I understand he's on loan for the season with you, cant say were blessed with a stand out keeper but we've just improved our defense in our areas so hopefully that will stand us in good stead. I really hope the lad does a good job for you but he's seems to be a very mediocre side which wont help his confidence

Crellin will be a good keeper i have no doubts about that
You dont play for England at u16,17,18,20 unless you have real talent. I think You have turned down a 7 figure bid for him. Its his ability to play the ball out with his feet that Evatt signed him for. He is contracted to you until the summer of 22. Next summer he will either be sold by Barton or become your first choice keeper. If he returns to you and plays in the reserves he will run his contract down and leave in the summer of 22 on a free.

Its not a mediocre side......its a crap system we play with 3 centre backs and ever changing wingbacks

Oxford United have been left frustrated and disappointed that tomorrow’s Sky Bet League 1 home game against Swindon Town can no longer go ahead.

Managing Director Niall McWilliams said

“On behalf of Oxford United we can only apologise to our fans that a game they look forward to more than any other fixture has been called off in this manner. To say we are very disappointed is a massive understatement, however there was nothing we could do to avoid the game being called off.

“It came after Swindon Town notified the EFL that they could not fulfil the fixture and the EFL have confirmed to us this evening that the game will not happen tomorrow. Until we had that confirmation we were unable to comment and that only adds to our frustration and we are currently seeking advice on our next steps

“We have now had three home games called off in quick succession and right now, when times are hard for every football club, that is putting livelihoods in doubt.

“We believe in the values and integrity of the EFL and what the league stands for but at the same time we will fight very hard for what we think, as a football club, is right."

Confused as to why lively hoods are in doubt because they have had 3 home games postponed????
These games may now be put back to later in the season when fans may attend.

If Oxford are relying on i follow money then they are in real trouble

For the third time the visiting team have been unable to fulfil the fixture.

Our players and staff are going above and beyond to ensure that the entire squad is not affected when we inevitably do have a positive test. This has included moving players out of shared houses, having bubbles of players that train together, separate hotel rooms and travelling up separately.
This is all costing money. If clubs that can't fulfil a fixture are not appropriately encouraged to then this penalise those of us that are doing the right thing.

The EFL told STFC they must play the game but they refused because their first team manager is having to self isolate because he has been in close contact with another member of coaching staff that tested positive

Crew fans have bought into the diversion tactics from their manager conveniently ignoring the fact it was the EFL who told them they could not fulfil the fixture and would be subject to a disciplinary panel hearing if they didn't.

It will be interesting to see what penalties are dished out.

Its a Pandemic......No penalties will be dished out
Jesus christ some fans are short sighted
We played against Oldham last week two days later Harry Kewell was tested positive.......if he had passed it on to any of our players which is quite possible should we then be penalised.

Some of our players now may have it and passed it onto Barrow Tuesday and so on.......So where do you draw the line

It's a good question, where do you draw the line?

For me it is when the only first teamer affected is the manager who could hand over control to another coach.
Teams that enter another clubs stadium knowing full well they have been in recent close contact with a player that has tested positive should also be penalised.

There needs to be a balance and teams doing their best to ensure their squad are training separately and as Covid secure as possible should not be penalised.

No it was PHE who wanted it off as they were looking into how Crewe were doing things at the training ground because Oxford reported Crewe for breaching guidelines. The game on the Tuesday couldn’t be played because these enquiries were still ongoing. Also because of this, Crewe decided to do another full round of tests. This was more to spite Oxford than anything else, and also as a show of good faith to PHE. PHE found Crewe did nothing wrong, hence we have heard zilch off them publicly.

Crewe had a hearing Wednesday just gone with the EFL. Crewe were cleared in this hearing. So nothing will be happening to Crewe, contrary to what Oxford fans believe.

Oh and Oxford also reported Crewe to Thames Valley Police. Again, Crewe were cleared of any wrong-doing, contrary to what Oxford fans believe.

Tbf, no club is being penalised. The game will be played - Covid notwithstanding.

What I don’t understand is the procedure regarding recently played games. We played Northampton Tuesday and I presume whatever backroom staff that have contracted Covid had it, unknowingly, then.

Shouldn’t they be self isolating? Seems inevitable that every single club will have this problem some time - just bin it off now.

Interesting point, but from our perspective we're happy to continue playing as we believed that social distancing protocols would have been sufficient to stop the spread. All sounds a little fingers in ears though. I'd hope that we were still regularly testing players to check, but considering other clubs forms on this I'd be surprised if we actually were. Can't cancel a game if no-one gets tested!

Anyway, our game should be going ahead, and probably good money that Aneke will score against us considering his form and our leaky defence.

TBH I thing the social distancing protocols are stopping the spread. Crewe had 4 positives. The fact that it didn’t spread through the whole club surly points to protocols being followed?

Same with Swindon. Only 6 positives from an incredibly contagious disease surely shows clubs are doing some things right?

I forgot that I’m a representative of Crewe Alexandra and my views mirror the actions of the club. My bad. (Btw Oxford got the games called off).

If only there was a forum somewhere that had recorded my views on the Crewe v Oxford x2 debacle.......

I suggest you go back to your own club's statements, Crewe called the games off:

Tbf, at least Swindon sorted it out before the day of the match, and not after entering the stadium on matchday.

Seems obvious that cost is probably a factor - no PL games get called off. No doubt very few PL players’ partners have to go out to work to help make ends meet and thereby increase the chance of getting infected.

If the EFL wants to ensure this season reaches a conclusion they should have PL standard testing available.

Players and staff must be under considerable strain in relation to how they have to live their personal lives away from their clubs.

This was an excellent win today, for sure we rode our luck as Gills hit the woodwork twice but overall we were much the better team. Great defensive performances from Tom Edwards and Callum Connelly.
Ched Evans made a huge difference when he came on in the 2nd half and scored a quality goal to seal the points for the Cod Army - a good day at the office

Couldn’t break Crewe down they broke and scored from a free kick, histrionics from both the players and management of Crewe but we weren’t good enough and they did a job on us
