Can't remember the last time we beat Swindon. Feeling a lot more optimistic now that Anderson is all signed up. Think we've got a good squad this year, just a new centre back and keeper and we're all set I think .

1-1.

Be a good game, this.

I fancy Bradford to win the league so it will be a good barometer of our chances this season.

Should we stock up on gravy?

We never beat Swindon, especially down at their gaff.

However, we do appear to be carefully structuring a decent side on paper, so things could well change - but I would be relatively happy with a draw.

This could well be the line-up;

GK: Jussi Jaaskelainen

RB: Stephen Darby
CB: Rory McArdle
CB: Nathan Clarke
LB: James Meredith

RM: Paul Anderson
CM: Gary Liddle
CM: Billy Knott
LM: Josh Morris/Mark Marshall

ST: James Hanson
ST: Billy Clarke

Subs:
Ben Williams
Tony McMahon
Alan Sheehan
Christophe Routis
Steven Davies
Luke James

That is how I would like us to line up, but it's far too attack-minded for Parky is that. He'll find a way of playing Tony McMahon in midfield, so when the ball is hoofed over everyone's head, McMahon will be there to kick whoever needs kicking to get the ball back. Essentially stopping the flow of Swindon's play - and limiting our ball players to dictate ours.

1-1 (Hanson) - 1,000 City.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 1,000 a bit crap? Wigan are supposedly bringing 2,000 to the Ricoh and they have one of the worst away followings in the country.

We could take more, who knows?

I would imagine we would take 2,000+ to Coventry too. It would sure as hell beat the measly 1,250 you fetched to Valley Parade on the opening day last season, so don't give me the 'all mighty' stance from afar.

Swindon is a shite journey, and it's £25 in.

We did take 1,100 to Bristol City two seasons ago, so who really knows what we'll take.

1,250? The stand behind the goal was full and there was a few in the other side stand. Either your away stand massively decieves me or it was a lot more than 1,250. All mighty? That's funny from a user who defends 56 away fans at a Premier League match - beating Wigan by 34.

I only deal in facts my good people, unfortunately others don't. They just lie and hope the other person isn't clued up! Firthy the stand behind the goal holds 1,850! Another lie from this weirdo. 56 away fans in the PL is definitely not a lie, unfortunately!

The stand doesn't hold 1,840. You'll find it holds just under 1,500. Since the stand was built, rows have been removed, and there is a block nearest to the tunnel that is no longer in use. You brought 1,300 - face it. Shite following.

How many times did we sell out in the Premiership? I'll save you the homework, more times than not. Now ask yourself why we took so few for that ONE game. When you know the answer, come back to me.

In fact, don't. Its irrelevant. I prefer recent statistics. We currently average more at home and AWAY than you.

It was 1406 for a ground and team we had visited last year. You had 1200 for a team and ground you hadn't visited in 6 seasons for your first game back in League 1 for a while yet ours is poor? Is there something wrong with you? No you've never explained why you had 56 away fans in the PL because there is no bloody reason. You just like to think there is to cover it up. You averaged I think 250, maybe 300 more than us away last season despite reaching the FA cup quarter final, beating Chelsea, finishing 7th and playing teams you'd generally consider as rivals (Shef Utd, Doncaster and Barnsley) whilst we nearly went down last game of the season, got knocked out by Worcester in the FA cup and have no games you'd class a rival.

So that's the equivalent of, Coventry playing Leicester, Villa and Blues in League 1, beating Man United, reaching the FA cup quarter final and nearly getting into the play offs? We'd average over 2,000 you **** if that happened. So Covs worse ever season in history and you can only take 250 more away. :lol

Fucking hell, imagine a season if we won more games then we lost we would sell out every single ground probably. We haven't finished in the top 6 of any league for 45 years, don't own our ground, have a London based rugby team playing at our ground, had to play in Northampton for 2 years and have some of them worst owners in history and we can still get a 1,000 average in L1 despite nearly going down.

Other than the fact that Bristol is a 200 mile all round longer trip, and again, it looked a damn sight more than 1,200 (Brizzle fans even backed that up), I'd say it wasn't a bad effort - not that it really matters.

The small following at Coventry was due to a boycott. The previous game even saw our own players fighting amongst themselves on the pitch. Unfortunately, it was a sign of things to come - the decline started there, and our fans knew what was coming. We had thrown a lot of money at journeymen, that coupled with poor decision making from the board, led to an allround air of disappointment. If in doubt, look back to the previous season when we sold out.

You honestly think we consider Blades, Donny and Barnsleh as rivals? NOPE. Although we did take 8,200 in total to all three.

Swindon Town Vs Bradford City .....discuss.

Amen to that.

Do we really have to keep on with all this willy-waving about how 'we're better fans than you' crap.

Who cares. Every club has different attendances, home and away, and you get what you get.

All that matters is how many points we get at the end of the season. Looking forward to seeing our 'new' team and formation against what will be a very good Bradford team

Still (hopefull) of the CB that we are apparently paying actual money for will be in before the next weekend. We're looking good as we are, get another keeper (jussi)? And and few more squad players we'll be challenging for sure.

Better be anyways lol.

More difficult than normal to gauge how Town have performed in pre-season as a) the squad has only really started coming together in the last couple of weeks, and b) the friendlies have largely been heavy defeats to Premier League teams (four of 'em, when you include today's against Liverpool). There's also been defeats to non-league outfits Swindon Supermarine and Solihull Moors, with the squad's sole win of pre-season coming against Hampshire side Petersfield. Performances have had positives, and it looks like a change in formation from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3 is taking place, but the same old problems seem to be lingering; mistake after mistake at the back. Against a physical team like Bradford, with the likes of Davis and Hanson in their ranks, I really do fear the worst for this one.

Despite the sales of Gladwin and Luongo, Town have not spent on a penny on transfer fees this Summer, and have only signed three players on permanent contracts (Traore, Robert and Ormonde-Ottewill) so it does indeed look like there will be a degree of reliance on the loan market again - I think it's almost certain that the budget will be in the bottom quarter of the league this season. I think expectations need to be low; avoid relegation and anything more is a bonus.

Wait a second...

I was under the impression that Leicester City are definitely NOT your rivals?

@FuckoffVilla also on Twitter, you lead a sad life my friend!
Now that guy is a very very strange character. Blocked him very early on, but for someone who likes to claim everything bcafc is tinpot, he spends a hell of a lot of hours tweeting about us. Guess not tinpot enough to have a very own deranged stalker (make that 2 with this Dion/LANOR fella)

Things that bad at Swindon? You were definatley one of my surprise packages last season and assumed you'd be up there again this season.
Do you guys still have that close link with Spurs that worked so well for you?

I don't usually like Swindon as an away day but as it's the first game of the season I'm looking forward to it this time. Think it'll be a close game.
Swindon 0-2 City with 700 away fans.

Also can these jealous Coventry fans calm down with there obsession of all things Bradford City, I know you're all excited to play us but you'll just have to wait until November for us to beat you again.

The link at Spurs was the chairman's friendship with Tim Sherwood, now manager at Aston Villa. We do, however, have a good relationship with Southampton, Liverpool and Chelsea, so I'd hope to see a couple of loan signings from these clubs.

I think Town surprised everybody last season to be honest - me included. We mounted a promotion challenge that ran out of steam at the end of January because we had a youthful, but inexperienced squad that was well set up for 30 games, but not 50. We are going to need more steel this season.

There are just too many unknowns at the moment for me, so genuinely have no idea how Town will fare.

Charming Mike isn't quite right re our friendlies as we beat QPR's first team 1-0 at Loftus Rd last week.

Personally, I don't think we will be much different to last season. Hoping changing from 3 to 4 at the back will help with goals conceded.

Going forward I think we could be better than last season

 it's an obsession because I said 1,000 is a poor following? I'd imagine that would be the lowest following in this league on the opening day, surely for a team who has 18,000 home fans you should be selling it out? Or are my suspicions correct again, that at least half of the 18,000 don't actually support Bradford City and are just there for cheap football. Think we have another Wigan scenario on our hands.
