What is this fresh madness? £900,000 at Step 1 and £540,000 at Step 2 proposed.

Is that total wage budget for a year?? I can see the brotherhood having something to say about this.

Way too little that.

Never going to happen:

That appear to have been thrown out because the EFL didn’t consult the ‘Professional Football Negotiating and Consultative Committee’. I wonder if that applies in this dungeon?

From what I read of the proposed salary cap in League 1, the biggest fan was the Fleetwood chairman. An absolute piss taker. The equivalent of us proposing a salary cap in the Premier League after we’ve bought our way through the other 4 leagues.

Andy Pilley is a wanker. He tweeted me last year that fans should let their clubs vote for Project Big Picture as it represented a perfect deal for all lower league clubs. Just what I'd expect from a bankrolling hobby club owner whose only interest is money to overpay lower league players.

Bromley’s ST and match day prices are rather alarming. Their supporters are understandably angry on Twitter.

25 quid for sitting in that ground? I'd be angry too

Must make them the most expensive in the league?

Even though it was scrapped there's a salary cap in planning behind the scenes that will be tougher than the current SCMP which is so open to abuse. I don't expect anything to be announced for this season, but certainly for next season you'll see a tighter cap but not as draconian as the flat cap.

King’s Lynn were trying something similar too last season.

Looks like Bromley want their fans to buy season tickets. £290 for a terrace ticket is ok i suppose?
Can't say i'll be paying £20 as an away fan on their open terrace [unless we're about to win the league :) ]

Personally I would rather pay £20 to stand on a terrace than £20 to sit down, standing at away games is what it’s all about, so much better.

Think our wage this year will be around £1.5m
Ours won’t be too far from that, last year I read that it was 1.6M and it’s getting increased this year but I don’t know by how much so i’d guess it will be anywhere from 1.7M-2M, that’s if that figure from last year is correct.

You’re in luck as Bromley don’t offer seated accommodation to away fans (or at least they didn’t when we last visited a couple of weeks before this Covid stuff started) - but you do get a nice open terrace, which you can access through an unlit, unpaved road and car park.

Oh dear someone has been a naughty boy
A ‘suspended’ National League footballer is in Norwich Crown Court on a drug supply charge after being accused of being part of a conspiracy.

King’s Lynn Town’s 31 year old defender Rory McAuley has already been charged with conspiring to supply a class A drug and possession of criminal property.

Didn’t the PFA just sue the EFL for trying to introduce a salary cap and got it overturned? Presumably the same thing would happen here.
As below, it was because the EFL didn't follow the correct procedures and have a consultation period, instead deciding to take feedback from Clubs and throw it into a vote. It was a vote that needed to be pushed through at the time because the EFL were trying to sort funding from the PL and the PL refused until there were salary caps in the Championship. The compromise was to negotiate a L1 & L2 cap and then deal, get the funding sorted and then deal with the salary cap resistance from Championship Clubs.

That appear to have been thrown out because the EFL didn’t consult the ‘Professional Football Negotiating and Consultative Committee’. I wonder if that applies in this dungeon?

He was a complete cock about it all. For someone who's made some decent money, he failed to understand it or read all the small print (one being Project Big Picture suggested that if the 'Big 6' take their rights out of the TV packages and sell it themselves, then the TV deals would actually go up 10%...!).

Feels like a big season for Garrard at BW? Highly thought of for years now but hasn't really delivered the goods given the money they seem to spend.

He's very good in the transfer market, but his teams always play in such a dour style. They have the quality to win comfortably against many teams at this level but always seem to labour to a 1-0 either way or a draw.

If he was at a bigger club I think he'd have been sacked after failing to make the play offs this season. Their squad can't come cheap, huge underachievement

I believe that Paddy Madden & John Rooney will officially change jobs at the club and become lottery ticket salesmen. We will retain their registrations just in case we have an injury crisis but their wages will only relate to their ticket selling prowess.

unfortunately after that training session hes now out for three months.

He’s made it through (almost) one week of pre-season training and is apparently still functioning. Our year.

"The removal of club directors from the Board of the EFL (as recommended in its own earlier governance review) and the National League with both appointing new independent directors would also be a welcome reform.

With regard to the latter, although this letter represents my interim findings, I would recommend urgent reform of the National League Board and voting structures as it is clear that a significant part of the league has no confidence in the current set up.

I am also aware of the Football Supporters’ Association survey of National League supporters in which a strong majority supported the National League top division being absorbed into the EFL structure. I recommend that the EFL and National League enter into meaningful discussions to consider this further"

There's a strong case for absorbing the NL into the FL and going Div 2 North and South then going national at L1, especially if we're going down the road of spending caps as the travel costs of Dover, Torquay, Barrow and Hartlepool are significant compared to the likes of us and Chesterfield.
More derbies, higher revenues, lower overheads and more promotions without the pain of more relegations if it went 3 up from Div 2 North and South but only one down from each into a Conf N and S.

I know some fans love doing different grounds and going all over the country but most don't do that many and our away following to Chesterfield will be bigger than that going to Yeovil. The clubs had a tough season financially last year and it seems an easy way to help them with no pain to fans for once.

Nah, I’m dead-set against regionalisation. I’d rather play Notts County than Crawley for instance.

I can see some benefit in regionalising Div 2 if it was combined with the NL but I am not sure of the income sources at L1/2. Could it be an opportunity to lose a couple of teams at each level in the EFL which would avoid having any part-time EFL clubs and reduce the gap between the top and bottom of L2N / L2S, obviously if match day income is a big proportion of income then that doesn't look such a good idea but you would be only losing a couple of midweek matches / attendances.

Aside from the EFL/NL comment, there is lots of good stuff in the letter in terms of governance etc the big question is how much of it could be put into potential legislation and then whether the various lobby groups would attempt to water it down further to lead to (yet another) missed opportunity
