The FGR list of villages sounds like the made up local places they go to on Emmerdale, “I’m just nipping in to Robblesfield, they have a friendly game this afternoon against Forest Green Rovers”.
Very good, my favourite local village is Rodborough Common...which has to be one of the most expensive places to live in the area, nothing much common about anyone who lives there. Just south of Nailsworth there is a village called Nibley...I've never been there but always wondered if they have a vicar!

Forest have now been added to this list. Presumably it'll be their reserves like last year but should still be a decent crowd at least

Forest is always worth having for us, easy money as it’ll be 15k minimum in at £12 each or something.

Everyone seems to think we’re going to Belgium for a game or two, which would be great fun.

Donny rarely have decent friendlies, should be visiting the likes of Matlock & Buxton but instead go to Rossington & Frickley, as well as home friendlies against teams like Huddersfield & Hull, only one I fancied last season was Spennymoor but that was a Tuesday night. I remember Tadcaster away in the 90s on a warm Saturday afternoon was a belter for the pubs :)

Woking, QPR and Pompey confirmed so far for us! We'll also be playing an EFL cub in Spain inearly July according to an article just posted on our OS.

Not expecting too much from our pre-season friendlies...unless Dale needs a few more quid to send the way of Just Stop Oil and manages to secure an attractive opponent.

Unfortunatly, due to his actions, our Chairman is well on the way to making our club one of the most loathed in the league. How can you fund a group that spends its time disrupting sports events but at the same time be the owner of a football club...surely a conflict of interests?

They have a music festival, my grandson is playing in a band there in June!

Playing Hull too, but also spending FA Cup money on a trip to Spain!
Fleetwood is an odd one. Glad half are vs higher division opposition though.

Funny you say that, I'm 90% sure I walked past DV on my way to work a while ago when the Extinction Rebellion demos were on in Westminster,

We've announced Wealdstone away on the 11th July.

Also somebody has suggested that we'll be facing Barnet, Northampton and Coventry too in the summer. Northampton at home may just be the most depressing friendly we've had since the move.

So far we’ve announced a home match against Reading and away games against Havant & Waterlooville, Farnborough and Woking
I have been told we will also have home games against Millwall and Peterborough.

There were a couple of stories in the media yesterday about Dale Vince being a major source of funds for both Just Stop Oil and the Labour Party...one of them questioned whether there was any conflict between the two, the other quoted him mentioning he would double his contribution to JSO.

My major concern is that we could be in trouble as a club when the link between our owner and a group who are hell bent on disrupting sports events becomes more widely known...surely involvement in both a football club and an organisation that has already disrupted football games should be mutually exclusive.

3 confirmed so far.
19th July - Chelsea in North Carolina
22nd July - La Galaxy 2 - In Carson, California
26th July - Man Utd (mixture of youth/fringe players) in San Diego

Hopefully we get some decent ones against similar kind of teams to what we will face in the league
Tinpot thread please.

I think the conflict of interest in terms of siding with a political party is something that could potentially alienate sections of a fanbase. Of all the shite that happened during John Fenty's (he was a conservative councillor throughout the majority of his time at Town) reign as Grimsby chairman, the most embarrassing and unforgiveable episode for me was letting Nigel Farage into Blundell Park to do a Brexit speech and having him hold up a Town shirt with Farage on the back. I didn't care that Fenty was a Tory and it's fine for football owners to have an allegiance and even fund politics but don't use the club as a vehicle to influence.

I think Dale Vince is a good person with honest intentions, he's just very forthright in his opinions. I see what you're saying about supporting JSO, they seem more radical than you'd like from a movement that your owner is associated with. I don't think pushing a pro-environmental agenda as an aside to FGR is something that will land the club in trouble though, as long as he's not using the club to push that agenda. It's close to the bone though, I get that. The one thing I think DV has in his favour is that these issues are going to become more and more accepted. You'd hope he'll affiliate himself with better less anarchic/stupid movements/groups than JSO when they come to the fore though.

I don't doubt his intentions, much of the stuff that has been done at our club has certainly raised the profile of environmental issues around the World...all positive. I just think that JSO are really close to doing something stupid, as soon as someone is seriously injured...or worse...during one of their protests there has to be a real chance that they will be proscribed. At that point any association with them would become a criminal offence...having funded them and using club advertising hoardings to promote their message could get Dale and, by association, the club in very deep water. They got lucky at the snooker, who in the audience would have known what that orange powder was, if people had tried to leave in panic the outcome could have been pretty serious.

The irony is that I agree with what JSO are saying, about licences to drill in the North Sea, but think the way they are going about getting their message across is totally wrong and could make protesting peacefully almost impossible for other less radical groups...or turn people off campaigning for environmental issues.

Our biggest friendly so far is probably Newcastle United u21 side or Oldham... nothing too interesting yet. Although we do have the delayed Lancashire Senior Cup final to play preseason against Burnley (u21's).

Edit - just announced Blackpool at home

Yep agree with you on pretty much all that. I don't think DV or FGR will be in trouble for JSO's actions though. That guy that chained himself to the goal post, the person who vandalised the Van Gogh painting and the recent orange spray ones at the snooker and Chelsea Flower Show...all of those the criminal charges fell with the individuals I believe?
Playing us in Spain our DOF has confirmed. We are in Pinatar so assume around there.
Potentially pissed up Vale and Grimsby fans in Spain, what could possibly go wrong?

Coventry at home on the 25th July, Northampton at home on the 29th... our final pre-season friendly is a home game against Northampton...

This season is going to be dire.

Looking forward to us all losing some pre season games to lower league opposition and then us all making the same excuses of ‘It was mainly youth players and trialists playing’.

Most of ours have been confirmed now

8/7 Halesowen A
11/7 Whitchurch Alport A
15/7 Burton Albion H
18/7 Vauxhall Motors A
22/7 TBC
25/7 Runcorn Linnets A
28/7 Barnsley A

22nd July will probably be a championship club at home along the lines of West Brom or Coventry I'd guess.

Non league clubs are abit different this year we usually religiously visit Nantwich, Witton Albion and Kidsgrove.

To the FGR fans, we played Rangers in a pre-season friendly 2 seasons ago. Won it 1-0 and don’t recall any major problem with the Rangers supporters.

This year only got trips to Vauxhall Motors and Prescot Cables so far. There was talk of a pre-season tour of Ireland but don’t think it’s come to anything.

We've confirmed the following:

Friday 7th July - Lincoln City (N - Spain)
Saturday 15th July - Altrincham (A)
Tues 18th July - Chester (A)
Saturday 22nd July - Huddersfield Town (H)
Friday 28th July - Blackburn Rovers (XI?) (H)
Saturday 29th July - Preston North End (H)

Expect the Blackburn game to be 2 teams of back up/academy players as we play PNE and they play Girona the next day.

It gets more exciting the game on the 22nd is a home game vs Lincoln.
