Didn’t know where else to stick this, but it’s a really interesting watch/listen for anyone who is into their podcasts. Richard Brindley going on one of our fan ones - haven’t seen many examples of such an in depth thing with a current player. Speaks really well, particularly the bit about racism in football and some of his experiences at Chesterfield and then with our former assistant manager last season.

Edit - What’s up with the embed codes on here? Search ‘Richard Brindley Magpie Circle’ or something.

I think eventually the NL will be absorbed into the EFL - but please not next season... just so the Fylde chairman can't say 2022 was right - they should get out of NLN this coming season - so would by default get into EFL 2 North for the 2022/23 season if the 2 merged.

Just want to say an absolute no to regionalisation of the fourth tier, the amount it saves in travel is negligible and it would make shit all difference in the number of fans at games (if you’re in L2 South for example you’d still have Boreham Wood skewing away attendances every other week).

I dont think a merger will ever happen. The fifth tiers media exposure would decrease sharply and it'd dilute media and solidarity payments for all existing EFL clubs. So it'd never be allowed.

I’m also against regionalisation at pro level. Even selfishly as a Midlands club you just end up shifted around - when the League Cup was regionalised I think we drew first round ties away at Plymouth then Middlesbrough in successive years.

I think the structure needs looking at, though. My personal suggestion would be for the EFL to become a four division set up, rationalised into leagues of 20, with the promotion and relegation also sorted out so it’s just three up, three down from each level. I’ve always thought 24 teams is just too many and ends up affecting the standard and the drama near the end when half the league has nothing to play for.

Although I also think that the division between organising bodies needs to come where the switch is from vast majority professional to vast majority semi professional. The NL is a useless organisation, but they also have a pretty impossible job because of that.

Regionalisation is a terrible idea, as has been pointed out before it’s often a lot easier to get north-south in this country than it is east-west.

Something has to happen with the NL. The EFL shit themselves at the prospect of losing one of their 3 promotion places into a 20 team league, but are quite happy to maintain just 2 relegation places out of a 24 team league. I don’t really know about a League 3. There are plenty of clubs who struggle to keep up with their costs in a mostly professional league, they’ll be toast in a fully professional league.

3 promotion places and the NL playoff system brought into the EFL as well. Bob’s your uncle.

Since merging and regionalising is the only way we're getting back into the League, I'll take it thanks. De-regionalising in 1958 cost us a dozen 10,000 gate home and away derbys with near and dear long time rivals and gave us instead a dozen games against southern teams nobody had heard of, nobody cared about and nobody wanted to watch. :bdick:

The FA confirm the live streaming of matches on a Saturday from 2:45pm to 5:15pm will once again not be allowed going forward

Gotta feel for our exile fans who'll have a choice of Kevin Ratcliffe or Mark Griffiths to listen to.

Think yourself lucky, Chief.... we have to put up with the monotone drivel from Dave 'Err, Ermmm, Err' Thomas. When watching the live streams last season, I watched with the sound off. The bloke drives me fucking nuts!

Don't the FA get it... if you live near enough to your team, you'll go and watch them at 3pm on a Saturday rather than sit on your sofa with the ball and chain doing her chores and getting in the bleddy way. Also, for teams like us, with exiles scattered far and wide, the extra revenue could be invaluable...

Ah, but fuck it, we're only NL

....simple solution, make all of our Saturday games 5:16pm kick offs

I concur both, about being an exile, and also as someone who can't stand Dave Thomas as a commentator. Not only does he dither and witter on, he completely misses action! Our livestream must have been a real treat for away fans.

Rumours going around that we're only getting an allocation of 600 tickets for Bromley. Hope they're prepared for Town fans in the away end if that's the case.

Sad news out of EP today is that James Jennings has had to announce his retirement from football due to injury.

He underwent a knee operation during the summer and following that has been advised to retire from the game.

I don't know anyone who has ever had a bad word to say about James. Over 500 games for the likes of Macc, Mansfield, Forest Green, Wrexham and County shows how highly thought of he has been at each of his respective clubs.

With everything that is still going on with Connor's cancer and now JJ having to retire it sure has been a tough year for the Jennings'

Best of luck in your future non-playing career JJ

Shit news. Personally I loved both Jennings during their time at Wrexham, moaning buggers because they've both got such a great winning mentality. Top family, I hope they get some good news about Connor, and James is a success at whatever he does next, which I'm sure he will be.

Yeah you couldn't fail to like JJ from what I saw. A pro's pro is how I would describe him from the outside looking in. He's from Stockport so hopefully still in the area and will be back at E.P with the fans. Even better if he could be watching his brother given time.

We'll miss someone like that in the dressing room I'm sure, from a playing point of view with Fish and Barclay coming in, we wouldn't have seen loads of him had he have been fit but I rated him and he's had a very good career at this level.

Signed as what I should imagine was thought off as a relatively cheap squad player and ended up cementing himself in the team in a position that wasn’t his favoured ahead of players actually signed for that role.

Value for money wise he was head and shoulders our best signing since the takeover.

Even on our forum where fans can moan their ways into a paper bag, not a bad word said about JJ.

Hopefully we hear good news about Connor too

800 terrace tickets to our opening away game vs King's Lynn sold in the first day. 1500 tickets for the match in total. Not sure how many of that 700 are KL season tickets. Rest are Southend seated.

Are tickets on sale for everyone else? Absolute radio silence from both Grimsby and Bromley on ours.
