I guess you never met the Stalybridge ultra kids? A few got ejected when they tried throwing a pie into the home end.

No less tinpot than the Mossley Ultras

How did other clubs treat you lot in the lower leagues? I know that you used to take hundreds to away games, and obviously, outnumber the home fans, and some fans certainly don't like this.

Treat them well and they'll treat you well, I found, we were generally well received bar a few. I think we learned from Halifax's mistakes being a few years behind them to be honest.

As were we really but idiots shout loudest. A few of them at Garforth, Clitheroe, AFC Flyde. Buxton was pretty much full of them, worst set of fans I've ever been witness to. I go misty eyed for those days though, friendlies away at little grounds are vital nourishment for me and I'd much rather return to most of those places than draw them/anyone else at home in the cups.

As promised to mnb089mnb, there was a fairly big punch-up outside the ground after our 1-1 draw at Hemel, embarrassing. I would mention their incompetent stewards but I'll save that for my report on the Conference South thread.

I also saw a bit of "aggro" outside York Road this evening after the Maidenhead vs Basingstoke game.

Dark days for the Conference South.

Joe. isn't particularly happy on Twitter and from the stories he's saying I can't say I blame him either. It's a Conference South hooligan epidemic!

Posted by an Ebbsfleet supporter on another forum.

I just hope they (Bromley) don't make the league, currently smashing up the cars in Northleet, this with only barely 100 of them imagine 150 in the league, thugs.

All I'll say is hyperbole much? No doubt most Ebbsfleet supporters are right and those Bromley 'supporters' should have the book thrown at them but chances are most 'proper' supporters didn't cause any trouble at all, I've never had a problem with a Bromley supporter and they've been fine this season. If what is being reported is true then the police will do their job adequately and arrest said supporters accordingly.

Bromley fans have always been a bit off with most other teams... they seem to not mind us because they for some reason also dislike AFCW.

I remember reading on the Sutton forum once that they were calling the Sutton fans 'aids ridden paedophiles' for no real reason.

I imagine they're still sore about Ken Livingstone's imposition of the "Fair Fares" policy on all of London with Bromley not having any tube lines of any kind.

On another note, how can you "attempt" to throw a pie? It's hardly the most difficult thing to throw (unless the foil is super hot).

Think there was about 15 cars damaged in the road surrounding the station last night. Couple of house windows were bricked too. Train delayed for 45 minutes while Police took statements etc.

Caused a fair bit of damage in the ground too. Seats were ripped up, pipes damaged, etc. Just Palace/Charlton youngsters who can't handle a beer and think they're big time hooligans. At one point they even started on Bromley fans! Palace aren't playing in three weeks when we go there either so that could be on interesting. Reckon they'll be stamping out on them though.

Especially in view of the unpleasantness surrounding a fan's suicide a couple of years back.
I remember a Cambridge fan getting banned from the old TFF for maintaining the line that exploiting that horrible event was fair game. He upset quite a lot of people with that.

While I certainly did not agree with him, I thought it was very unfair he was the only one they banned. There were several others who liked his posts and agreed with him. Also, his posts got me thinking about free speech. I'm one who firmly believes in the Voltaire saying 'I don't agree with you but I'll defend your right to say it'. Where do we draw the line?

Don't get me wrong, I'll say again I found his posts offensive. Suicide is a very ugly thing and no one should make banners relating to someone's unfortunate circumstance.

Ps The guy had previous for expressing similiar thinking on our forum too, and I think he was banned more than once

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
Some years ago I went up to Doncaster and the old Belle Vue ground to see Bournemouth.

In the second half we won a penalty up the other end of the ground. Behind the home terrace at that end, were half a dozen portacabin style rooms that could loosely be called "exec boxes". As our striker put the ball down on the spot and thought about his run up, the lights in each of said portacabins all started switching off and on, off and on. Each with that slight blink and delay that comes with florescent tube lights!

What a gloriously tinpot attempt to put off the opposition striker, and presumably was a rehearsed and previously executed routine for opposition penalties as each box started doing this independently at roughly the same time. People must have known to jump up to their room's light switch ready when a penalty was given. Looked hilarious from the other end of the ground.

(For the record, the penalty was scored but we lost the game none the less...)

This is a magnificent thread, by the way!

If this is about the Stalyvegas fan who lobbed a pie, it was just at no-one in particular. Or maybe it was directed at the world he was born into.
