He was starting and scoring here, too, then DSY came in and we opted to play him instead for some reason.

I didn't think Burrow was anything special. Got a few headed goals thanks to Sean Newton's pinpoint crosses but he wasn't good enough at holding it up and his all round game was pretty poor.

I think that's partly why DSY got the nod. For one up front, or at least the way we played, you either needed to be very good in the air and holding up the ball or someone who can run in the channels and he did neither particularly well. DSY did the latter.

May have fared (faired?!) better with two up front but I don't think we ever did that.

Still chuffed that we won. Seeing us lose in the pouring rain to compound a 7–1 reverse would have been painful. We were adequate enough to win though and were desperate to finally retain a lead. Somehow Jordan Burrow's already matched his previous season total at Lincoln. Felt even better that it was lashing down and the stewards later opened up the shelter we were promised to the home fans so they could heckle us from the near distance, only for them to all pile out before full-time. A small band of cheerful and relieved Shaymen stuck it out.

Blocking off the corner portion of the popular side (which is where people congregate when shooting towards the away terrace) for away fans has been a bone of contention on our forum for ages now. Many opine that catering to away fans because it is raining is detrimental to home fans, who then get squeezed in the section up to the halfway line. It's accepted as necessary when there are large away followings (Tranmere, Grimsby, Macc & Chester basically).

I fully expected to be stood at the halfway line in the second half (we can't go undercover because my son is too small to see much from the terraces, so we have to lean on the fence). I guess the stewards had a change of heart at half time. If it's any consolation, I got piss wet too, for this reason.

As for the heckling, it was mainly a bunch of 12 year olds who have just started coming to Altrincham. Once the big bald guy started remonstrating with the stewards, he was essentially fair game for the rest.

It's a funny one because there aren't turnstiles on that end so it'd mean 138 standing Shaymen with a lot of area to roam in. But since the stewards said we'd be in there it was all a bit cack-handed and many a paragraph has been ranted about it on various Town pages.

Haha tell us about it. I know the bloke you mean too and well done to him for bravely facing up to the 12-year-old Alty army. Glad no-one else dignified it. It's all part of the fun I guess.

Soaking and smiling.

Cheers, saw them. I won't reveal which one I am but to my credit I'm not the big bald bloke in the blue hoodie. ;)
