not playing was a big miss and we can only presume Ferguson missed out for the same reason? Not impressed with Angol at all, wouldn't offer him anything for next season.

Donaldson looked like a player who'd barely played all season, seemed daft to start him, haven't been impressed with Crawford at all but surely you'd pick him before Donaldson in that situation.

My optimism from the start of the week must've been wind, thank god we have a belly tickle opponent on Saturday.

Seems to be the preferred option and he would have a decent budget at Tranmere with a fairly clean slate to sign players with only 5 or 6 under contract.

Congrats to Sutton, brilliant achievement to see it through and deserved champions.

From our point of view, don’t mind seeing another team stuttering into the play-offs form wise at all, although they’re probably still the one team I would want to avoid.

If you’re not in form going into play offs it’s tough going.
Usually true although with our 2 successful play off campaigns we lost our last game in 97/98 and lost our last 2 games in 15/16 but still won them both.
And in one year we beat Newport 3-0 last regular game of the season, then we played them straight after in the play offs and they beat us home and away and went up.

Well played Sutton, good luck in the league.
I don’t think that’s true. We were promoted from this division through the play offs after losing our last three league games without scoring a goal. We even lost the first leg 1-0 for good measure.

I think having the ability to turn it on for big games is a bigger factor.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Well deserved championship Sutton, the pitch conspiracy ( into which I bought) knocked firmly on the head. Enjoy the EFL, hope the financial implications of the pitch change aren’t insurmountable.
Good to see another new EFL team. Conference now a graveyard of glory.

Bloody hell, I never expected a day like today ever to happen. I’ve supported Sutton for 27 years. For most of that time our staple diet has been against teams like Billericay, Basingstoke and carshalton. By strength of resources alone we should be fighting relegation at this level. But here we are, champions.

As for the game we looked confident and barring a few chances for Hartlepool, in control throughout. Not spectacular but strong and efficient, like our season. Since the defeat at Meadow Lane we’ve won 4 games in a row, our best run of the season and a sign of character.

No brainer isn't it really? Club in the league above with a big budget and a club he's got loads of history with.

Wouldn't surprise me if his head has already been turned and might explain the terrible performance team selection and his strange post match comments.

I can understand Shelton being left out,he had a previous injury which effects him playing on synthetic pitch’s,but Fergusons ommision was baffling.
Even though we didn’t have our best eleven,I’m shell shocked at how shit we were.
Three defeats in four now,our play off rivals will be rubbing there hands.

Just watched his interview and he wasn't very 'up' was he. Having said that it's the only one I've seen so that's perhaps how he is.
