We are flying! First half was awful and Gloucester were by far the better team, second half was a completely different game. Hemmings with a great strike, Penny picking up his 4th of the season from RB after Morgan-Smith hit the bar. And Sammy Austin is just on amother level. Runs past half the Gloucester defence and rounded the keeper before finishing.

Another 3 goals and that's 8 unbeatan in all comps with 22 scored in that time and only 4 conceded.
How is Carrington doing?

Chester really is becoming a graveyard for decent managers. They seem to have ruined Steve Burr, Marcus Bignot, and now these two, all NLN winning managers.

I'm guessing the problem isn't the managers. Football has moved on a lot since Chester reformed, and this league really is a tough league containing well-supported sides who have played at higher levels (in current or former guises), bankrolled shit-or-bust merchants, and established well-run non-league stalwarts. Only two sides can go up, and being mid-table in this league isn't a bad achievement despite what fans of some clubs will think.

Danny livsey may be worth giving a go if you think season is going no where.

inexperienced but he has one heck of a lot of playing experience down here, seen his beginnings in the conference with Carlisle back in 2004, he’s been almost ever present between L1-conf north ever since 16-17 years worth.

he could do with some experienced help, he should ask his old manager Paul Simpson to come in as assistant for short while.

How is Carrington doing?

Absolutely immense, fans love him as he gives his all and has unlimited energy even at 34. He's added much needed experience into midfield as he plays alongside a younger cm.

Love Bern and Jono but they won NLN with a massive buget with Salford which has not been the case with us covid or non covid, you have seen how bad we are this season and it’s been getting worse Baring Boston who came and committed suicide. As for Burr and Bignot getting sacked is part of being a manager and you can rate a manager on how they bounce back, they have both faded since leaving us but I hardly think we ruined them.

I've seen how bad you are, and in comparison to other recent sides of yours it was poor. This season, however, is basically a free hit: only one relegation place but a bumfight for promotion in which most teams will fail. It was perfect for a transitional season for you where you could have let the old guard run down their contracts and recruit appropriately for 2022/23. Were you honestly expecting to be challenging for promotion with an ageing back line and without a decent striker? What do you expect your next manager will achieve this season?

We gave some players a relative rest today (by relative rest I mean dropped them to the bench, but still had to bring them on because others were either going to hobble off or be sent off!). You'll probably just face whoever we've got fit!

Let's just hope both sets of players put on a good show for the fans. And may the best team win

That's great! Such a good pro, great guy and a very good player.

I was gutted when we had to let him and Pearson (Although we offered him a year) go but they just weren't going to be right for the clubs progression I guess.

It didn’t help the cause that The managers kept saying that this current squad is the best we have had since they have been at the club, which is clearly not the case, put that with the fact we haven’t won a away game in over 6 months and as you know we travel with good support so that didn’t go down well.

All those managers did it with wealthy owners, i.e big budgets. The only time we had a biggish budget (£750k boosted by the Sam Hughes money) McCarthy got us relegated and we've not really recovered from that.

Under their new manager Curzon are goal shy. Alfreton are decent. Dont let our three recent defeats to the form horses Gateshead,Kiddy and Southport fool you.
Also we beat Adam Lakeland(the curzon manager) Farsley side 3-0 earlier in the season

Curzon could be top and frankly unbeaten and you would get good odds, very small club people don’t take seriously.

Thomas is back for us which I am hoping solves our attack issues, he is too good for this level.

saying that I have mentioned we ain’t playing as open anymore but I am unsure if it is down to hitting our very hard run of games, our attack options getting injured or a change in approach…….time will tell.

I’d expect we will give Alfreton as much of a hard game as they will give us, both clubs are not expected up at the top so probably will respect the fact they are up there.

though you so much better when you played a more open game your forwards look a real handful when you played on the break.

And his assistant Graeme Coulson left the club to join him. I'm quite surprised Mitchell is joining Blyth instead of going forward he's gone backwards.

He was doing very well at Consett seven points clear at the top of Northern League Division One, also still in the FA Vase, chance of a return trip to Wembley...Blyth must have had a cash injection..

Hereford must be on a real good run, whenever I see their result it seems to have been a win.

Bang in form at the moment with their 5th win from their last six matches. It might just come to a halt away to Southport on Saturday.

Jesus watching York under Askey is like watching paint dry.
Under Watson we played attacking footballl and was normally good to watch.

Another 95th minute winner to add to the collection.

Awful game played in the worst weather you could imagine, made it nearly impossible.

FGR out of FA Cup so they had no game today.
Quite a few of us supporters turned up in Gloucester to watch them play Spennymoor.
Gloucester were better side and winning 2-0 when the biggest flare up I've ever witnessed erupted.
Up till that moment it was a good clean game with hardy any stoppages for fouls.
Apparently a Gloucester player bit a Moors player. He was rightly sent off but so was THREE Moor players.
And plenty of Yellow Cards including one for the Moors manager for remonstrating with referee while standing on the pitch.
Eight [8] minutes of time added on for this one stoppage.
Un-bloody-believable.

His teams can be quite good to watch at times. The problem with Askey is he is very much a one trick pony in terms of tactics and has absolutely no idea how to respond to anything the opposition might be doing other than stick to his plan A. Might get away with it longer down the pyramid but eventually stuff like his aversion to using subs etc will start to tell.

Curzon Ashton 1-2 Alfreton Town

Four players out including Matt Rhead, Dayle Southwell, and others.
So given the terrible conditions todays win with goals in the opening minute of each half was a fantastic effort. Back in to the play offs for now.
Bailey Hobson with his 9th of the season from midfield
Debutant Antwoine Hackford on loan from Sheff united with a goal too.

Based on what I saw today confident of progression in the FA Trophy with Matt Rhead back avaliable hopefully

Southport 2-0 Hereford.

Our unbeaten home run this season continues. It was far from pretty given the game was played in a howling cross-wind and torrential showers. Hereford missed a sitter early on when one of their players put it over the stand from 10 yards, and Jordan Archer hit the bar with a header on the stroke of half time. The first half was very much an even match with both sides trying to figure out the conditions.

The second half was a different story. We were by far the better team, varying our play between balls in the channels, keeping possession when Hereford dropped a little deeper to not get caught out by the ball in behind, and quick counter-attacks when Hereford pushed forwards. Both goals came from Hereford defensive mistakes. For the first goal one of their players got caught out trying to shepherd a ball out for a throw-in, and from that attack Archer put a rebound into an open goal after their keeper failed to hold a Connor Woods shot. The second goal was from a stupid back-pass to their keeper, whose clearance was closed down by Marcus Carver, with the ball falling to Woods who danced around a defender and their keeper before slotting home. At that point it was game over.

Hereford didn't offer a great deal, and I don't think Mason had a serious save to make. Probably not the best of conditions to judge them as a footballing side though.

Guiseley away next for us on Tuesday (if it survives the weather). We're yet to win away this season, and Guiseley have the worst home record in the league. I fear today may have sapped our legs a bit though.
